Don't Go Here! 10/15/2013

We recently moved to Bloomington & have an unneutered dog, so our choices are limited in where we can board him. Canine Companions has a nice staff, but each of the 3 times ended negatively. \r After the 1st stay, our dog had lots of wounds: a 1-inch diameter scab on his cheek, the other cheek had a 2-inch scratch/scab, many scabs all over his head/body, & another large scrape on his elbow. After reading reviews, I suspect he got into a fight with another dog, but the supervision was lacking. I think they're understaffed to supervise the number of dogs they get over long weekends. The front desk staff seemed genuinely concerned & told us to bring him in if he showed any signs of sickness or infection. He did end up with diarrhea & vomiting, so we brought him in 2 days later to the onsite vet who gave him a shot & ointment for the wounds. I decided to give them another chance since they were nice about it. \r After the 2nd stay, our dog came home with kennel cough. He was stuffy, constan more

We recently moved to Bloomington & have an unneutered dog, so our choices are limited in where we can board him. After the 1st stay at Canine Companions, our dog had lots of wounds, some quite large. After reading reviews, I suspect he got into a fight with another dog but the supervision was lacking. I think they're understaffed to supervise the number of dogs they get on weekends. After the 2nd stay, our dog came home with kennel cough. I couldn't understand why they hadn't already had him on medication. The treatment for kennel cough wasn't covered by the Carefree Guarantee. I brought my dog in a 3rd time, but since he still had cough suppressant pills left the General Mgr, Eugene refused to take him, even though he was well. He was nasty to me from the start. He indicated I lied about where my dog got kennel cough in the 1st place, then asked why I bothered coming back. Very rude! Eugene has absolutely no care or concern for his customers, let alone their dogs. more

BEWARE! I just picked my 2 yr old bulldog up yesterday after kenneling him for 7 days and he was so sick he had couldn't even wag his tail. I had to demand that he be seen by a vet after the staff told me it was just a cold. They never called us on vacation to inform us of any illness. He went in weighing 75 lbs. and left 7 days later at 66 lbs, laboured breathing, and green mucus coming out of his nose!!!!!! Thank God for the Vet that actually came in because she was concerned when they described his condition to her. She immediately gave him an antibiotic injection and sent us home with medication (which we had to pay for). . . AWFUL TREATMENT and I will be filing a criminal complaint with the Monroe CO Animal Management division. more

This was supposed to be a "day care" and yet I had an experience of complete negligence of care. I took my dog here daily for about 7 months, until one day I picked her up and she was foaming at the mouth. She could barely walk she was so sick. Apparently they are not paying attention to the dogs or the staff is that incompetent. Their website says they offer a "carefree guarantee" that your dog will receive free vet service if they get ill or injured at doggie daycare. When I picked her up I was so shocked no one took her to their on-site vet, let alone attempted to call me. When the vet saw her the staff had the audacity to try to charge me for the visit. I will never take my dog here again, my dog was ill for over a week. The staff took no responsibility for the care of my dog. I will never take my dog back here again, and will never recommend anyone put their dog's livelihood in the hands of their care, or lack thereof. more
