Capricorn Automotive

This was my first experience with Capricorn Automotive, and it was great. I had a problem with my car, and they were able to quickly diagnose it. They loaned me the part I needed, so I was back on the road within a matter of hours. The value was excellent. They fixed the car completely when I went back to them, yet they only charged me for 3.25 hours of labor. They didn't even charge me for the part loan. I would highly recommend them. more

I was greatly surprised to find this shop. The owner was very honest with his knowledge of repairs was fantastic. We were from out of town and as you know, being out of the area with no history on what kind of shop this is always a concern. I would like to recommend that you try this shop with confindence. Andrew Ebner, owner and star of Capricorn Automotive, is an educated, innovative, passionate diagnostician and mechanical genius....I cannot thank him enough for his talent, knowledge and common-sense! He has kept me and my 2000 Mercedes ML320 safely and economically on the road with an amazing approach of thoughtfulness and savvy, instead of just "going by the book", though he knows ALL that is in that Book of Mercedes. He also cares for my 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee and keeps it safe and sound; he even helped me with my 1984 Datsun Pickup when my brakes failed. We were at the beginning of a 3,000 mile trip in our old VW Vanagon and had heard some strange high pitched whining noises. Our children are all grown up and weren't with us anyway so we knew something was up. Capricorn auto fit us into their busy morning schedule and while we went for a beautiful bike ride in the wine country they diagnosed the problem, called us with an estimate and had us on our way with fixing a potentially trip stopping problem. I only wish these guys were our hometown mechanics! more

The guys at Capricorn did an amazing job of fixing up my older Volkswagon (probably one of the few experts on this in the area) and bringing it to a place where it was running safely. They listened really well to the issues I was interesting in addressing, made a big effort not to rack up unnecessary expenses, communicated honestly, and provided great customer service. As far as professionalism goes Capricorn Automotive is just great. They are responsive and knowledgeable and the staff make you feel a part of the process in understanding what is happening to your car. As a female who understands a little about cars, they make me feel comfortable that they explain possibilities, procedures, and options. They really did a great job in covering the basics. more

I love Capricorn Automotive. I needed to have the airbag light on my BMW diagnosed/cleared, after I repaired the window motor. I found Capricorn on Google. (After the dealer did not return my phone call for two days!) Andrew (the owner) said come right in. When I got there, he waved me in immediately, and checked my problem. He fixed it in a matter of minutes! When I asked what I owed him, he said nothing. I thought I misheard him! A couple of weeks later my A/C went out on our SLK230. Figures, it was a Friday, and the hottest day of the year so far. I called Capricorn, and again, Andrew said come on in. He presented two options to recharge the A/C. The cheap version, but if there were a leak, it could cost me more in the long run, because all the coolant could leak out. The other was only $50 more, and I would know if a leak was present. The dealership has never offered me a cheaper alternate! As a woman, it is tough to find a repair shop that I can trust. I value integrity, and Iam happy that I found Capricorn! My radiator overheated. I was 500 miles away from home, on vacation. I looked in the hotel's phone book and found Capricorn Automotive. I called them up and they were able to see me and fix it that same day! After investigating child abuse for thirty years, I consider myself to be pretty expert in figuring out attitudes and honesty. I thought they were extremely personal, fair and did not take advantage of me while I was in a compromised position. I really did appreciate the service they provided and the work they did for me. Unlike other shops I've been to, Capricorn took the time to look up and verify the manufacturer specified fluids, telling me they use ONLY factory authorized fluids and parts to do their services. There's not to much to say. I've brought a couple of different cars to Capricorn on a number of occasions to be fixed. After the repairs, there's never been a problem. No problem with the work, no problem with the people, and I always keep coming back. They all seem like nice people, and I like all three of them that work there. more

I keep a bunch of Capricorn's cards in my car. I'm not lying, you can look in my glove box this very minute, and you'll see a stack of them in there. I pass them out all the time, and I don't get anything for that. In fact, I'll probably end up hating myself, because, like a whole-in-the-wall restaurant that you really, really like, you tell everybody about it, and now you have to wait for service! Do I like Capricorn? You bet! Is anybody else going to touch my car? No! Now, to qualify why I rated their professionalism the way I did, all three of them in that shop are really nice people. Competent people. But they're people, not automatons. Many shops don't let you go in and talk with the mechanics, look over their shoulders, and just chat with them. At Capricorn, the mechanics are a lot less formal, i.e. their "professionalism" drops. Are they really good mechanics? Yes. Are they nice people? Definitely yes. Do you want to know what kind of car I drive? I drive a 1988 Mercedes Benz 300/E. Do I like my car? You bet! And Capricorn's service and prices? Their service is top-rate. Their turnaround time is very, very good, and their prices are more than acceptable. I mean, look, it's a Mercedes: you do anything in it, and it costs you money. That said, I'm tickled pink about Capricorn! They've never tried to up sell me, or sell me anything that I didn't need. I'm one of those few people who actually believes in maintaining their vehicle. If something is wrong, I want them to tell me, and they do. In fact, I'm bringing it in on Friday to have them do some work on it. They're helping me keep my car in amazing condition, without it costing me a fortune, hence why I keep their business cards in my glove box. Capricorn's biggest downside is their business location.
