I went to Buona Sera for the first time on Valentines Day after seeing it on a web site as one of the top places in the South Bay to go for the special day. We arrived on time for a 7:45 reservation, were seated at about 7:55. The place was packed and there was very little space between tables. I could hear the conversation of a couple across the room. Our drinks came out almost immediately, but then we were forced to order off a fixed menu, some thing that was never mentioned to me when I made my reservation or on the web site when I checked it out. I ordered the egg plant parmigana for my appetizer, while my boyfriend had a shrimp scampi. My egg plant was pretty tasty, while his shrimp was nothing special at all. The appetizers came out at about 8:30. Our main courses did not arrive until approximately 9:10. The main course was not very large, but this was no problem, as we had already consumed a ton of bread for the past hour. The main course was ok; I had the pumpkin ravioli, while my boyfriend had some shrimp pasta dish. We then did not see our desserts until 9:35. I was going to just ask to take them to go, but we could not find our waiter so we just ate them any way in the restaurant. When we received the bill, we were both very shocked. The meal, with our 2 glasses of wine, came to a total of $140. $140 for the slowest service I have ever experienced and a mediocre meal. We both would have rather spent that $140 on a nice steak dinner at Ruth Chris, or the Palm, had we known better. I will never return to this restaurant and would not recommend this establishment to a friend.
