You just never know... 2/5/2010

Sometimes this place is okay, sometimes not so much. The most disgruntled employee was female and wearing an apron. Stay in the kitchen if you can't be nice to the people who are ultimately providing your paycheck. Pros: Lots of screens for sports Cons: Cranky Staff more

GOOD TIMES 4/1/2009

I'm in there a couple of times a month for happy hour and it works great for me. All there beer is on special, including the good stuff. Great for the games but sometimes it can be a bit too crowded during the really good games. I LOVE THE JUKE BOX! Pros: Good beer, good tv's, good music. more

Great place to hang out 3/31/2009

This is one of my favorite places to go with friends to hang out, drink good beer, watch sports and shoot some pool. The service is great, and the atmosphere is cool and unpretentious. An added bonus is the lounge upstairs. Definitely recommend this bar it if you're not into waiting in lines and just want a good place to hang out with good friends. more

great place to hang out 3/30/2009

Buffalo Billiards is a great place to hang out with friends, relax after a long day or watch your favorite game with a beer in hand! The pool tables are always available and are in great condition. The bartenders and waitstaff are wonderful -- always very friendly and provide quick service. I rented the upstairs lounge for my husband's 30th birthday and everyone had a wonderful time. The general manager was very kind and accommodating to each and every request I had to help make the party a great success. I definitely recommend Buffalo Billiards! more

Best Choice for Games 3/30/2009

Great place to watch sporting events in Old City. Enough TVs that there's really not a bad seat in the house. Not just pool tables either, plenty of games to choose from if you're looking to have a good time. Pros: Attentive Service Cons: What are the drawbacks? more

This is one of the best bars in Philly! 3/9/2009

Buffalo has it all, great service, excellent beer on draft, great $3 happy hour with 1/2 price apps, golden t, big buck hunter, foodball, darts, shuffle puck, you could never get bored! It has always been a very clean, fun enviornment every time I go! Best kept secret is the upstairs lounge on Friday & Saturday nights that opens @ 8pm more

BE WARNED 5/31/2007

Too bad about this place because the pool tables are nice. But it is cramped and there were DEAD things on the floor (this review won't let me say the word, just think of Disney World and Mickey M----) There were also live ones that were dying- need I say more? If they cleaned the place up or got new ownership I'd go back. Consider yourself warned!! more

Crappiest pool hall ever 7/31/2006

The owners of this dump did an extremely poor job laying it out. Almost all of the pool tables have a corner obstructed by huge support beams. Why would you open a pool hall where the majority of the tables require use of a "shorty" stick? Lame, lame, lame. Pros: Nice Brunswick tables Cons: You can't play properly on the farking nice Brunswick tables more

A good place 6/1/2006

I go to Buffalo Billiards often. I love the happy hour - $3.00 well drinks and half off appetizers. The bartenders are extremely friendly and the service is good 99% of the time. It doesn't get super crowded and its just a fun place to be. Pros: good happy hour more

Good 5/1/2003

good spot to watch sports, they are nice enough during the big games to turn off the jukebox. if you are in olde city and dont feel pretentious, stop by buffalo billiards. Pros: big place, jukebox, lots of tv's Cons: olde city more

No tight shirts here. 4/14/2003

Buffalo Billiards is a bar for real people. The staff is extremely friendly, so you won't have to put up with bartenders with attitudes like you do at some other Olde City joints. And please leave your tight shirts and skirts at home. Jeans and a t-shirt are all you need! And you'd better have some taste in music, because the juke box is getting good! Pros: good juke box, friendly staff, excellent service more

Great Atmosphere 1/26/2003

I recently moved away from Philly after living there for five years. On a recent visit back I was happy to see Buffalo Billards, a staple in Washington D.C. It was clean, uncrowded, had great couches for seating, and friendly, attentive staff. After inching my way through the ever overcrowded Plough & Stars, I was very happy to find reprieve at Buffalo Billards. A definite must for those tired of crowded Philly bars...great view from the top floor lounge too! Pros: great couches, friendly bartenders, not crowded more

Great Atmosphere without Attitude 1/26/2003

What a fun spot! Laid back but lively, good atmosphere, great drinks, great munching possibilities, and, of course, the pool. Even for lousy players like me, this place is a blast. Not at all intimidating, like other pool halls I've been to in NYC and other cities. And lacking that "attitude" that so many other places in Old City have. This is the perfect place to stop in for a while, and then stay for the night! Pros: lively, relaxed, fun more

Three strikes 12/29/2002

Ive been to this place twice and both times was a letdown. First, its too expensive if you just want to play pool. A serious pool player can find a much better bargain. Second, the food was OK as bar grub goes, but it was nothing special. Third, the employees were unbelievably rude the second time I went there. Maybe it was an off night, but I will never go back again. Pros: nice pool tables, location Cons: too expensive, poor service, weak food more

Fun in Old City 11/26/2002

Buffalo Billiards is one of the few places in Old City that you can relax, enjoy an unusual variety of brews and play pool in an upscale environment. The lounge upstairs (with pool tables) is cozy and comfortable. The staff here does there very best to accommadate their patrons. I dont agree with the review of greasy bar food. The menu is enviting and the food is pretty good. Get in here soon because this place has only been open a short time and it is already rockin. Pros: lots of room, good food, friendly service more

A Great Hang Out Spot 11/18/2002

It's about time we had a great billiards place in Philadelphia! Buffalo Billiards has everything: fun, food, and lots pool tables. The atmosphere is warm and comfortable. I expect that people will plan to stop in for a drink and a single game of pool and end up spending the entire evening. more

COOL NEW BAR IN OLD CITY 11/7/2002

We went to Buffalo Billiards last weekend - what a great new place! It's the perfect mix - pool hall meets city chic. The first floor has a big bar, pool tables and plenty of spots to hang out and watch the action. The second floor has a cool lounge with couches and a great view. The energy and atmosphere made it a great time all around. This is definitely one of the new hot spots in Old City...check it out! Pros: Great Crowd, Plenty of Pool, Cool more

Excellent food, drink, and pool 11/7/2002

We went to Buffalo Billiards last weekend and it was great across the board. It has a great look and atmosphere, lots of pool tables (it's deceptively big -- don't miss the upstairs lounge), surprisingly good food, and, needless to say, lots and lots to drink. There were a bunch of couches and chairs on which to sit and relax, and the noise level is perfect -- you're not in a library, but there's not too much noise to drown out a good conversation. Last but not least, the service was particularly impressive. There was a diverse crowd -- it definitely seems like the type of place where lots of different types can co-exist peacefully. Pros: Big and comfortable, Lots of pool tables, Good crowd more

GREAT new pool hall in Old City 11/7/2002

I went to Buffalo Billiards last weekend and had a blast! Spent the first half of the night downstairs playing pool -- what a nice change from just hanging out in a bar. Later, my friends & I went upstairs. The nice bartenders mixed us some kickin' Cosmos and we hung out on the comfy couches with a great view of Chestnut Street. Philadelphia really needed a cool pool hall, and now there is one. I'm going to be a regular! Pros: Fun, Cool more
