Editorial review from Citysearch 7/17/2012

I will keep this short and simple. Bridesmaid dress: Generic material & poorly made. Brunilda: difficult person to work with as well as her staff including her Husband who both lie and avoid you if you have any issues. Bottem line: sued her & WON I got half of my money back for the dress and unfortunately got to keep the ugly thing (in which Brunilda tried to get back) Judge was irritated with Brunilda, wanted to throw her out for being very disrespectful, loud, avoiding the questions & talking over him. He was very disappointed with her and even gave her a few tips on how she should run her business because she has poor attitude & customer service. Good Luck! more

#1 for the Fabulous Bride-to-be! 10/6/2010

I went all over the Bay Area and beyond looking for the ""perfect"" wedding dress of my dreams. After coming up short I decided to go with a basic and add to it what I had envisioned. Brunilda ordered me the dress I had seen somewhere else and told me we could alter & add to make it ""mine"". After the dress came in she worked with me for countless hours turning this simple dress into a Gown I never wanted to take off! She really went above and beyond all while making me feel like family. My dress does look truly couture, I LOVE it!!!! If your looking for that impossible gown, Brunilda can make it happen for you!!! ***************************************** more

Do NOT shop at this store! 11/29/2009

Do NOT shop at this store! The owner has no integrity & will take advantage of you. The bottom line: Everyone should know that the owner of this store is unreliable, misleading & argumentative. She overcharges for sloppy alterations & sells defective merchandise. Do not make the same mistake that I did by giving your business to Brunilda's Bridal. My full story is: When I first walked in the store I needed a simple hem on a bridesmaid dress. The owner acted like she wouldn't help me because she said she only does alterations if you buy a dress from her. I was holding my dress in my arms & she was literally trying to sell me another dress! But then when she realized that wasn't happening she said, ""oh well, maybe I'll make an exception for you"" as if she was doing me a favor. I asked her how much it would cost & she wouldn't give me a price until she pinned the hem. I insisted on a quote & she said hems start at $40. I thought that was high but I was already there so I put on the dress so she could measure it. After it was all pinned she told me it was a ""more complicated"" hem & she would do it for $55. I was annoyed & argued that she said $40 but at that point I had already wasted so much time that I just said fine & left. When I went to pick-up the dress I tried it on. She tells me that the bra I have on is not good for this dress & she pulls out a bustier for me to try on. She gave me a size 38B. I am a 36D. She said she sells bras but they are in the back & she only gave me one bustier to try on. I thought the bustier looked worn, like other people had used it to try on dresses. I wasn't sold on the size so I told her I wanted to try on another size but she insisted she knew it was the right size & she was not going to give me another option. I felt like I was being backed in the corner & I never should have bought that bustier... Fast forward a few weeks until the day before I'm leaving for the wedding. The bustier is sitting in the same bag that she put it in when I bought it. I pull the bustier out of the bag & I realize that it is broken. One of the plastic boning strips is literally coming out of the back. She sold me a used broken bustier for $60! I decide there is no way I'm going to use it because I want to return it so I don't even bring it with me to the wedding. Instead in between hair/makeup appts and bridal party pictures I was running around Philadelphia shopping for something to wear under my dress. Also on the day of the wedding I realize there is something wrong with my dress...the inner material is sticking out near the neckline. One of the other bridesmaids had to rip some stitches to get the material to lay flat under the dress. So, somehow this ""3rd generation seamstress"" also managed to screw up a simple hem alteration. After the wedding I tried to return the bustier & she said she doesn't take returns. She didn't care that she sold me a broken bustier & there was nothing she would do about it. So, please save yourself the time, money & endless frustration. Do not make the same mistake that I did by giving your business to Brunilda's Bridal. Cons: overpriced, unreliable, pushy, misleading, frustrating more

Listen up Brides! You want a true professional you will get the best with Brunilda! 2/18/2009

I went through 4 different bridal shops, even went to San Francisco to find my wedding dress before I found Brunilda's Bridal. NONE gave me the attention nor the expertise I was looking for till I came here. I can't emphasize enough that Brunilda is first class. She gives you not only her expertise in servicing you but she puts pride in her work which is very rare to find these days. She actually cares about your big day and wants everything to be perfect for you and it shows in her work. I not only purchased my dress through Brunilda but the groom and groomsmen got their tuxes fitted and altered here too. She is a joy to work with and you have nothing to worry about when you are in her hands. I loved the way I looked on my big day, and so did everyone else! Thank You Brunilda! - with love Elisia Pros: Experienced, Professional, Honest, Economical, Resourceful, Unique, You will look Beautiful! Cons: You won't regret it! more

One of a kind bridal shop 2/1/2009

My oldest daughter chose her wedding gown at Brunilda's Bridal in Napa. This in itself surprised me since my daughter lives in Redwood City. But she found this little shop and knew that this is where she wanted to purchase her gown. Once I went there with her I knew why. What a surprise and joy this store offers. The wedding gowns are amazing and the prices better than most. But most of all was the terrific one on one, individualized customer service by the owner herself. She truly has an incredible ability to ""read"" her customer and with her many years of experience, we were quite happy to trust her to help my daughter to create a wonderful wedding experience. We have just begun the process and already feel like family. She was very up front with us regarding all charges and while she offered suggestions she also showed us the highest respect when it came to our needs and wants. Pros: Customer service, selection, stress free shopping, parking, expertise Cons: Can't think of any! more

Things you need to know before you go there! 1/31/2009

My fiance and I had gone into brunilda's bridal to pick up some bridesmaids dress magazines so I could get an idea of what I wanted my girls to wear. Brunilda had asked if I had chosen my Bridal gown, and I told her I had already purchased it elsewhere, though I would need some alterations done to it. She told me, while my fiance was right there, that if I purchased my bridesmaids dresses from her, she would do my alterations on my dress for free, on top of giving my bridesmaids 15% off. Sounds like a good idea to me!! 5 fittings later I have had to deal with Brunilda telling me my dress doesnt fit right because I need to lose weight! NO! Its because I made the mistake of telling you I wanted to tone up and you took it in 2 inch! And now that I have toned up some and it fits, she's telling me I still need to lose weight. On my final fitting, Brunilda asked me who was paying for the alterations...what alterations are we talking about? She told me for my dress!! WHAT!? She told me she never told me she would do my alterations for free! I could have purchased my bridesmaids dresses elsewhere, instead I chose to purchase them from her! And her prices arent cheap! Im ready to take my business elsewhere! Her job is to make the bride feel beautiful! Regardless of her weight! Her job isnt to put people down!! I wont EVER go to her again!! No one should have to deal with what Ive been going thru for awhile now! I dont care if she claims to be the best seamstress in town! Her sales skills are tacky and uncalled for! Pros: Beautiful Dresses Cons: Tacky, put downs, controlling, makes your confidence drop more

Very personal, very friendly service! 5/4/2008

My husband and I wanted to take our daughter for her first wedding gown fitting while she was staying here in Napa with us for the weekend. I knew that it was probably going to be impossible to get an appointment on a Sunday with such short notice so I crossed my fingers and quickly did a websearch and found Brunilda's. After reading the other reviews I almost decided not to call but our daughter was very excited so I went ahead and called. Brunilda set us up with an afternoon appointment that same day. She welcomed us warmly when we came through the door and asked us if we had an idea of what we were looking for and what our budget was. We told her and she said to feel free to look through the dresses and pull out what we liked and she would help us with fitting them and give us ideas if needed. She was very friendly and warm through out the whole process. She never pushed the most expensive dress on us but always asked which was the one our daughter felt the most comfortable and special in because that is what counted the most. She though that it was sweet that my husband was with us. We actually found the dress we wanted and she will do the alterations right there at a very reasonable price. The pressing is included with the purchase of the dress. You aren't allowed to take pictures when you are just looking as is the case with most bridal boutiques, but once you have purchased the dress and go in for your fittings, you can take pictures then. I am so glad we decided to give Brunilda a chance. We will be returning with our other children when they marry too! Pros: Beautiful gowns, reasonable alterations, friendly service more

Brunilda is a life saver and such a great business woman! 4/14/2008

I had an emergency with my luggage for my sister's wedding the next day. My luggage with the dress I was going to wear NEVER SHOWED UP. I don't even live around there, didn't know where to go. I walked in 15 minutes before Brunilda's store closed and it didn't phase her. She was so comforting and helpful. After explaining what happened, and realizing what time I arrived at her store. She told me to take my time and find the dress I liked the most, try it on, and if I liked it, she would alter it THAT NIGHT! She DID! The very next day at 11AM PST, she had the dress ready to go! She even offered to dye some shoes for me the night before if I found a pair that I liked! I realize that she sacrificed her personal time to have the dress ready for me in a last minute emergency. She is truly a person who cares about her customers and their needs. I am grateful for Brunilda because she saved me from looking foolish at my little sister's wedding. Pros: smaller store, less selections Cons: smaller store, more personalized attention, great sales! more

Disappointing experience 1/9/2008

Being the only bridal shop in Napa, I chose to take some family with me over the holidays to check out dresses, it was going to be my only opportunity to dress shop with my mom because I live out of town. This being my first time trying on dresses, I didn't know all of the ins and outs, or even what to expect. I thought it would be fun to have my mom there, let her see me in a couple different gowns, get a few pictures... just have a good time. Well apparently, you can't take pictures, Brunilda picks out your dresses for you, and she doesn't even tell you the designers. I suppose it's to protect her precious sale... but telling me that the dress I was trying on was one of the most popular designs of 2007 wasn't too smart, looks like I'll be finding a similar dress elsewhere now huh! The best part here is when I went to look around and pick out a few gowns for myself, she said that only she knows what looks good on me, and when I grabbed one to try on because I'd seen the style in a magazine and thought I'd look nice in it; she said ""You can try it, but it won't look good on you"".... Excuse me!!!! As if all of the fun hadn't already been sucked out of the experience for me... I was done, no butterflies and teary eyes, no satisfying feeling of the ""perfect dress"". I walked out of there annoyed and my mom didn't even get a picture out of the deal. Pros: Decent selection, beautiful dresses, in-house alterations. Cons: uncomfortable setting, pushy sales tactics, no pictures. more
