Thrifty Diner 8/5/2008

I had a great experience at Buona Sera... I had the ""Fruit of the Sea"" Pasta and this seafood pasta was just awesome! They also have many wine specials and events that I just found out about... The most important thing is that I found half off gift certificates through some radio promotion. Please visit: KABC . Com keyword Deals to purchase a $50 Gift Certificate for 25 bucks! Enjoy your great dinner here! more

Quality good, service good 5/25/2008

I walk to the bus every morning to go to work and see their sign up advertising Sunday Brunch. I decided to go today. I had a fruit plate, Bellini, coffee, water, Omelet with Italian sausage, provolone cheese and grilled tomatoes, diced fried potatoes, and a salad. All this for $25.38 including just short of a 20% gratuity. The fruit plate, the apples still had one or two seeds and the tough core was still present and was beginning to turn brown when it was brought to me. The Bellini was excellent. Just a little more peach flavor than I care for, but was still very good. The coffee was served as a mess. I literally had to take the saucer and pour coffee onto the sidewalk because the coffee had sloshed. Now the omelet! Where do I begin with THAT? Visually the egg looked like a crepe but texture wise was the lightest and fluffiest omelet I have ever had. The flavors (egg, sausage, cheese, tomatoes) all blended so everything complemented each other. The potatoes were perfectly cubed and fried with enough of a hint of salt to add anything to them would be a crime (along with adding to anything else). I still do not know what the dressing was on the salad. It was almost a vinaigrette but just enough to dampen. Portions were very sufficient. I did not leave empty. The service?well?that is why he did not get 20%. I somehow felt forgotten about on the patio. I will give them another shot, but inside next time. Pros: Excelent flavor Cons: Parking, meters. more

Longest Wait Time Ever, Highly Expensive, and Mediocre Food 2/15/2008

I went to Buona Sera for the first time on Valentines Day after seeing it on a web site as one of the top places in the South Bay to go for the special day. We arrived on time for a 7:45 reservation, were seated at about 7:55. The place was packed and there was very little space between tables. I could hear the conversation of a couple across the room. Our drinks came out almost immediately, but then we were forced to order off a fixed menu, some thing that was never mentioned to me when I made my reservation or on the web site when I checked it out. I ordered the egg plant parmigana for my appetizer, while my boyfriend had a shrimp scampi. My egg plant was pretty tasty, while his shrimp was nothing special at all. The appetizers came out at about 8:30. Our main courses did not arrive until approximately 9:10. The main course was not very large, but this was no problem, as we had already consumed a ton of bread for the past hour. The main course was ok; I had the pumpkin ravioli, while my boyfriend had some shrimp pasta dish. We then did not see our desserts until 9:35. I was going to just ask to take them to go, but we could not find our waiter so we just ate them any way in the restaurant. When we received the bill, we were both very shocked. The meal, with our 2 glasses of wine, came to a total of $140. $140 for the slowest service I have ever experienced and a mediocre meal. We both would have rather spent that $140 on a nice steak dinner at Ruth Chris, or the Palm, had we known better. I will never return to this restaurant and would not recommend this establishment to a friend. Cons: Every thing more

Really good Food 4/11/2007

It was our first time there. Our friends invited us. The food was really good, I loved all the pasta dishes. The homemade breadpudding & chocolate cake were fabulous. Really good service as well and very friendly. We will go back. Pros: The food & the service Cons: Nothing jumped at me more

Always good ! 11/5/2006

I wanted to write a review after reading the precedent one. Being one of our favorite restaurants in the area, we decided to go eat at Buona Sera for Valentine's Day. It was packed. I never saw the place busy like that before. So, yes, everything was a little bit slower than usual, but, it's what you expect anyway on Valentine's Nigh at a good restaurant. The food was as good as usual and the pre-fix menu had a lot, I mean really a lot to offer (maybe 15 differents dishes?...) and was reasonnably priced ($55/ pers I beleived). Our waiter, as busy as he was, was still very friendly and helpfull. Overall, we had a great night and will come back anytime soon ! Thank you Buona Sera ! Pros: Atmosphere, Food & Wine more

Best Italian 9/20/2006

This place is the best Italian I've had in the South Bay. Pros: food, location, parking Cons: Can get a bit loud but that's the not so "tie and suit" aspect that I like about this place. more

Great Italian food! 8/26/2006

We went here for Valentine's Day and it was amazing. Great service and amazing food. Everything was done beautifully and the ambiance was great! Pros: food, service, ambience more

Charming & Delicious 5/26/2006

I tried this restaurant with my long time friend after reading a citysearch review. Everything was true... We had a great time, the food was delicious, our waiter was very nice & charming. Great Experience. We will go back for sure... (The back room is very romantic). I will give it a 10 ! Pros: Great service, Fun Ambience, Great Food more

The best Italian restaurant in the South Bay 4/10/2006

We love it. This place is our favorite Italian restaurant. Finally a real fine dinning restaurant in our lovely village ! Food, wine, service... Everything is fantastic. We have been there for the first time in January, the Chef came to our table at the end of the dinner, it appears that he was working there only since 3 days... Well, in 3 days, I have to say that he did a fantastic job ! Rabbit Stew and Cioppino where at the special menu this night... Since, we have never been disappointed. Pros: Good Parking, Extensive wine list, Friendly Cons: can be noisy more

Overrated 7/12/2005

I've tried this place twice and there probably won't be a third. Although the atmosphere is festive, the service is poor and the food is only marginal and too pricey for the quality. Pros: Fun atmosphere, Fun bar Cons: Poor service, Marginal Food more

Lehua 11/16/2004

The menu is a showcase of fine Italian cuisine with contemporary California interpretations. Offering an array of inspired selections including home made pasta, fresh seafood, rack of lamb, and an assortment of appetizers and refreshing salads with organic ingredients. Delightful finales include flamboyant desserts such as tiramisu, flourless chocolate cake, panacota to name a few... and the wine list is continuously updated offering more than 145 selections. The service and food sets this place apart -- a repeat for locals -- food is too good to stay away. Pros: Service, Healthy Conscious, Wine more

Finally A Great Restaurant in Redondo! 11/15/2004

I went here with a friend for dinner and I can't say enough good things about this restaurant! The food and service were perfect. Everyone was friendly and everything we ordered was delicious! I found out that this place has only been open about 6 months, so if you are in the South Bay check it out! Pros: food, service, decor more

Finally a great restaurant in Redondo 11/5/2004

The area badly needed a restaurant like Buona Sera and I keep going back! It's a sexy twist in Italian dining in a cozy atmosphere. The service is impecable and not obtrusive. The ahi tuna with eggplant appetizer is out of this world as well as the pumpkin tortellini, risotto and scaloppine. There is always a creative list of daily specials that include fresh fish and the chef will prepare anything to suit dietary restrictions. There is an extensive wine list and decadent desserts as well. The food is so good, you're sure to overeat. I love the place! Pros: Easy Parking, Daily Specials, Wine List more
