Editorial review from Citysearch 9/21/2013

Won't be going back to this place after last night's experience. My sister's burger bun had MOLD on it. The cook didn't see that????The waitress who had a sarcastic sense of humor, didn't see it? WTH. Then no mention to comp the burger until we asked to see the manager/owner. He didn't have the class to even come over to apologize. He sent the waitress back to us with a message saying he would either buy my sister a drink or comp the O rings we ordered. So disappointed. We ate there about four years ago and loved it. With all the other restaurant choices out there, (we are west siders) we won't be coming back to this place more

How do they stay in business? 12/21/2011

Tasteless burger on half done toast? Not at these prices. The only flavor came from the toppings. Fries were OK at best. Service is S-L-O-W. Don't know how they get all the business they do. more

Groupon fails to gain a customer 11/30/2011

I had bought a Groupon, thinking it would be a great opportunity to try out a different restaurant in town- $10 for $20 worth of food. It came down to the last day of the Groupon, and I still hadn't been able to get anyone to eat there with me, so I ordered $25 worth of food to carry out during my lunch hour. Upon reading the Groupon on my way there, the fine print stated that it was for ""dine in only"". Uh oh!! When I presented the server with my dilemma, she said that they were pretty strict with the rules, and that I would not be able to use the Groupon after all.\r \r I gave my Groupon to a couple who were dining in- I hope they let them use it!!\r \r I ordered tortilla chicken soup, Mimi's ribs, a pulled pork sandwich with Mimi's sauce, and sweet potato fries. The flavor of the soup and the ribs were good. The ribs were extremely fatty. The pulled pork sandwich did NOT have the Mimi's sauce (it tasted completely different than the rib sauce- I have no idea what kind it was, but I didn't like it at all). The sweet potato fries tasted slightly burned, and by the time I got to work to eat it, they were limp (steamed in the box?) and barely warm.\r \r A lot of my coworkers commented on the food that I brought in, so there was much discusssion about my experience. I sold the sandwich to a guy at work who claims he would eat anything- he said the pork was undercooked, and he was not thrilled with the taste of the sauce either (he had recommended the Mimi's sauce, so he knew what it should taste like, and that wasn't it).\r \r I hope to enjoy the rest of the ribs and soup for dinner tonite, but one thing is for sure... I'm not going back to Burgers & Beer. I think they got enough of my money, and gave me a pretty bad experience in return.\r \r I realize that it was my fault for not reading the fine print, but the food and the lack of willingness to compromise on the Groupon was something they did have control over... and they should have... IF they were interested in getting repeat business. more

charming, active, and delicious! 2/14/2010

This place is ""that small restaurant/bistro/bar that everyone wishes was in their town."" the wings, burgers, fries and especially ribs are totally addicting! Doug, the host/owner, is unbelievable! He makes you feel like you're the only customer (even though the place is packed!) I'd go here on any occasion, and can't wait to go back! They even have valet parking if you pull around back(something hard to come by in a small busy town like willoughby where parking is tough! Awesome! Pros: food/service/ambiance Cons: ate too much! more

This place is a dump 11/20/2009

This place was terrible from when we walked in but we were with friends so we stayed. The staff is horribly rude. Not a smile or anything when we were seated. The food was good but not worth the price. Our server was dirty looking and she grossed me out. The owner came by and smelled of booze. You could tell he really didn't care we were giving him some business. I would not eat here again. Cons: Nothing good about this place more

Food is fantastic! 3/2/2009

I have always loved whatever I ordered here. Sometimes they can be really busy so the service is a little slow, but have a drink and relax! Excellent place if you are looking for good bar food. The burgers are served on this delicious bread. They have many varieties of burgers to try from - some are stuffed with cheese and other goodies. I have had the breakfast here as well and it is very reasonably priced and very good quality. Pros: the food! good selection of beers too Cons: can be a little crowded - but only a sign of how good the food and drink is! more

Pretty decent burgers, awesome fries, pretty slow service 8/10/2006

Went to Burgers and Beer in Willoughby for the first time the other day. the parking situation is pretty bad, but we managed. We went inside the restaurant and discovered right away that this is a popular place! It was very packed. We stood there for a few minutes waiting for someone to seat us, but no one came. We then just figured that this might be a ""seat yourself"" type place. We grabbed the last table open and waited a pretty long time before anyone came to our table. My burger was pretty good, but I've had better at Outback and Cheesecake Factory. \r We also ordered a full order of fries which contained half sweet potato fries, and half regular. They were really tasty! It's a pretty good place, but I wouldn't tell people to necessarily go out of their way for it.....maybe just the locals. Pros: Good burgers, awesome fries, inexpensive Cons: Parking situation, crowded atmosphere, slow service more

Worth The Crowded Parking & Seating 10/18/2005

if you can find a place nearby to park, and aren't claustraphobic, this quaint little bistro serves what has to be the best burgers in Northeast Ohio. The burgers are served on french bread instead of your standard bun, and include a blue cheese stuffed, jalapeno, muffleta, and the king named a ""hamby"" - a full pound of grilled to perfection juicy beef that guaranteed to shave a year off your life and bring a smile to your face. Other menu items are also tasty, including the ribs with Mimi's original recipe sauce, and sweet potato fries . Come early weekdays, and enjoy Happy Hour specials like wings, loaded fries and shrimp for 1/2 price, as well as beer, wine and drink specials. There is a reason it's crowded - it's great! The wait staff is attentive, and often the owners are on hand, making certain everyone is satisfied. Pros: Burgers!, Value, Specials Cons: tight seating, little parking more

Best Bugers and Great Beer 9/23/2005

Burgers-n-Beer an oasis! 4/28/2005

Burgers-n-beer ranks up there with some of the best all American small burger bars across the U.S. The ribs(Mimi's original recipe) are awesome and the place, while small, is usually packed with fun loving, beer drinking folks from all walks of life. While I was there I bellied up to the bar with a construction worker on one side, lawyer on the other, a city official, and a teacher! The beers are cold, and the fries are hand cut curley fries from sweet potatoes! The wings are fantastic (hot/garlic!) A cool place! Pros: quality atmosphere, great food, cool/relaxed people Cons: occasional wait more

Burgers&Sweet Potatoe Fries 8/27/2002

Parking not the greatest but nice little beer joint. Stuffed Blue Burger and sweet potatoe fries is the way I go. Not your typical Burger Bun. Will definitely be back. more

Best in Town 8/7/2002

Absolutely terrific. A great variety of burgers - jalapeno burgers to portobello burgers. Service is always friendly and prompt. The owners Doug and Toni are always greeting and talking to customers to make certain all is o.k. more
