Fabulous Thai food! 3/27/2010

Always consistent. When calling in an order on our way home from work, they are accurate in letting us know the timing of when our take out order will be ready. They run a tight very busy take-out service that seems to work like clockwork. Whether it be sitting in for lunch or dinner or take-out, I've never been disappointed. My husband loves the Forest Curry & I'm a Curried Rice & Larb Gai fan! Pros: Wonderful tasty choices, great friendly service & location Cons: Busy...but that's expected at a great Thai place! more

GONE WAY DOWN HILL 6/28/2009

We used to always order the crab fried rice to go. The last 3 times we ordered it, we'd get all the way home and there'd be NO CRAB in the rice at all - and hello, at $15 it ain't cheap. When this first happened I let it pass, the second time, I called to ask them why they gave us FIFTEEN DOLLARS worth of rice with no crab in it. It litterally had about 1 teaspoon in it, when it used to have easily 1/2 cup. The woman on the phone haggled with me and said she'd give us a credit for another one later, but it would have the same amount of crab in it as the one we had gotten which was nil. Sure enough the next time we got it, it had nothing in it. I feel like when you get take out at places they take advantage of the fact that you're going to be all the way home before you open the tied bags and find your surprise that you've been taken for a ride and charged exhorbedent prices for a bowl of rice with nothing in it. And then they have the audacity to give you attitude and tell you next time you'll also get no meat in your food. If you pay attention since the economy tanked you're getting less and less meat in your asian food dishes. Well, we aren't going for this behaviour at all, and I'm not afraid to let everyone else know the bad treatment you get. So, no more money from us RUKSA. you screwed yourself. Pros: used to be good Cons: since economy tanked they now sssuck. more

Get the Crispy Garlic Chicken! 9/28/2008

The Crispy Garlic Chicken is amazing. We had a party of 9 or so and ordered 4 or 5 of these and I could haven eaten two of them by myself. I couldn't get enough of it. So good. I don't usually feel that way about chicken. Chocolate, maybe. But chicken! I'm salivating just writing this. more

Consistently good Thai and good friendly service 8/26/2008

Definately the place to take visiting from out of town- that love Thai food. We love the Crispy Garlic Chicken two star! I also like the Black Bean beef with a few added ingredients( Broccoli and tomatoes) try it it's awesome. Quick take out for the times you don't feel like eating in. I think Buddha Ruksa is the best for the $ and Thai experience. We are lucky we live so close. Pros: Excellent, fresh Thai cuisine Cons: Hard to get a table on a Friday or Saturday night-get there early more

Delicious, Cool Place, Ample Parking on Street 6/24/2008

The food here is really good and so is the service. It is a small place, but it is well decorated and well laid-out. I tried the Garlic Chicken everyone talks about. It is extremly good. It is stir fried grilled chicken, as opposed to deep fried chicken. I prefer this because it is healthier and less greasy, but also because it has a better flavor (in my opinion). The crispyness comes from the garlic being blackened onto the chicken. It's fantastic. I will be returning to try some of the other entrees. Pros: Good Food, Solid Service, Great Wine List Cons: Small Place, Sort of out of the Way more

Best Thai food I have ever had 4/5/2008

I wasn't a big fan of the crispy garlic chicken until I ordered it spicy. WOW, what a difference. Eveything I have ordered on the menu is great but, I really love the monthly specials. It keeps me coming back. Look for the lettuce wraps - yum! They also have the biggest wine menu I have ever seen for a Thai place. Pros: The food Cons: Busy on weekends but worth the wait more

Best Thai Food in all of Seattle 10/14/2007

My wife and I went to Buddha Ruksa for the first time and it won't be the last !!! We have tried the rest, but Buddha Ruksa is the best !!! We have been looking for the best Thai restaurant in West Seattle and finally found it. We were there on a Saturday night at about 7pm, and it was very busy. It only took us about a half an hour to get our table. They do a lot of take out. Pros: Best Thai Restaurant in West Seattle, Service more

Consistently Good 5/23/2007

I really like the way the dining room here is decorated. The food really is the main thing, though. I recommend the crispy garlic chicken (who doesn't!) and also a dish called seven flavored fish (I think). It's an amazing sweet and sour type sauce. Mouth watering! Also, the appetizer called pots of gold, because the crab inside is spicy and creamy! Another of my favorites is the fried eggplant. They use Thai eggplant which is milder and smaller. I get it with pork and it's just so rich and delicious with tons of garlic. Pros: Delicious, fresh food, super friendly service esp. with groups, tastefully exotic decor. Cons: Their Phad Thai isn't as good as when they first opened. Long waits on Friday and Saturday nights. more

It's Unanimous - this place is great ! 2/16/2007

This is my favorite Thai in Seattle, and isn't there one on every corner? The decor is a little more upscale than your average Thai restaurant. The menu is pretty extensive and varied with lots of the usual (love their pad thai) and a few things I haven't seen elsewhere. The prices are reasonable and they even have a decent wine selection (i.e. not just Beringer). The staff has always been very friendly, helpful and easy to communicate with (sorry, but sometimes that's an issue!). Try the Crispy Garlic Chicken or the Prawn & Pumpkin Red Curry - yummy, yummy. It is small and intimate, maybe not the best for children and big parties, though I think they have a separate room for larger groups. It's usually pretty busy but I've never waited too long for either a table or take-out, (then again what's wrong with a nice thai beer while you wait). Everyone acts like West Seattle is so out-of-the-way, but this is right off the west seattle bridge with easy parking. Come on over, you won't be disappointed! Pros: great food, easy parking, good service, decent wines, reasonable pricing Cons: it's busy! more

mmm mmm good thai 8/22/2006

I live practically right across the street from this place and loooooove it. Even when I am not eating there the food smells great from my yard! Intimate dining, wonderful service and the food is beyond compare. My favorite is the Yum Neau (sp?) with the sticky rice. The duck is incredible. Pros: i am w/ in walking distance Cons: Parking more

GREAT Thai. Period. 8/17/2006

This is not your average Thai joint. The food is fresh, imaginative and flavorful, without being pretentious. The customer service is attentive and pleasant, and prices are reasonable. All of this is done in a great atmosphere, that's a little more sophisticated than the brick-a-brack decor of other Thai places. Try the Black Rice Pudding and the the Crispy Garlic Chicken, among their other impressive entrees and curries. Pros: Peanut sauce, vegetarian entrees Cons: A little hard to find more

forgot rice for takeout (twice!) 2/26/2006

We've had takeout a few times, and twice they've forgotten to include the rice we'd ordered in the bag. This last time, we ordered $80+ in food for 6 people who were at our house, and when we called to say what happened, the offer to remedy the situation was that we drive back and get more rice. They reluctantly agreed to not charge us for it--how generous! And when pushed, said they would refund one dish. It was really crappy service, but I have to say the food was really good. more

Great Food 1/15/2006

We are lucky enough to live down the street from this restaurant but unfortunate for us - we didn't realize it until recently. Now that we've discovered it, we have to try not to go weekly - but it's soooo good! Highly recommended. The Spring Rolls have a lot of pepper though - so watch out for those. Pros: Gret Food, Fantastic Service, Wonderful Takeout opt Cons: Not open on Mondays, Parking on street onl more

The best Thai food in town! 10/26/2005

I am so lucky to live right up the street from this joint. Always busy...and for good reason. Try the cashew chicken or the panang...it's the best around. Fried bananas for desert and you'll be back with friends in no time. The prices are very reasonable, and the staff loves to serve you! Closed on Mondays...just so you know before you drive all the way to West Seattle! Take out is better than doing dishes at home! Pros: awesome food!, friendly staff, location!!! more

This place is so good! 9/29/2005

Here is Seattle you can't look up without seeing a Thai restaurant. But Buddha Ruska is different from the other restaurants! The menu is imaginative and interesting, not just phad thai and variations on phad thai! The green curry is amazing as is the crispy chicken. We went in July, and the west side of the building is all windows, and it had been in the high 80's that day, so the interior of the restaurant was amazingly hot and uncomfortable, but we didn't mind as the food was THAT good. It's really great atmosphere too, and beautifully decorated. The prices are really reasonable too. I am shy to tell people about it because I want to keep it my secret, but it's so good and the people are so nice, I want everyone to go! Pros: really nice people, interesting food, great tasting food Cons: climate control more

My new favorite 2/19/2005

I love Buddha so much! The service is great, it has a nice ambiance, and the food is wonderful. Flavorful, fresh tasting, always prepared correctly. Take out is just as good as dining in, and you don't have to wait amongst others dining like some of the Thai places in this area. Crispy Garlic Chicken, Fried Squash, Phad Thai are all excellent. I can't recommend this place more. Pros: Service, Taste, Ambiance more
