Editorial review from Citysearch 8/31/2012

I was refered to Raleigh Ear Nose & Throat and i was very impressed with how friendly everyone was. I was a little skird and the Dr. told me his name and asked me a few question's and also did some test's and he order a hearing test's and xray and after that i went back into a exam room talked to him. The Dr. also told me that i would have gall's wraped around my head like a turbend. I had 2 right ear surgery's at Wake Med Hospital 2 different's time's. One time i had a privet room and the other time i shared a room. more

Don't Bother 4/9/2012

Came into the office to see Dr. Patterson because I had large canker sores in the back of my throat that did not go away. He wasn't rude in anyway but was very apathetic and basically said ""I don't know what to tell you"". He prescribed me antibiotics (even though I told him that I had already been on 2 types of antibiotics that month). It was huge waste of time and I just got a 250.00 dollar bill. more

Kind but strict 3/6/2012

Dr. Brown came by way of several recommendations so I am confident that her abilities as an ENT are acceptable. She has a friendly face and is respectful. I am not happy with our experience however, as she has a philosophy that the parent should not be allowed in the room for procedures because it is ""surgery"". Obviously if she is not going to sedate an infant, the child will be very scared and the research I have done since indicates that this is not common or best practice. There is no reason why a child that young should be forced to undergo any procedure without anesthesia without the comfort of the parent in arms reach. Also, she was very conservative in her treatment and the procedure had to be redone. She was humble enough to apologize that my little one had to go through that again, so at least she cares about her patients. more

Overall good practice 3/6/2012

Depending on which doctor you are seeing, and for what reason the practice is good. Find out the specialty of the doctor you are going to see as they do have different areas of interest and specialization. Some doctors are also more fussy than others about treating children, for example Dr. Brown did not allow me in the room to do a procedure on my infant. While she may be a good doctor and respectful, I regret allowing my children to experience that fear and think that it is not best to separate an infant from it's parent unless they are going to be sedated. more

Excellent Care! 12/11/2011

We have seen Dr. Clarkson, Dr. Boyce, Dr. McMahon, and Dr. Gerber between our children. Each doctor has had excellent bedside manner with the children, putting them at ease. They also developed a great rapport with us at parents, listening to our concerns and answering questions. When we had tubes put in for one child and tonsils taken out for another, they treated our children surgical skill, AND with care and compassion. We have been so pleased with them and referred many friends who also share our high opinion of Raleigh ENT! Also, the office staff is professional and friendly - our children love ""visiting"" the office! more

Great Experience with Caring Doctors, Nurses & Staff! 10/12/2011

We are patients at the Anderson Dr. office and have seen several of the ENTs. Recently, my daughter had her tonsils taken out by Dr. Clarkson. He was great with her - he spent time talking to her, answering her questions (when can I have ice cream?) and making her feel comfortable and less scared. This counts a lot for me as a mom! Plus, he spent time explaining the surgery, post-op care, medicine, etc. and made us feel comfortable with everything. If you want a caring, quality ENT practice - this is it! more

Very Kind and Caring 10/7/2011

I was very impressed with how friendly everyone was. Most physician offices act like you don't matter. At this office everyone speaks to you and are very friendly. I had a hearing problem and got great advice and care. I will definitely recommend them to all my friends. more

They took such good care of my son 10/6/2011

We first went to Raleigh ENT because several of my close friends - and my Mom's best friend (they've been around forever!) - suggested the practice. Our son was having ear infections over and over. They were very nice and made our son (and us) feel at ease. After trying antibiotics for the first few infections, it looked like ear tubes might be the best solution. My husband and I were nervous at first, but our physician helped us to understand the surgery and what to expect. Everything went great and our son has not had any more problems. I really appreciate everyone who helped us at Raleigh ENT...nurses, doctors, everyone. I'm really thankful we went there. more

Poor Practice. Expensive Allergy Treatments. 6/16/2011

Poor ENT practice, expensive allergy treatment I've been to 4 ENT's through the years. Of the 4, one particular doctor in this practice was the worst. I've had a chronic problem for the last 4 years and came to this ENT. I'd been on 3 rounds of antibiotics. The Dr. C did not even look in my nose and proposed another round of antibiotics! What kind of ENT doesn't look in your nose?!?! The good news is, I found a VERY good ENT in Chapel hill who looked in my nose with a scope on the first visit, diagnosed the problem (damaged mucosa) and got me back to 100% in 4 weeks. I was unimpressed by Raleigh ENT's bedside manner, their poor ability to diagnose a very simple problem (only needed to look in my nose!), mis-treat with antibiotics after the patient TOLD them emphatically that after 3 rounds of antibiotics they weren't working, and it turns out Raleign ENT is very expensive compared to both my new ENT and my allergist when it comes to allergy shots/treatment. I can't say you should definitely stay away, because there may be some good doctors in the practice, but I can say you should be very cautious when coming into this practice. If you are looking for a good ENT, I recommend you look in Chapel Hill, I had to go to several in Raleigh and didn't find a good one until I went to Chapel Hill. It's worth the 45 minute drive to get a proper diagnosis. Good luck. more

If you CARE about your HEALTH do NOT go to Raleigh ENT!!! 9/21/2010

If you CARE about the HEALTH of you and your family/friends do NOT go to Raleigh ENT! This doctors office cares NOTHING for there patients! They only care about getting as much money as possible out of you and your insurance!! My family and I had gone to Raleigh ENT for over a decade, I thought they were doing a decent job despite not really solving any of my lifelong sinus issues. I never thought their was an issue because if the medicine/ testing/ treatments didn't work they would place the blame onto me. After leaving for college my sinuses had become so closed I couldn't breath through my nose; I found a local ENT since Raleigh ENT failed to help me. After Raleigh ENT faxed over my (phone book thick) records (a week after I'd asked) my new doctors did the very basic testing: head scan and allergy testing; these are tests that Raleigh ENT had done multiple times without any results. After my new doctor returned (within 15 minutes) with the head scan, I was shocked by what he showed to me. I had a severely deviated septum since birth and NO ONE had ever diagnosed it! After looking back at my visits to Raleigh ENT I recalled all of the passing of the buck (never consistently seeing the same doctor), if a treatment didn't work out it was my fault (since supposedly my body was rejecting the medication or the treatments), and the time consuming testing they would do. After spending hours getting my hearing tested they insisted on me going to a specialist, there I spent 3 hours in a waiting room before speaking with a doctor who didn't understand why I was even there since Raleigh ENT had already done the testing! This was just about getting the insurance money! The final straw was remembering my last visit: I arrived 5 minutes early to my afternoon appointment, the point of the appointment was a 6 month follow up for a hearing test. Once there I was told my insurance card had expired; I was on my mothers policy, she was also a patient but they insisted on having her fax over the new insurance card before they would let me in the back. After I called her and dealt with this issue they mentioned that the doctor was leaving soon (more than 1/2 early from closing time!) but despite this time issue they wouldn't let me see him until the fax came through. Once the fax came I was raced into the back where the doctor was already waiting. He didn't even know why I was there! After reminding him of my follow up he shrugged said there wasn't time nor was it necessary (contrary to what they'd said before, I was there to test if my hearing was getting progressively WORSE) , he wrote something in the file and stood up to leave. I quickly asked about getting a prescription for my sinuses which he whipped out his prescription pad after a quick glance at the LONG list of other meds I'd tried) wrote me a prescription and rushed me to the front check out. There the receptionists checked me out and asked for the co-pay; it was my moms plan and we'd met the deductible so I knew there wasn't one. I told them this and they refused to open the door to let me leave without paying the copay, they claimed if this was true the would refund the money (this never happened). This doctors office cares NOTHING for there patients! They only care about getting as much money as possible out of you and your insurance!! more

The facility is clean - the receptionist are very polite and helpful. The waiting room is nicely decorated and the wait short. The doctor is a good and patient listener. A care plan is devised, is reasonable and not too radical; one step at the time to determine the cause of the problem. Pros: pleasant surrounding, professional staff, short wait more
