I read some of the reviews below and was prepared for a battle over my contract. That was not my experience at all. I entered into a 3 year agreement with automatic renewal? I can?t claim ignorance, I read the contract, and I knew what I was getting into. It?s the same as a cell phone contract. Recently, my job had to relocate me to a different state and I needed to cancel my service? unfortunately I did not have the foresight that a move was on the horizon when my contract renewed 3 months earlier for another 3 years. I called in ready to claim that I didn?t know, that I have been a loyal, good paying customer for 3 years and that they should let me out? etc. I had all the arguments ready. I called in and explained my situation. After being asked a few questions about trying to get the new home owner, moving my system, etc? (things I quite frankly did not have time to think about at the time) ? the extremely pleasant rep just said that I need to fax my notice in with my signature and she would take care of it for me! She thanked me for being a loyal customer? etc. I didn?t believe her at first and questioned all of these negative reviews. Apparently, at the start of 2010 they changed their policy with respect to holding people to their renewals. From what I gathered? the number of accounts held by enforcing the contracts was not worth the loss of the good will gained from working with their customers (my words, not hers). I faxed the cancel notice and my monitoring was discontinued. I did receive a follow call from a rep to see if there was anything further that they could do? I ended up recommending them to the new homeowner, AND after a few months of getting settled into my new place I EVEN CALLED THEM BACK to set up a system. I guess I was fortunate that my move happened in 2010 and they had new policies in place.
