Very Poor on this occaision 6/21/2008

I was sad to see the previous reviews not be too kind about this bowling alley but after going this evening I can't find much good to say. I was in a league here back in 1981 and it was nice then, but even though the place has been maintained and is current it had the feeling you would get at a roller rink where the place was run by teenagers. The ""music"" if you call it that was SO loud, that they had to turn it down before the girl behind the counter could even hear to talk to us. It was almost $4.50 a game and they had no shoes to rent between size 8 and 10 1/2. There were atleast 10 lanes available, and we were told that because they didn't have shoes, we could bowl in our street shoes. I have NEVER heard of that. If you are looking for a place to hang out with teenagers, you might be at home here... if you are looking for a place to go bowling I would not reccomend it. Pros: nearby Cons: unprofessional, loud obnoxious ""music"" incapable of providing service, more

Poor parking lot lighting...eat breakfast before you go 11/30/2006

The bowling center has been remodeled with new lanes and seating(still not enough). Very limited snack bar, that didn't get a facelift. There is not any kind of breakfast food offered. The bar is run down and smells horrible. Pros: Plenty of parking, modern equipment Cons: Parking lot is dark at night, not a state of the art feel more

Great lanes 3/7/2006

Since the last review is from 2003, I can venture to say that a more up to date one is in order. In the recent year, Thousand Oaks Bowl has completely remodeled the seating area around the lanes. These lanes are very well maintained by friendly staff who will help you with anything you need. The annoying ""Open"" animation that the previous reviewer described has since been done away with. High competition leagues take place on Thursdays (for adults), with most of the bowlers averaging in the mid-200s. Kids of all ages can get in on the fun on Saturday mornings in the (very well managed) BRC Kids League. Overall, these lanes are among the best in San Antonio. The staff is friendly, the lanes are well maintained, and the whole facility is very well managed. Pros: Dollar/Game Nights, Leagues, 4 days for Cosmic Cons: Expensive during peak, Can get crowded more

Seems pretty old to me.. 7/19/2003

There aren't many lanes there, so and it's not very big, so it does get very packed and cramped. Scoring computer is helpful, showing where your feet should be relative to your last shot. The ""Open"" animation on the screen gets annoying every open frame. The lanes seem a lot shorter than other bowling alleys (maybe it's just the size of the place). They do, however, have great deals every night, with such things being ""ladies bowl free"" and other package deals. Recommended for beginners and those looking to just have a good time (and smaller people!) Pros: Great Package Deals, Consistent Lanes, Good Parking Cons: Crowded & Small, Somewhat Expensive, Not-so-helpful People more
