My husband and I used to eat there regularly when it was the China Palace. Apparently, it's under the same ownership with a new name, but it was a huge disappointment. I ordered halibut sushi which was tough and veiny with a lot of fat in it, which tells me it was not the best cut of fish, as halibut is very lean and you could literally gum it if you had no teeth. They have redecorated the inside of the restaurant which made me feel as though I was in a crappy beer bar throwing peanut shells on the floor. There used to be very intimate booth seating with large overhanging plants everywhere. They've replaced the plush booth seating with small coffee shop booths and pulled all the carpet up off the floor. I felt like I was sitting in some hole in the wall beer bar or a warehouse. The cement floor was all cracked underneath, which also made for a very loud restaurant as there was no carpet to buffer the noise level. My shrimp with garlic and shallots was ok, however, I've never been charged extra for just plain white rice. We ordered a turtle ice cream thing for dessert, which was brought on a plate just out of the heated dishwasher and it immediately started to melt all over the plate. The coup de grace, however, was when paying the bill. When the waitress brought our change, she brought us only the paper money, but did not bring the coin change that was due. When I mentioned she had shorted us on our change, her comment was "Oh, just take that out of the tip." Granted, it was only 62 cents, but that gives me a clear indication I am probably not the only person they do that to. Overall, the service was inattentive, I had to keep asking for iced tea refills, and it's just not worth my time or money to go back. They've definitely lost my business.
