The Candlin Pet Hospital is located on Wingra Drive, near the Arby's on Park Street. We have been taking our pets there for more than ten years. The prices are very reasonable, and the employees seem compassionate more

We first went to Candlin after finding a stray cat in our neighborhood. Since they are a walk-in clinic, we were able to take the cat over at our convenience and they examined the cat, then scanned the microchip and located the owner for us, not even charging us for the exam. We really liked the experience, so when we adopted a cat of our own, we returned to Candlin. They are very good with Trout and he loves it when the tech cleans his ears. We will be taking our newest cat there for her first exam today, based on the convenience, compassion, and value we find at Candlin. more

We took our dog there when he got hurt because it was only a mile away from our house. Big mistake. The vet gave us the wrong diagnosis saying that we needed to get emergency surgery on his back knee. Also, as she was checking him over I was asking questions that she just never answered. Long story short we took him to our usual vet in Oregon & they rediagnosed the injury and it healed on its own 2 years later we have still had no issues with his knee! more

andlin pet hospital has to be one of the most affordable, and compassionate pet hospitals today in Madison. Dr. Kim is awesome, she loves her work and knows the medicine. Friendly place, but will refer patients as needed. more

I have only had positive experiences at Candlin. The doctor herself was very caring, and even was accommodating when I explained to her that I have limited resources and I could only afford so much. I have never been there in an emergency, just check-ups. Regardless, I would recommend this clinic without hesitation. more

I contacted Candlin today to see if they could provide me with the date and amount I paid for a six-month supply of HeartGuard Heartworm pills for my dog. The receptionist was not very enthusiastic when I asked if she could help me. "I'll try" in a very dry tone was her response. After a minute or so on hold, she returned with, "I cannot find the record in our new computerized system". I asked if she can tell me from hard copy, the date I had the appointment. This would at least provide me with a date to look through my bank/credit/check statements (I couldn't remember how I paid for appointment and pills). Then the receptionist came up with a date. I asked her what they would charge for the pills. Her response was which brand...I replied HeartGuard. She then told me $45.00. Wow, that wasn't so difficult. I hope others do a better job of keeping track of vet expense records than I do. I just felt like I ruined her morning by asking for help. more

I have gone to Candlin for many years. Dr. Kim was the MUCH better vet of the two, and she now own it outright (from my understanding) and the other vet no longer works here.Prices have gone up slightly since she bought it, but their record keeping seems much better and the vet is still very good and seems to truly love animals.The new receptionist (Vet. Asst.) does not have the pleasant personality that Linda (the former owners daughter) did, but she is OK most of the time. She can be rather short.Overall, I would recommend them without hesitation, especially for anyone on a budget. more

I have gone to Candlin since I moved here in 1975. Started with Dr. Sarah Orvick and then Dr. Kim Berglund. I have sung their praises as well as Mrs. Candlin, Linda, and the clinic overall. Our pets have always received compassionate, loving care. I have always been most grateful to them all, but especially Dr. Kim. She always goes way BEYOND the call of duty I have recommended them to many and all have been most impressed with Dr. Kim as well as all the staff. Congratulations on your new digs. They're awesome. Continue the good work you do for all of our pets. more

If you haven't been to Candlin's new location, it's very nice! MUCH more room than their old place, and a really soothing environment. Dr. Kim and her staff are great, have helped me with special-ordering a tough-to-find food, and turned me on to an alternative to the gentle leader-type leash (my dog hated) to one that works beautifully. I can walk both of my big dogs together now easily. more

Dr. Kim is amazing, and her new vet tech is great. Some of the reviews represent a vet who no longer works at Candlin. My dad was a vet, so my standards are high. Her new facility is warm and very animal/owner friendly. Dr. Kim is also willing to explore all types of treatment, and even gave me a "common sense" tip to help my dog's digestive issue. It works great and costs $.85 per week! Great place! Great price! Great care! more

Kim and Kayla are amazing!! I have been bringing my 12yr. old dog there since he was a puppy. They are so kind, compassionate and loving. They are very practical-they don't just run all kinds of tests for no reason. I would strongly recommend them- Reasonable prices and great care!! more

i wouldn't take our two cats anywhere else! we get fair, affordable & most importantly, loving care from dr kim--petrus actually looks forward to seeing her buddies at candlin! we tried another madison vet, but their prices were astronomical and their diagnosis off-base, expensive, and in the end, entirely erroneous. kim starts with the most gentle course of treatment first because i sense she truly cares about the well-being & comfort of the animal. more

I started over 20 years ago with my baby sisters sick old cat. Mom called with $35.00 in her pocket asking" Please Save The Cat" The cat could not be saved. But they took him in in the middle of the night for $35.00!! What vet does that?? My sister and I are grown now. We both take her several cats etc and my 9 dachshunds and two cats to the clinic anytime day or night. Always treated with respect and complete honesty. Never charging me for anything I have not needed! more
