Worth the Walk!\r \r After receiving a flyer advertising ?Calabash Vegetarian Kitchen? at my job, I decided today?s the day I must checkout this Island inspired Vegan Cafe. Ready, Set, Go! Taste? So I prepared my tastebuds and my feet, it?s quite a walk from my job. As I entered the cafe, I was met with a warm and friendly greeting, a very helpful gentlemen, patiently showed me all the freshly prepared goodies(a la carte) for that day, of course I wanted everything but settled for Ackee(West African Fruit and Jamaican food staple)with Tofu, red peppers, veggies, the flavor & texture is somewhat like scrambled eggs - delicious! and a side order of tasty shredded cabbage and peas & rice?.seasoned just right! Feeling somewhat parched from my long walk, my refreshment, freshly made ?Tropical Punch?(Strawberry, Lemon, Raspberry, sweetened with agave nectar ( a low calorie natural sweetener, stronger than sugar, used for baking, cooking, replaces chemical, artificial sweetener)ummm, ummm, ummm, good! Calabash is quaint, it?s a comfortable, relaxed, down to earth cafe with good food and warm people. Get your tastebuds ready, I?m gonna share with you a few menu items: Escovitch((marinated fish), Stewed and Curry Soya?Veggy Patties, Vegan Muffins, Cakes?Soups, Salads, Wraps?Tropical Smoothies and Fresh Juices..they also offer FREE WIFI. It?s so refreshing to have a variety of healthy food options especially in the Downtown area, and located a few blocks from where I live is a plus! Pros: Good Healthy Food Freshly Prepared Cons: N/A
