Editorial review from Citysearch 7/17/2013

Horrible communication and book keeping. we lived on this property from Feb 2010-Feb 2013 in a two bedroom. The deposit we made with the first leasing company was not honored with the new leasing company, therefore we basically just freely gave away a 100 dollars. Then, when we decided not to renew our lease and moved out, we were charged exorbitant fees for resurfacing counter tops which were never even used except for decorative items. When I spoke with one of the managers, she cleared the charges and realized that whomever had done the write up originally, had not added correctly and was off by 120 dollars that I was being charged. I paid the new charges and had the manager sign off on my copy that I was squared away and owed nothing else. 4 months later I get a call from collections that Canyon Reserve has sent them information that I haven't paid 70 dollars. I have received no letters no bills since the one in March (the final one I paid) and the woman at the front office couldn't even tell me what the charge was for, there was no mention of what it was for. Now I have to take off work and drive over an hour (which I will obviously not be reimbursed for) and show them my signed form of where I am paid up as well as my copy of my cleared check all while my credit is being slammed. We were wonderful tenants, no complaints, always paid on time, left the apartment in normal wear and tear condition and this is the response. more

Having lived here for three years, first in a one bedroom then upgrading to a two bedroom we have seen at least four different sets of people take over the leasing office. The first lady convinced us to move in and answered all of our questions. The next lady lived on the property but could never be found when situations came up. For example: When we wanted to upgrade our apartment we began talking to her months prior to the end of our initial lease. She kept saying, yes we have one opening up when your current lease is up. She showed us where it was located and then two weeks before we were supposed to move in she leased it out to someone else. When she finally found another apartment for us, we had to move the washer and dryer ourselves because maintenance was so hard to get ahold of. Let's just say we had a roof leak for two months that we were told repeatedly was fixed and would find out the next time it rained that it really hadn't been touched. Then, prior to being bought out within the last year or so, the ladies in the front office were beyond helpful. At that time maintenance would get right on any order put in, which before then, it would take weeks and even months for them to come around. It was FANTASTIC! Now, I rarely see the same two people in the office. The maintenance staff has also changed with the new ownership. Maintenance orders or any phone messages are not returned or if they are it will be weeks later. I wouldn't blame this on maintenance though I think it comes from lack of communication between office and staff. Our lease is up in about 2.5 months and we have been notified of a 10% rent increase. We have decided to leave but for whatever reason the leasing office has developed an attitude with its residents and made it difficult to move out. Granted, not everyone in the office acts this way and if anyone ever deals with John, he has been very professional the couple times I have spoken with him. This new company has done many renovations which makes the place look nice but then the cost of living also increases. People cannot afford the change in price and I would have to estimate that in the last two months my husband and I have seen at least 6-10 people loading moving trucks. In general, the apartments are decent and we would love to keep living on this property however, with the rental increase, rudeness, and lack of communication from the main office has made it clear that we do not wish to renew our contract. If there had been more loyalty to residents perhaps we would have made it work because the location is great and the community remains safe and quiet. It seems that the new owners wish to completely change out their clientele with the new renovations. I wish them luck trying to fill all the empty apartments in this economy. more
