Bruce Stuart Fieldman DMD PC

My kids have both been seen here a few times; they are currently 6 & 4. My daughter gets very nervous at doctors' offices & in new situations, and right from the first visit, Dr. Bruce had her leaving the office smiling, even after her second visit, where she screamed bloody murder just getting into the chair to have the hygienist get started with the cleaning. Neither of my kids have ever had a cavity, so I can't speak to any surgical or dental problem issues, but Dr. Bruce seems to be one of those people who was meant to work with kids. He has an easy, gentle, jovial manner with them, and made my kids feel like they were having a special, fun time instead of any type of required visit (despite my daughter's fear of the cleaning.) The office was neat & clean, with cool toys for kids to play with, the staff is friendly and helpful (which is more than I can say for or dental insurance co,) and the kids always get sent home with basically a goody bag of fun, tooth-safe treats. more

As I read other negative reviews I'm shocked! That's so sad that people had a really bad experience here but I lov them..my 7 yr old daughter had a severe gag reflex and can not have work done nor X-rays in the office. We have tried everything! We did end up having her put under at St v's to have all her dental needs taken care of.. Yes it's expensive but I would rather spend the money on her teeth being properly cared for than to have to spend thousands later having them removed due to lack of care.. The hygienists ate wonderful and the staff.. My 13 ur old just had braces put on and it was much needed.. Sges very comfortable with all the staff and doc's.. I can not complain, I am willing to spend a little extra to ensure my kids are healthy :) more

Good: I didn't like one thing, office is cold and dirty, very old video games for the children to play, WEB t.v. in teenage room broken??. Bad: Everything, and niew dentist are there now, so apparently this Dentist was forced to stop doing dentistry......you tell me the real story!!. Improvements: the office shut down and and get a "normal" staff in there to work.. Other: You really should think twice about seeing this fool, all he wants is his $$$$$, he tells you one thing and does ten times more when your child is in the chair.. more

This practice overcharges and lies to the parents about what work REALLY needs to be done. This practice has been penalized by the Massachusetts Board of Registration. Do yourself a favor and find another dentist.....you will save thousands of dollars and your child will receive better and more professional treatement. After bring my child here I learned the hard way. more

I took my 3yr old to dr. fieldman for a cleaning and was told that he had a lot of cavitys and needed fillings and possibly to be put under anesthesia to have all the work done. They said we could try laughing gas and see how it goes first. They tried without the gas at first and filled one tooth. the second one he started to wiggle around so they said he refused treatment. they never gave him the gas. So they said he needs to be put under at st. v's and have the work done. They didnt do any xrays. And we were told that if we wanted a 2nd opinion there is someone that is a dentist in worcester that has someone drive in and they do it all in the office and he likes to do it in the hospital incase anything goes wrong. So basically we could get a 2nd opinion but its better to do it in the hospital. Well we went to another dentist and they actually did xrays. They said a root canal is not needed and he does not have 8 cavities! he has some tooth decay but we dont need to put him under. If we didnt get the 2nd opinion we would of paid at least $1200 out of pocket from the estimate. He would of done a root canal and filled 8 teeth that dont need to be filled. And they also suggested cleanings every 3 months. insurance only pays for every 6. They office was very friendly and i did like them but I was not comfortable having my son put at risk. Just get a second opinion. more

The staff at this office was always nice to my children, for whatever that is worth. However, the dental office terminated it's contract with my insurance and failed to let us know. My kids saw the hygenist and dentist after that and my insurance refused to pay, saying there was no contract. Even the office manager at Dr. Fieldman's office admitted that they no longer have a contract with my insurance. WHY was I never notified? I show my card at every visit and I was never once told that they no longer accept my insurance. Now I am stuck with a $228 bill that my insurance refuses to cover, and that the office won't absorb, despite it being their lack of responsibility in refusing to notify us that they no longer accept our insurance. Oh, and while we were waiting for an answer from the insurance company about all of this, Dr. Fieldman's office so kindly slapped us with a late fee on our bill. This office ripped me off! more

i am so glad i brought my son here-he had extensive dental work with general anesthesia-elaine is adept at explaining procedures and an asset to this practice.dr fieldman is gregarious,professional,clearly enjoys his work..incidentally i took my kid for dental check-up on dental mobile at his school the other day- the dentists were amazed at the high quality work on my son's teeth..i disagree with previous review- the costs are explained clearly prior to any procedure,you then have the option of going elsewhere that is cheaper but if you want 1st class professional dentistry for your child-dr fieldman is it...-love the tvs on the cieling and colorful lobby,the exam rooms are child friendly and the hygenists are all knowledgable and friendly.instruments are clean and privacy is maintained.dr fieldman cares for the patient as well as the family and there is alot of emphasis on teaching and preventive care which is invaluable more

Look up his record with the board of Dentistry. This man is a horrible person who will lie about work needing to be done and endangering children's lives to line his pockets! Stay far away! Several better dentists in the area. Don't let his fun looking office, and his happy go lucky attitude trick you. He does not care at all about the welfare of your child! more

I quoted an estimate for my son to receive treatment. Later I received a bill that I owed 3x's the amount the office quoted me. The explanation I received was that different work needed to be preformed that was the hygienist first thought. I wrote a letter explaining that we were not in situation to pay over $2,000 more than what was quoted but that we could pay the original quote around $1,200. I received the next bill with a courtesy credit of under $200.00. I can not help but feel I was taken advantage of since I had no choice once the procedures began nor was I consulted or told we would owe more money. Please be careful when working with this office. I have three children that have gone to Dr. Fieldman for several years when I started to become suspicious of the diagnosis. At my own dentist the doctor actually reads the xrays and determines any procedures, that is not the case with Dr. Fieldman. The hygenists read the xrays and have mis-diagnosed cavities in my children's teeth on 3 different occasions. I have brought them to the filling appointments only to find out there are no cavities.I have since switched dentist to avoid any further malpractice more

My daughter has been going here since she is 3 and she's now 9. She actually says "Mom, aren't I do for a dentist appointment soon?" They have little a little goody bag with trinkets the kids can pick from on the way out - and that's enough to make it really a great experience for her! Elizabeth, Auburn MA more

Dr. Bruce truly is one of a kind!!! Every time we go to his office the staff is beyond pleasant and friendly. My little girl, 3 years old, just had an hour and a half oral rehab surgery with Dr. Bruce. He was so amazing with her. He spent time with her before the surgery and spoke to her as if she was his own. Preparing our daughter for anesthesia was very stressful for my husband and I but knowing she was with Dr. Bruce alleviated many of our fears. He made an incredibly stressful time for my husband and I and easy one. His nurse came out to speak with us during the surgery and called our cellphone 3/4 of the way through for an update. After the surgery, Dr. Bruce came out to speak with us and had a big bag of toys for our little girl. He is AMAZING. The next day, Saturday, Dr. Bruce called our house to check on our daughter - now what doctor takes time out of his day to personally make the phone call !!!! Our daughter is so excited to see him on Tuesday for a follow-up, she adores him. I think that explains it all - she still adores him even after a long painful surgery! This office is geared to make your child feel as comfortable as possible. It is the kids office. He has games, books a nice play area. The rooms are comfortable and bright. There are rewards for all at the end, stickers and little toys. I'd just like to add that Dr. Bruce cares and so does everyone in the office, that is so rare! I bring my girls, age 6 and 11 both. I am very happy with the services! You and your children will both feel at ease here. I grew up going to a "horrible" dentist and still have fears to this day. I wish he could be my dentist! Everything about this placed is designed to make your child feel at ease. The waiting room is filled with toys for smaller kids, video games and such for older ones. The staff is super friendly and they really take the time to make small kids feel less scared. The staff did a wonderful time taking care of my children. They do everything slowly and do a great job of explaining what is going on. The rooms are bright, casual and not at all intimidating. Dr. Fieldman is great with kids and parents. He is kind, happy and helps make it easy for little ones. They also give out cute stickers and small toys as you leave with is a huge hit. more
