Burt's Butcher Shoppe & Eatery

Burt?s Butcher Shop made an agreement with our company, that they would cater 31 steak dinners on Super Bowl Sunday at about 7:00 pm. Usually when two people make an agreement it is a done deal because that is just good business. This agreement was made a two about weeks before the Super Bowl. All of our staff had collected the money to pay for this dinner plus a generous tip was to be added to show our appreciation for Burt?s doing this for us on a Sunday when they are closed. Initially the dinners were supposed to be delivered. Then about a week before the deal was still a go but we would have to pick the dinners up, not a problem. Then on the Friday before the Super Bowl I was told that something came up and we would have to pick up the dinners at 12 noon knowing full well that no one would want to eat a steak dinner that was cooked 7 hours ago. I feel this was just made up to get out of the deal Most of the 31 people were Burt?s Butcher shop fans that is why we chose Burt? more

I've eaten at Burt's quite often. The Steaks are GREAT.. I must say that the person that cooks the steaks is the best. One day I would love to meet that person. Keep up the good work because the way the cook prepares the steak keeps me and others coming back.... more

I like eating their food its good and hot whenever I get carry-out.I been there more than twice and have not had complain yet. more

This was the worst dining experience I have ever had. Service was terrible. I took my mom out for Mothers Day, and now I feel so bad for taking her to this place. We waited an hour for our APPETIZER, the got our meal a couple minutes later. Our plates were hot, but the food was room temp. My steak was so-so, but the fries were terrible. My mom says her steak was good, just not warm. The only good thing I can say is they have great fried mushrooms, although not worth an hour wait. I don't want to rate it even 1 star more

I don't know where the previous review came from, Burt's is definitely not a dirty place. Now if you're expecting some romantic candle-lit restaurant this is not the place to go. Burt's restaurant is small with a down-home southern feel and while the setup is nothing special, their food is where its at and where it all counts. It was said they serve fatty cuts of meat...I dont agree but they have great deals like a 12 oz NY strip dinner for $10.99 so I wouldnt really expect a 1.5" steak of the very best cut. It's always been cooked to order (I had it once medium and my husband ordered it twice medium-rare). I've had my steaks over-cooked on numerous occasions at some of the more expensive steakhouses in town. As for the other food, I've had fried pork chops (HUGE dinner!) and the fried pork chop sandwich...sooo good! They def know what they're doing with the pork. We also love the butcher shoppe. THE DIRTIEST PLACE IN COLUMBUS - they can only cook steaks well done no matter how you order it- you think that because it is a butcher shop, the steaks are fresh (NOT!) Cheap Fatty cuts of meat. The other comments that say the food is great - must be written by those folks used to eating possum... They soak the steaks in Dale sauce - a very high sodium marinade - so you do not get the flavor of steak - you get the flavor of steak sauce.... service is slow, place is filthy. more

I've only eatin at the restaurant side one time but the butcher shop is where it's at. The secret marinade they have is the best around. I could drink it if it wasn't for it soaking in raw meat haha. Seriously, my steak of choice is the rib eye and they cut it as thick as you want it. They will wrap it up for you so it soaks in the marinade and even if you cook it just an hr later, it will taste great. (no need for marinading over 12 hrs with these guys) The bacon is super thick and tasty, and last thanksgiving, they had already sliced smoked ham. It was great. I haven't had a piece of meat there yet that wasn't delish. I'm picking up chicken and beef ka-bobs in an hour, can't wait!!!! more

Burt's had the best fried pork chop sandwich I've ever tasted. The mashed potatoes and cole slaw was slammin'. We came from Atlanta and was pleasantly surprised at the food we enjoyed at Burts in Columbus. The service was very friendly and worth the wait. Great prices too! more

If you have not tried burts steaks you must not live in Columbus, Ga. they are the greatest. Ofcorse they don't just have steak, being that they are a butcher shop that was just my personal favorite, thier meat selection is also wonderful to include the staff ha ha, I mean they were all very friendly and polite always . more

The best steak around. The people treat you like family and service is unparralleled. Five star food without the price tag or the dress code. I would highly recommend this place to anyone for dinning in or for all of you grill enthusiest out there. more

I absolutely LOVE Burt's. They have the best steak I've ever eaten (the marinade is awesome)! I also love their salad. And the sweet tea is perfect! Definitely worth every penny. more

My family and I love Burt's. We buy a lot of steaks from them and they are the best you can get in Columbus. We also have a lot of friends who go there and they like it as much as we do. It is a small place and you have to go early to get your steaks, hamburger and ect. or you will be waiting in line for a while. PROS: Some of the best marinated steaks CONS: Small and have to get their early to get what you want more

My husband and I went to eat here with much anticipation, but we were sorely disappointed. The service was awful, the food was so-so, the prices were high. more
