car towed $172.50 to get back 4/27/2011

My car was in lot in back. I paid $6 for 3 hrs parking. minutes later it was towed. even though they had the plate number registered for the fee. Had to pay $15 taxi to worst part of Chicago to get back car after paying $172.50 towing fee. Didn't even get to use the $6 parking. WHAT A REAL CHICAGO EXPERIENCE! Didn't Steve Goodman get the S#!T kicked out after Lincoln Park Pirates was written? more

True Jazz, Good Cornbread, Decent BBQ 10/4/2008

Within walking distance from the loop, and a good atmosphere. Buddy Guy's is a breath of fresh air for a visitor from Seattle. We paid $10 per person for cover on a Sunday night and were treated to a good show. The environment was just right as there was a crowd but the place wasn't uncomfortably packed. My wife ordered the Pecan Pie and I had the Soul Combo. The pie was excellent and the Soul Combo was above average. The portion was huge but the ribs were a little tough. This is definitely a sit and listen to music kind of place which contrasts with Kingston Mines. The crowd was definitely older and appreciative of the vibe. I would recommend this place to friends as a must visit while in Chicago. Pros: Atmosphere, service, music and cornbread Cons: Ribs were tough and poor military discount more

Best blues joint in the city! 8/20/2008

born & raised on the southside of chicago & a very big blues fan, i have to say this is by far, THE best blues club in the city. in any city. great music, great people, great food, great fun. the after work sets are cool if you work downtown & wanna miss the big commuting crowd & just hang out & listen to some good acoustic blues - maybe grab a bite, grab a beer & play a little pool. the headliners are always a treat too. don't miss this place. more

Had a Great Time 3/25/2008

I was there this past summer and had a great time. It was jam night and We got to hear some really good local talant. I thought the Staff was pretty cool, just dont stand where the sign says not to! Someone I was with has a hard time getting around and the staff found him a seat right away. This was a good experience and the next time I am in Chicago I will be back. Oh yeah, be careful with the parking...bring cash!! Parking in Chicago is OUTRAGEOUS!!!! Cons: parking more

Great time! Get there early! 3/16/2008

I went to the show on Friday when Eric Sardinas was playing. I'd never heard of him and didn't realize he was so popular so when I got there at 9:00, there were no seats left. We were still able to see really well by the pool tables and could still order food. I guess if you want seats, come early but it's totally fine standing. Also, this place rocks now that it's smoke free!! Pros: music, atmosphere more

Not a good bar. 2/19/2008

Staff is rude. Security threaten innocent customers. Bizarre, angry staff is one reason to steer clear of this bar. Pros: location Cons: Angry wait staff. more

Avoid this hole in the wall. Rude! 2/15/2008

I went to this bar to have a couple of drinks, and at the bar met someone and started chating with this guy about a particular subject because the band had quit for the night (12:30 am). While we were talking the bartender interrupted our conversation with a solution that I did not particularly want to listen to, and I said "OK" and dismissed it and kept talking to my new friend, then the female bartender kept talking about how I was wrong and suggested I am stupid. I then said "Oh well, I'll just be Ok.". That's when one of the employees of this bar was all of a sudden sitting next to us and said an aggressive counter to the conversation. And I said "who cares" and the employee said "Well I'll just kick your butt right now!" My friend then said it's Ok, we don't need any of that." We just left. If this bar is offering counseling sessions from it's employees, or you want to get your butt kicked for talking to someone and expecting the employees to do thier job plus get into your personal conversation, then this is the bar you want to go to. more

Open Mike 8/10/2003

Most Blues Clubs are small. This one keeps that small feel in a relatively large room. Drink prices were great, food was a great value. I've been there with large groups and just sitting at the bar for great acts and open mikes. Why go anywhere else big. more

More seating 4/30/2003

I think that the pool tables, although entertaining, isn't why any one comes to Buddy's. This space can be used to seat more people or have a more accessable stage.(Better to see you with my dear) Besides this small suggestion, this place rocks, Beebies Pros: music, food, owner Cons: limited seating, limited views, limited seating more

Blues Heaven 1/13/2003

I saw Buddy for 2 nights here on 1/9 and 1/10...stood in line in the cold for 4+ hours to get front row/center table each night...completely worth it. For a true blues fan, Legends is absolute heaven on nights when Buddy is playing -- there is nothing that can come close elsewhere. The atmosphere is raw and pure, the food authentic and full of flavor and the service is excellent. If you haven't experienced Buddy playing right in front of you while you're sitting in the first row front and center, you wouldn't understand... Pros: Buddy Guy Playing, Sound, Food and Drink Cons: The night ends... more

Awesome 12/21/2002

I expected something corporate, like the HOuse of blues; but htis is a true blues joint. Good food, great atmosphere, diverse crowd, and good service. Get there early if you do not want to stand. more

GREAT MUSIC 9/24/2002

I had the pleasure of seeing Eric Sardines at Buddy Guy's Legends. He was very good. Plays like the man, Stevie Ray Vaughn. I sat at the bar and on the wall was Stevie Ray's guitar and a picture of him. I wished I could have seen him play there. I was very sorry we ate before we went there, food looked goood. We didn't know they had food. Never been to Chicago before and would like to visit again soon. Pros: FOOD, MUSIC, DRINKS Cons: LOUD, LOUD, LOUD more

Best I Ever Heard! 7/19/2002

What a terrific blues bar. Great music all nite long, from the opening acts to the headliner, Jimmy Thackery, the place was rockin' to the very best blues music I have ever heard. And the food was excellent, especially the jambalaya! We had a terrific time last nite! If you like the blues, you gotta try this place. more

Small venue 5/30/2002

Small , but worth it if you want to hear some of the best local blues bands. I recommend getting there early. I met Buddy once and he was very nice and totally laid back. Cons: parking, crowded, wait in line more
