Great service & atmosphere!! 5/23/2008

Impressive service and atmosphere...I fell in love as soon as I walked into their ""Red Room"", big enough to hold a get together with your closest 20-30 friends. It's a swanky, turn of the century French inspired room decked out in red velvet couches, a moody fireplace and rotating local art...this bar takes you to a different place! Besides the ""Red Room"", they also have FREE WI-FI and a great game room that has it all...cheap pool, darts and....FOOSEBALL!!! The new menu is great and on top of it all, I have met some of my best friends here...some of them being part of their exceptional staff. You just have to experience it yourself! Pros: Incredible ambience, service, fun & food... Cons: Parking is never fun in Capitol Hill, 2 lots accross the street though. more

Like a bunch of mini lounges in one 10/9/2007

I love this place. There is so much that it offers. Great prices especially at happy hour, free pool & darts at times, plenty of places to sit and lounge so you can mix it up every time you go. The have a hilarious drinking team headed by a bartender and it's just a riot to watch. Pros: happy hour, atmosphere, service Cons: parking can be tricky in the area more

Still is my favorite place to be. 8/14/2007

Once I stepped into Cafe Metropolitain, I fell in LOVE......... The feeling of being transported to an outdoor evening in Europe where the place is clean and the people around are so friendly. Great to take a date or have a large group to celebrate any special occasion. Free WiFi for my laptop, Free Game Room and the best cheese cakes and fresh grilled sandwiches around. The atmosphere changes as the day turns into night with candle lights and mood lighting at around 9:00pm. Quick service and nurturing staffs really make my stressful work days goes away. Every time I step into Cafe Metropolitain, I feel like Im on vacation. This place is for everyone without the bad attitude. It is a place that anyone can feel comfortable and call it their own. more

It's a Love-Hate Relationship 6/9/2007

The drinks here are great and the prices are even better. The downside is the wait. If you go on a night where the bar is at all crowded, expect to stand in line for 10-15 minutes before even making to the bar. Snagging a table (if you can find one) and having a waitress may provide even slower service. However, the cheap drinks during the late-night happy hour and the yummy munchies on the menu make it worthwhile some nights. It's a great place to go during the week, but I wouldn't recommend on weekend nights unless you plan on getting there early and are quite patient. Pros: Prices Cons: Service more

Best Friggin' Happy Hour I've Ever Heard Of 7/10/2006

Quarter beers!!! This place is so kick *ss -- free pool, darts and foosball all the time. New owners made it dark and spooky, like the Pirates of the Caribbean ride at Disneyland or semething. Cheap food, quarter PBRs or $3 pitchers and two buck wells. Yeah, it's pretty much where my group of friends and now a lot of others meet every night at 9 or 10 p.m., before the late happy hour starts up so we can get one of the killer lounge areas or the picnic table. Pros: Happy hour, free pool, cheap eats Cons: It's going to get too popular once the word about quarter beers is out more

Finally, A Clean Bar On The Hill!! 4/30/2006

This gem on the Capitol Hill is definitely on its way up in my book. Great customer service from the start -- we were met on the way in by the owner on Monday -- which is their $4 martini night. There are other daily drink specials, the ambience is the absolute best in Seattle. I've never seen anything quite like it outside of Vegas or maybe L.A. Music varied and not too loud -- perfect for groups of friends to kick back in their uber-plush Maison Rouge, full of red cozy couches. And, yes, it's oh so very clean!! more

What a great hangout spot! 4/13/2006

This place is a fantastic addition to Capitol Hill! I've been a few times and the best part is they are serving a full bar now. The scene is different every single time I'm there. Always a great mix of straight, gay and everything inbetween. They have it all, great cocktails, tasty deserts, free WIFI, a killer venue and good music that you can still talk over. They keep it lively by hosting many varied events and good specials. It's also a great spot to have a meeting or party. Of course the bottom line is the cute staff, fun crowd and stiff drinks! Welcome to the hill Cafe Metropolitain, we're glad you're here!!! Pros: staff, selection, ambiance Cons: parking, limited hours more

Does not hit the mark of what it wants to be... 4/9/2006

Have the owners ever been to Paris? Menu does not reflect the culture, and I was told by the bartender (owner?) that it will change very frequently. I find that confusing: you should be able to look at a menu and know what is served. He seemed unexperienced, and was not engaging people as customers. They did not have sandwiches at all, but was on menu, and their beer list was not updated. I ordered Mac&Cheese, and it came warm, not hot. The young boy waiter, lacked experience, didn't take orders, told me to order at the bar. Also: white shirts and black pants look good, not polo shirts or beer t-shirts. Large open spaces, not very cozy. Mens room is right next to bar, so you can see right in. Concept of place is good, but they do not hit the mark at all. Not recommended. Pros: concept of Paris, Velvet couches Cons: Lacking soul, inexperienced waiters more

Indoor Parisian Street Cafe 3/15/2006

I didn't know Cafe Metropolitain existed until I rode by one day on the bus and saw it. When I finally went in, I was blown away. The interior is huge and themed like a Paris street cafe, and painstakingly done. Very nice! Decent beer selection, but I still consider the Stumbling Monk the definitive spot for Belgian ales. Cafe Metro opens an hour earlier than the Monk, which makes it a better after-work spot. The sandwich I had was good, as was the hot pretzel with mustard. The place was practically empty on a weeknight, but hopefully that will change as folks find out about this new gem. They've also got a large, reservable party room and hold wine tastings daily. I will definitely be back, especially when I need a place to drink beer and do homework, meet friends, or take my co-workers after 5pm. Pros: amazing atmosphere, good beer selection, free wifi more

Best New Hangout On Capitol Hill 3/3/2006

Wandered by with friends Saturday night and stopped into this new place. The interior was totally unexpected -- a Paris street scene and very elaborately done! We were greeted by a bartender passing by, who invited us to explore and sit wherever. It's a very large room with several distinct and themed areas. There's a beer garden up front which serves as the bar, a cafe/courtyard in the middle with tables scattered around a large tree and fountain, and a back room filled with cozy red furniture. They had a good crowd Saturday, an excellent selection of tap beers and inexpensive wine by the glass, and sufficient food and appetizers. The only thing missing is hard alcohol, which we were told is in the works. Bravo to Cafe Metropolitain for creating a very cool and comfortable atmosphere in which to hang out with friends. I'll definitely be back! Pros: Atmosphere, Service, Price Cons: No liquor yet more

great to relax 2/27/2006

I like being able to go to a casual atmosphere, and have a good glass of wine, instead of an overpriced glass that the restaurant got for a special price. Great place to enjoy imported wines and beers, I love the place. Pros: atmosphere, selection, value more
