CD TRader- Don't go There! Racists! 12/10/2011

The Horrible customer service & perhaps Racist bigots, people working here are white pot-heads. I live 16 miles away, I go there 1st day & find some old blues titles. But my 1st run-in w/bad customer service came from 1 of staff - his knowledge wasn't as great as I thought it might have been. 2nd bad customer service: A rare Cajun CD that their preview system didn't read, so I asked them (It was used) if there was any other way I could listen to the CD to see if I was gonna put it on the rest of the CDs I had & getting ready to pay $60 for. His response was, go find the album & see if you can listen to it on the internet. Any other Records store would have at least extended me the courtesy of letting me listen to the album for a few minutes. 3rd Bad customer Service: I get ready to pay $50 for some rare 1920s Blues CDs I wanted to buy, the owner by the name of Dave, told me that my Bill was too old for him to accpet and that I needed to go find a newer bill to pay with. I asked can he put the item on hold for me, he agree but only until the next day. They EXPECT their customers to have internet access at home (which I don't) & expect an easy internet access for all of their customers, on top of that they must bring in new clean crip bills if they want to pay in cash. 4th Bad customer service: Next day I go back feeling excited I can finallty but the CD's & hear some rare 1920s Blues music, - I took 3 CDs of mine to see if I can actually trade them & get even a better discount so hopefully I can get some more CDs- 1 pot-heads employee tries to compete w/me to get inside before I do, and then turns around and tells me that the buyers is on his lunch & he can't serve me for another 35 minutes & I need to wait. It was 3:45 pm, so I didn't understand the whole lunch thing given that it wasn't exactly lunch hour. I tell the guy I'm parked on the street and If I wait for buyer to come my time on the meter will run out, can they please call him up, I'm here getting ready to pay them $60.00 RIGHT NOW- These are just 3 discs. He said I need to wait, I tell them have items on hold & I am about to make a $60.00 transaction- he told me he didn't care & that I needed to wait. So they pretty much expect their customers to make things easy for them & adapt to them, but they refuse to do anything for the customer. This place has no competition, they can get away w/ giving poor serivce. Oh yes, I'm a colored man, everyone working here is white pothead dressed up like wackos, so go figure. 5Th & Final Chance: I call the owner (his name is David) on friday & ask him if he rememebrs me putting some blues CDs on hold for me on tuesday & he says yes, and I tell him unless he can give me a reason otherwise, I won't be coming and picking it up, because of the horrible customer service his empoyees provide, as I was getting ready to explain the situation- he hung the phone up on me! So even the owner doesn't want to hear just how bad his store is in terms of cusotmer service & doesn't care, there are enough people in the neighborhood with his fine details rewarding him. There are enough crackpots in the neighborhood that reward them for their bad behavior, or maybe because their fine details matches the fine detailes of them, they go out of their way to help them but not me, which means, this establishment at BEST is also RACIST, a man of color want to pay but has a good Old bill, they make him go change it, then they make him wait & hang-up the phone on him. As if the customer doesn't have a life of his & other things to do that he has to wait for them. NO NO NO, I don't recomend this racist establishment with lots of white potheads working who expect you to bed over backward for them & give them you money. DON'T GO HERE! LET THEM GO OUT OF BUSINESS SO THEY LEARN A LESSON ABOUT MAKING THINGS EASIER FOR THE CUSTOMER. more

The Record Store 'Experience' 7/1/2010

I'm a regular at this Valley store that sells new and used vinyl, CDs and DVDs. Uppers: They have a pretty good selection and the prices are usually reasonable. I've bought 'used' CDs, still in their plastic wrapping, starting at $5.99 and new starting at $7.99. New release stuff is usually $10-$13. I've never had a scratched or unplayable used CD. The frequent buyer card gives you a stamp for each disc you buy and after 10 stamps they give you $7.99 off your bill or choose a disc for free ($7.99 or less). The tunes they play in store are usually good. Downers: It's poorly organized, doesn't have much turnover and many of the staff are surly at best. I've never sold anything here but I once made the mistake of asking what was playing on the store's stereo and got a withering look for not knowing - it was Ash. Although visiting just about once a week only one of the regular staff acknowledges that they've ever seen me before. Attempts to engage in chat at the register are met with the briefest of replies. I once saw a kid try to sell a dozen CDs, only three or four of which they wanted to buy. He asked where else he might try to sell them - a reasonable question - and the kid was much derided after he'd left the store. This is good old fashioned record store snobbery at its finest. This is not the place to drop into to pick up that latest piece of throwaway pop or gangsta rap; their main business is alternative, rock and jazz. But I can browse away an hour or two easily and have found some bargains. Pros: Some bargains, frequent buyer program Cons: Staff, slow stock rotation more

Abhorrent Customer Service 8/13/2009

Not all the employees are rude, but the manager of this place takes the cake for bad customer service. If you are a vinyl buyer I would highly recommend Amoeba or another store. CD Trader has very high prices for collectable LPs, and a no-return policy on new LPs. Pros: Close to work Cons: Rude Manager, small selection, poor quality product more

Biggest bunch of A-holes; right out of High Fidelity 4/29/2009

the attitude is amazing. You have to see it to believe it. Bunch of geeks who are mean and rude. I will never go back again unless I want to get a huge laugh. Cons: Worst attitude from below minimum wage employees more

CD Trader's prices are not the only thing that is cheap 8/31/2008

This place is mediocre at best. Yes, there are occasional finds for decent prices. Yet, the rotation is slow! I have attempted to bring in good dvd & lp material for trade or sale, but the offers these guys give are insulting to the collector. They don't even give a higher percentage for store credit. Come on guys, are you serious?! Don't they realise that it is good for business? I recommend Amoeba to all that read this. The customer service is another area of concern. CD Trader is just not cutting it for the collector. Pros: One of the larger music stores in the Valley Cons: Selection could be better, service could be better more

sliding way downhill 10/15/2007

This used to be a really great place. Amazing finds used for 5.99 or even 3.99, though most are 7.99. Pros: some very good deals to be found Cons: selection rotation insanely slow, horrible customer service more
