Cake Ladies Inc

We called the cake ladies and set up a date to meet at a fast food resturant to discuss our cake. We arrived 15 mins early. After waiting for almost 30mins we decided to call and see if she was going to show up. She finally answered and said that she wrote our date down wrong to meet with us. We were very pleased after we left meeting thinking that this cake is going to so pretty and just what we wanted. We gave her the $100.00 deposit. Since she had our date down wrong she didn't have the cupcakes for us to taste the flavors. She did bring the to me the next day at my work. We were told that there were 14 different flavors to choose from. She brought 12 cupcakes and only 6 different flavors. No big deal we thought we really like the carrot cake so that's what we picked. My fiance called her a few weeks later to give the flavors we wanted..no problem she says. My step-mother was going to be paying for the cake and wanted to speak with her about payment. Since they no longer have a shop there is no address and only 1 phone number available it is very hard to get in touch with her. My step-mother tried to call her for weeks to speak with her with no answer at all and the voicemail box always full. She finally got to leave a message but never got a return phone call. I have tried to call for weeks with the same outcome (also one of my bridesmaids has been calling). I finally found an e-mail address and wrote an email asking to be contacted by the following day or I would be taking my business elsewhere. My step-mother also wrote an email. I'm very disappointed because I finally had to go a week before my wedding to order a cake elsewhere. This is no way to run a business very unprofessional and I really hope that she doesn't show up on my wedding day with a cake thinking she is getting paid for it!!! more

I ordered my wedding cake from Cakes By Bonnie and Theresa 7 years ago. I had seen and tasted their cakes before and loved them. I went to them with a VERY simple and detailed order. I gave them several pictures and a drawing, I could not have been more specific. On the day of my wedding the cake they delivered was absolutely HORRIBLE! The only thing they got right was the shape of the cakes and the flavors. The fondant was cracked, not smoothed out and the wrong color. The cakes were stacked wrong. The bows were sloppy and in the wrong places. There was border when I said I didn't want any. Like another customer on here, there was no compensation, fixing any part of the cake or even an apology. They acted as if the cake was perfect and what I ordered when it was clearly not. What was supposed to be the centerpiece of my reception turned out to be the biggest disappointment to me and they didn't care that they did not do their jobs. NEVER AGAIN! I have been a cake ladies customer since they were Cakes By Bonnie and Teresa years ago!!! I have never in 8 years had a problem with their cakes or their service. I ordered cakes for my bridal shower, wedding, baby shower and countless birthdays. I have also ordered cakes for 6 bridal showers I hosted for friends. Never have I ever been dissatisfied or treated poorly. The creativity and talent displayed by the ""cake ladies"" far surpasses that of any other bakery I have seen. No matter what design I requested they surpassed my most imaginative designs. I have seen thousands spent on cakes at weddings I have attended only to be disappointed when the cake tasted like wax! I knew right away it was certainly not a Cakes Ladies cake! I have recommended cake ladies for years to anyone with an occasion that they want to make special. The cakes are still amazing after all these years. Thank you for continuing to make the cake the most enjoyed and talked about food item at my parties. Pros: Always willing to take on the challenge of any unique design I present. Cons: Delivery is only available on Wedding cakes. It would be great to get birthday sheet cakes delivered. It would save me a drive out from Chesapeake. more

I ordered a cake for my daughters 1st birthday. The order was put in a month in advance. I went in two weeks before the party date and drew a picture with one of the ladies working there. She told me she knew exactly what I wanted and she would call if she had any questions. I was told the cake would be ready for pick up at 1200pm the day of the party. This cake was a half sheet. When I called a 1000am that day I was told by the Cake Ladies that my cake was ready and could be picked up. My husband goes to pick up the cake. He arrives to find my daughter's name misspelt on the cake. The lady said oops then took the cake to the back. When she came back the cake had a break down the center and the letters wipped off and some added. Her response was you dont have to buy it after hearing our dissapointment. I called the owner the next working day she was in, to let her know how easily that could have been avoided with a phone call to check spelling. When the phone was answered and I told my name and that I wanted to speak with the owner. I was put on hold for 4 sec. then the phone hung up. After I called back the owner was not apologetic about the phone hanging up or the cake screw up. I will make sure I check reviews before going to places I dont know about. I see why they changed the name. The name should be (Made to Disappoint). Cons: They do not need our business to survive. more
