Best vegetarian food I have eaten!!! 1/7/2009

Calabash has to be one of the best vegetarian restaurants in Atlanta. I would love to have the culinary skills that their chefs are gifted with... I went in yesterday for the first time and promptly went back today and bought food to take home. The food is so good and inexpensive; I am even contemplating eating two of my three meals a day there. If you have not tried this diamond in the rough, you are missing out on a gem! Pros: Inexpensive, great food and ambience! Cons: Not a one! more

Outstanding and unique vegan food 10/13/2008

I found Calabash on a listing site and decided to try it out. It is unbelievable. Very different from any other vegan restaurant I have tried. The restaurant has a unique feel to it, the owner is there, and very friendly (rare to find at any establishment these days) the music is great, the feel is very relaxed and clean. The food was wonderful, I had curry soya with cabbage and the hardest part was deciding what to get because all of the options looked good. Best of all, it is very affordable. While this is a great find for the vegetarian, I would not hesitate to bring my meat eating friends to this place. The island flavors will appeal to everyone. We need more places like this. Pros: Great food and ambience more

Very Good Vegatarian Food! 9/23/2008

Worth the Walk!\r \r After receiving a flyer advertising ?Calabash Vegetarian Kitchen? at my job, I decided today?s the day I must checkout this Island inspired Vegan Cafe. Ready, Set, Go! Taste? So I prepared my tastebuds and my feet, it?s quite a walk from my job. As I entered the cafe, I was met with a warm and friendly greeting, a very helpful gentlemen, patiently showed me all the freshly prepared goodies(a la carte) for that day, of course I wanted everything but settled for Ackee(West African Fruit and Jamaican food staple)with Tofu, red peppers, veggies, the flavor & texture is somewhat like scrambled eggs - delicious! and a side order of tasty shredded cabbage and peas & rice?.seasoned just right! Feeling somewhat parched from my long walk, my refreshment, freshly made ?Tropical Punch?(Strawberry, Lemon, Raspberry, sweetened with agave nectar ( a low calorie natural sweetener, stronger than sugar, used for baking, cooking, replaces chemical, artificial sweetener)ummm, ummm, ummm, good! Calabash is quaint, it?s a comfortable, relaxed, down to earth cafe with good food and warm people. Get your tastebuds ready, I?m gonna share with you a few menu items: Escovitch((marinated fish), Stewed and Curry Soya?Veggy Patties, Vegan Muffins, Cakes?Soups, Salads, Wraps?Tropical Smoothies and Fresh Juices..they also offer FREE WIFI. It?s so refreshing to have a variety of healthy food options especially in the Downtown area, and located a few blocks from where I live is a plus! Pros: Good Healthy Food Freshly Prepared Cons: N/A more

Best Carribean Styled Vegetarian food in the City of Atlanta 8/21/2008

For a long time I have been inquiring for a good place to eat healthy food in the vicinity of my school, until I found Calabash, I was seriously irratated by all of the establishments in the downtown area. Calabash deserves my high praises because they maintain an excellent standard for food, customer service and cleanliness. Their food has remained to be consistent since the first time they opened. Calabash offers a wide variety of dishes that anyone and everyone who tries it will love it. The staff at Calabash are very nice and the owners are in touch with the community, on top of that Calabash is a family owned buisness. Did I mention that before I ate at Calabash I did not like Tofu and soy protein. Calabash makes it easy to become a Vegetarian and or a Vegan. The atmosphere of the resturaunt is very relaxing and mellow so if you ever have time for a humble meal with an amazing variety of dishes to choose from stop by and enjoy Atlanta's best vegetarian food. Pros: The Food, The Customer Service and the Cleanliness of the facility more

Excellent Food and Customer Service 8/21/2008

This restaurant has the best vegetarian food i have had in Atlanta. The food is colorfully flavored and savory, unlike other vegetarian restaurants I have eaten in. They have such a wide variety of dishes you can choose from which makes its hard to get bored with the menu. It is also very affordable. The owner is very friendly, humble, family and community oriented. The atmosphere (music, service, food etc,) allows you the opportunity to leave feeling better than when you came. To make it even better, you dont feel guilty after leaving with a full stomach because of the superior quality of food. I highly recommend it. Pros: Everything Cons: N/A more
