I actually had a great experience at Stereo City. The owner is a great guy, and they did a great job installing the new Pioneer system into my Subaru. The upgraded me to a Pioneer DEH-X9500BHS when the 8500 model they were going to install wasn't available...and did the upgrade for free. I would highly recommend them! more

I had an amp and subs installed in my sons car here. Not only did they leave wiring exposed near the carpet that was previously not exposed before the installation but they did not install the remote switch included with the setup I purchased. Heck, the switch wasn't even anywhere to be seen.\r \r When I questioned the manager as to why all the components of my purchase were not installed and some missing his response was ""I gave you such a good deal on the installation I could not include that"". Of course I was furious as the box clearly stated the item included a remote switch and then asked ""So, if someone buys a car dvd player with a remote do you not give them the remote because you gave them such a good deal on the installation?"" The manager just smirked and said ""You know, maybe this isn't the place for you to shop"".\r \r After some heated debate he still refused to complete the installation but did reach under the counter into a box full of theses switches thats were included with the boxed product yet magically ""disappeared"" in my case. I guess when you can sell the switches alone on Ebay for about $15-$20 each you could net some nice cash on the side if you had a box of them to sell. \r \r I knew this wasn't right, it was unethical, and downright scandalous as it was part of a boxed item i purchased and i did not receive it. I left there very unhappy with the manager's scandalous ways and will never go back again. Even after calling his unscrupulous ways out, I received no apology or anything from the manager. I, the customer was not right, even when I was wronged. Everyone I know has been told of my experience and they refuse to do business there as well.\r \r I do NOT recommend doing business with this shady manager, go to Car Toys down the road, you will leave much much happier and be treated as a human being not someone that they just mugged.\r \r The worst part about it is my son had to witness the unpleasant experience but I guess it's just another life lesson about unethical business practice and standing up for what is right, especially if you are wronged because nobody deserves to be treated the way the manager at Car Stereo City treated me. more

I had Car Stereo City install a deck on my minivan that I had purchased refurbished from Amazon. They only charged me $30 and it was done in 1 hour. Stereo King charged me $50 for my car. Kudos for being less expensive, on time (walk in appointment) and no mysterious shop or parts charges. more

A month back I had one of there stores 3/12/2012

A month back I had one of there stores (Aloha) run a power cable in my car for ham radio gear. the job was not bad and considering they supplied the cable (4 gauge) and fuse holder the price was reasonable. The even left excess cable as I had not decided where to install the second fuse holder. Shortly After I sold the car and removed the cabling. I took my new car back to the same store, with the cabling (what had been used and the excess) to have it run in the new car. Not only did they charge me the same price, despite I had supplied everything, but did not ask any questions as how I wanted it, which length of cabling I preferred to be used. Their excuse was ""I didn't know if the short length would work"". The new car was smaller than the one the cable came out of. I took the car home, removed the longer length of cabling and re-installed the shorter one. I will not be going back again. more

Don't EVER take your car to this place, 2/16/2012

Don't EVER take your car to this place, TRUST ME! \r \r THE BEGINNING\r I took my car in to get a simple stereo/amp install and boy was I in for a suprise. After having my car for 6 hours I finally return to pick it up. After driving away I happened to look over the job and noticed multiple marks (three) on my dash from the dash removal. One was a clean jab with a flat head screw driver, cmon. On top of that, my bluetooth module did not work (It worked a week before install), installation guides were left in my car and a clip connector from the dash was left OUTSIDE. \r \r I returned the next day and both the front desk and installer acted nonchalant about the situation. The installer said ""I can get it out with heat"" (Car still has visible marks, DID NOT WORK). When asked about the Bluetooth he said ""Idk it's hooked up your module must be broken"" but somehow magically when I got the car back it WORKED. You installed it WRONG obviously my phone wouldn't even find the device the first time.\r \r Not to mention the installer told me ""your dash is a BITCH to get out and I don't want to see it again after this."" YOU ARE AN INSTALLER, THIS IS YOUR JOB! Otherwise I would do it myself but I trust a PROFESSIONAL to do it! So after getting my car out for the second time, I'm hoping everything is working and ready to go. AND ofcourse it wasn't. Not only was there a new mark on my cubby, bringing the grand total to four noticable marks, now my iPOD adapter, which is brand new and was working before dropping it off was NOT WORKING.\r \r I returned the next day about my iPOD dock. After the installer played with my radio, thinking I changed some setting magically, he just said ""do you have time to leave it here now."" No I don't have time to leave it again and why would I want you to open it up again, I'm sure there will be a new problem or a scratch to my brand new car! I told him I don't feel confortable and would rather talk to someone about a REFUND. All he could say was ""We don't give refunds but you can talk to the manager when he's back tomorrow""\r \r NEXT ENCOUNTER\r I call the manager and explain this entire situation to him. He told me I could bring the car in and have a guy open it up, REALLY. I told him that's not an option and had to ask him if I could take it to another Car Stereo City because obviously my cars dash is hard for his installer to remove. A REFUND/PARTIAL REFUND/APOLOGY was NEVER mentioned\r \r IN THE END\r I ended up taking my car to Car Stereo City at Mall 205. They opened it up in 20 minutes and to nobodies suprise, THE iPOD Connector was PLUGGED INTO THE WRONG PORT ON THE BACK OF THE STEREO.....WOOOOOOW\r \r I really wish I could talk to the manager of the manager because this was completely unprofessional, the employees were rude, and now I'm out $$$ to purchase new peices for my dash from Honda. more

rude counter clerk 3/7/2011

i went in shortly after the store opened to ask about service the 10 year old auto alarm that was already installed on my 10 year old TOY Camry. i stopped by this location because there was/is a poster for the same brand car alarm in the store window ( VIPER brand ). when i wanted to request service and ask some questions i was treated quite rudely by the male clerk behind the store counter. it gave every appearance that this same clerk thought i was stupid and inept. i am a person of reasonable intelligence and deserve to be treated with respect. Rodney Dangerfield gets more respect than i did from this store clerk.\r \r the rest of the story is that i went to the CAR TOYS store at about 121st Ave and Canyon road, got the questions that i had, answered, was respected as a human being, and had a VERY PLEASANT experience at CAR TOYS. CAR TOYS deserves the business FAR and AWAY MORE than the CAR STEREO CITY at 178th & TV HWY. more

Excellent deals and installation 2/25/2010

Just had another Pioneer stereo installed by these guys yesterday. This is my third system in my third car they have installed now and I am very happy with it. Their work has been very good and they always work within your budget to maximize your system. I just went in and told them I had this much money and this is what I want......They gave me about 4 different options and gave me some time with no pressure to think about my options while looking around. People are always gonna find something to complain about, but at least they install stereos for free with purchase. However, there is a minimal charge to install more than a stereo, but I can understand. I was the guy that all my buddies called to install their stereos over the years and I think Car Stereo City does great work within your budget. I appreciate them installing the stereo and giving me some insight on installing the speakers myself, while I just had knee surgery and can not bend down. Bottom line.......These guys are awesome and I'll be back. BTW: They installed the stereo in about 20 minutes flat....now that's service. Pros: Always willing to work into your budget Cons: Absolutely None... more

Car alarm installation caused water leak inside car 11/13/2009

I had a car alarm installed by these guys which caused a water leak inside the car. They poked a half inch gash in a rubber piece near the firewall to run the alarm wire inside my car. They didn't seal it properly and as water was running off the windshield, it would fall over the improperly sealed opening and go inside the car to the driver's footwell. The installer also left my old alarm horn inside the car. Save your money and go somewhere else. Unless you want puddle of water at your feet Pros: Zero, nada, niet Cons: poor workmanship more
