I wanted to sell some of my old jewelery.So,I went to get it appraised @ the Famous "Great Estate Roadshow".After the appraisal,another victim uh,customer recommended Budget Buy & Sell. I was a little hesitant at first(after reading some unfavorable reviews).But,I said what the heck & gave them a try.After walking in,i was treated with courtesy and respect.When artie showed me the calculator,I almost fainted! The appraisal was 3x more than the original appraisal i received from the not -so-great estate roadshow.I am telling all of my friends & family about Budget Buy & Sell. Honest and more than fair 8/8/2011

James, the owner, could not have been more helpful. I was nervous about selling my old gold and about what to expect since it was the first time I'd ever been in a pawn shop. He was very nice and understanding. After looking over my pieces he gave me a price which I felt was more than generous, certainly more than I expected. He even persuaded me not to sell one piece as the senitmental value was probably more than what he could give me. I have since returned to sell some other pieces and will go back again. I've recommended them to my friends who have since had the similar experiences with Budget Buy and Sell. I feel comfortable going in there and find them to be honest and fair in all their dealings. more

Most money for your gold? What a crock. Not only do they give you the least they can, they assume everyone trying to sell, stole whatever it is they have. Now, I understand in their line of work they have to keep an open eye, seeing as I'm sure they get stolen goods time and time again. However, if you're a 20 year old male and maybe you forgot to shave that morning and you come in wearing a hoodie; they assume your a drug addict and treat you like dirt. I went to sell them my gold necklace and they asked me a million questions as to where i got it and why i was selling it. They offered me 20 bucks. I went to a jeweler who gave me 100 for it. It doesn't occur to them that a 20 year old male in school full time, may have nice things they need to sell due to the fact they have a ton of bills. I don't know a single person who has gone there and had anything good to say. I highly recommend you go there if you want to be treated like dirt by the scum of long island, and get no money for whatever you have; and further more, possibly have the police knocking on your door because you needed some extra cash. Biggest crooks in the business. more

WARNING - DO NOT LET THESE PEOPLE TAKE ADVANTAGE 10/16/2009

They outright lie to you on the phone to bait you in offering fair discounts (i.e. 97% of spot market) for pure gold or silver coins/bullion; they offered me only 90% when I got there, eventually stating that I needed 10 ounces of gold or more (i.e. about $10,050) to get this rate. Furthermore, I called two times in advance to verify their pricing and quantity was never mentioned on the phone (and I think that I may have eluded to it being 1 or 2 one-ounce gold coins). Pros: None Cons: Dishonest and Misleading more

    About Gold,Silver,Coins and Watches:


    Gold:


    Usually Stamped 10K or 18K and bought by the pennyweight (dwt). There are 18.2 dwt. to the avoir oz. or 20 to the troy oz. Dental gold must be yellow and is usually around 16k.


    Items stamped 1/20 12k - H.G.E. are gold plated and worth very little.


    We will be happy to test items that look like gold and are unmarked. If there are diamonds or other precious stones in the item brought in,we will add their value to the weight of the gold.


    Silver:


    Items must be stamped Sterling .925 - .900 - .800. Many items stamped Sterling are weighted with plaster and must be broken to get the true weight. Knives which have sterling handles are figured at 1/3 - 1/2 oz. each.


    Coins:


    U.S. 90% silver coins are dimes,quarters,or halves dated 1964 or older. U.S. 40% clad coins are halves only dated 1965-1969.
