Editorial review from Citysearch 11/16/2012

I've been a patient here for almost a year. Depending on the time of day you come for your appointment you may have a wait, but other than that I have never had a bad experience here. The doctors I've seen have always been so nice and personable - I've seen mainly Dr Cruz, but have also seen Dr Hessel. The girls at the front are also very nice and try to accomodate the appointments to my schedule. I have recommended Buckeye Dermatology to my family and friends and they like this office too. more

Would NEVER recommend 8/4/2011

I would not recommend Buckeye Dermatology. Even though Dr. Shen and Dr. Hessel are very very good. In short, this was my first ever visit to a dermatologis. I had a biopsy that got infected, the biopsy came bck abnormal and needed further excision. On the day to excise the biopsy I was informed that the infection was actually MRSA (office had info for 5 days prior). I was scared already about having the procedure done and when I asked the Dr. he took a few seconds of his time to assure me the MRSA was not a problem and I would be put on Bactrum. In short, I ended up in the ER 2 days later and have had a summer full of pain and $3,000 in bills. I requested the office reimburse me what I had paid out of pocket to the them to offset the ER/Dressings/Scrip etc bills as these would not have occurred if my ""TRUSATED"" Dr. had said let's treat for 2 weeks then cut. Because if the Dr. had not assured me the MRSA would not be an issue to the excision I WOULD HAVE NEVER GONE AHEAD. The reimbursement would have been minimal to the other expenses I have encurred because of this and would have restored faith that someone in that office cared about the patient and what happened after I left. But I was told NO it is on my insurance and I am basically out of luck all because I trusted the Dr. and signed the consent on his assurance. I will pay the bills I owe to the professionals who DID help me with the problem the exicision called and will be ever sorry that I was a good patient and paid Buckeye Dermatology in full each visit. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND more

To ""Angry Customer 55"": We apologize if any of our staff came across as rude. It is our priority to maintain a friendly and courteous environment. Please keep in mind that we have to bill copays based off of information provided to us by the health insurance companies. In order to make sure there are no delays in processing or problems requiring additional billing, we try to verify all information when a patient feels the copay is incorrect. \r \r To ""SEGCHS08"": We are sorry to hear that you feel you had a bad experience during your office visit. Our staff knows the importance of being welcoming and pleasant. Anything less is unacceptable. We also apologize for your wait. On occasion, there are moments when unforeseen situations during patient visits take longer than expected. The doctors do their best to be timely and efficient.\r \r To ""frecklefacemom"": We are so pleased to hear that you are happy with the service provided to you by Dr. Hessel and Buckeye Dermatology. Thank you so much for sharing your long term experience with our online readers. For every disgruntled patient, we have 1,000 satisfied patients. We certainly look forward to seeing you again. more

Dr. Hessel is Fabulous! 7/12/2011

I can't say enough great things about Dr. Hessel and his staff. I've been a patient for almost 5 years, and have always walked away pleased knowing that I've received the best care possible. I have never felt as though my appointments have been rushed. Dr. H. provides very thorough exams and explains procedures, and results well. In fact, Dr. H. has taken time to explain results to me and my husband when I called after the office had closed. I will continue to recommend Dr. Hessel and Buckeye Dermatology to everyone. Thanks Dr. H.! more

Very Good Experience 6/10/2011

Dr. Julio Cruz was very professional and thorough with my annual skin cancer exam. He explained things to me in a thorough manner. I only waited a few minutes in the waiting room. I also left with a bag full of free samples! I would recommend Dr. Cruz to any of my friends or family. more

Another Angry Customer 3/5/2011

I went to Buckeye Derm. 3-4-2011 and arrived 20 min. prior to my scheduled appt. time. I walked in and gave the girl at the front desk my name and she didn't say anything, i stood there she then asked for my ID and insurance card. Wasn't NOT friendly at all. Took my seat and filled out the papers, when i was finished i stood at the window for a couple minutes, while she was talking, took the clip board out of my hand and went back and started talking again. I then took my seat again. I was called back by a girl who didn't interduce herself, was placed in a room next to the bathroom where you could hear everyhing. I sat there for an HOUR with no explanation on what was taking so long. A ""doctor"" came in with a nurse she interduced herself, and did not. He put gloves on looked at my face and said hmm, you have ance on your chin. LIKE I DIDN""T ALREADY KNOW THAT!! He talked to his nurse for 5 min. and gave me 3 prescriptions and walked out. He was rude and not very good with his patients. His nurse then explained to me what each was for, ""thought thats what the doctor was for""?? Little to say i WILL NOT BE GOING BACK!! Horrible customer service and the Doctor was not worth the money to see. I also work in a Physicans office and lets just say if we ever acted like that i would lose my job, thank goodness our office is MUCH better then there. more

Angry Customer 5/7/2010

I went to Buckeye Dermatology on 5/3/2010. The receptionist charged me a $30.00 copay even though I told her it should be $15.00 copay. I paid the $30.00 copay and waited for my explaination of benefits to appear online. Once I saw the online explaination of benefits for that office visit it showed that a $15.00 copay should have been paid. I faxed Buckeye Dermatology a copy of the explaination of benefits and requested they refund the $15.00 overpayment. I then phoned them to make sure they got the fax and Brittany said she had received the fax, but she needed to talk to Danni in their billing office. I missed a call from Danni and then I returned her call. She stated that she contacted United Health Care and they were going to change the copay to $30.00 on the claim. I called United Health Care and spoke to the billing office and was told the copay should be $15.00. Deedee from UHC called Buckeye Dermatology office and spoke to Maggie and told her the copay should be $15.00. After much debate Maggie from Buckeye Dermatology said she would refund the $15.00 overcharge, but she would be contacting United Healthcare to get to the bottom of the confusion. This has been so much of a hassle that I will never go back to Buckeye Dermatology ever again. Dr. Shenn was very professional and I liked her, but I just don't want to deal with the office staff anymore. That's too bad that you like the doctor, but the staff is terrible. Cons: Office staff rude more
