Best

These guys are located a hop skip and a jump from my home in woodland hills. They are delicious and affordable easily one of the best sushi places in the valley.

Best food in town 7/7/2011

Best food in town Food is amazing. Every time I come here, I feel like I never want to leave. Very chic atmosphere with a relaxing mood. The service is great and the staff really does a terrific job at taking care of you. The appetizers are delicious. Theres plenty of places to park: theres a parking lot across the street and a parkin garage up the street within walking distance. Most of the time I find myself looking at my watch waiting for the food to come, but here I was so entertained with the fun atmosphere that I was pleasantly surprised when my food arrived more

Not bad, too expensive 7/4/2011

I could eat sushi for breakfast lunch and dinner.. Brothers is good, but the wait made the experience a little lame. Everybody talks about this sushi being fresh and I tend to agree regarding the fish, but I thought the rice was not quite up to par. The staff was friendly, (sushi bar) and the service was good, but for the money and the long wait, I might investigate other places before I return. more

Over-rated; over-priced 9/3/2010

Read the review -- so I wanted to try the place out. Have heard great things about Brother Sushi for many years, and finally got the chance to go. Bad idea. My order -- tuna sashimi and tuna roll -- was very mediocre. Main complaint: it was definitely NOT fresh -- the tuna was dark and warm and the IKURA, especially, arrived to the table with a residual, cloudy look and was warm and soft -- not fresh and firm and clear as it should be. The wait staff was sluggish and non-responsive. Sweet shrimp was okay -- but not worth the enormous prices they're charging for it. The place is mediocre at best. Atmosphere was predictable and had a cheap, cheesy feeling. Also -- notice that all the 4-star reviews are old. There's clearly something that has changed in this place. So many people couldn't be wrong. Don't bother with thiis place. Drive a little. Find something that is worth the $$, Have heard the hype. Quality is not what it should be. Troubling: there was a fishy warm odor to the place. Definite disappointment. This was a downer. Even the chicken teriyaki had a frozen, veiny quality. Got the feeling that they were having refrigeration issues. I hope this isn't what the Valley consider good sushi. You'd be better off with a leancuisine. Prices were outrageous for the quality: 110 bucks for three people. Pass. more

These reviews are dead on: Excellent Sushi! 4/9/2010

This is just down the street from my work (lucky me) and I had been reading some reviews this week for local sushi places, and this one really stood out. Now I know why: It's excellent. Very fresh fish, daily specials were great, chef was very friendly, handled special requests with a smile. Can't recommend this place enough! Pros: Very fresh, friendly chefs, good specials Cons: Can be a bit of a wait more

Best Sushi! 4/7/2010

This is my wife's favorite place. Been to some fancy, high-falutin' sushi places like Nobu New York, that sushi nazi guy in LA, etc., but they don't compare to Brother Sushi-- seriously. and you don't need to be (or pretend to be) a sushi connoisseur. They will serve you what you want, the way you like it. if you don't know, just ask the chef, and he'll whip you up something delicious. you can get authentic sushi if you are a purist, you can get natto and ankimo if you feel adventurous, or get funky Americanized roll if that's your thing. unpretentious, fun, and simply delicious! Pros: great service, great people, awesome food Cons: waiting for your spot at the sushi bar more

Best Sushi in the Valley 12/10/2008

I've been coming here since my young'n days. It's a small hole in the wall in the SFV that offers fresh sushi. For non-sushi eaters, try to Kerri cut roll, or the garlic shrimp roll.\r \r Otherwise, there torro, yellowtail, tuna and salmon always seems fresh.\r \r On top of that, they have by far the best tempura fried ice cream!!!! Unlike other places where the ice cream is melting, the flaky and crusty tempura later is sizzling hot, while the ice cream is frozen like a block of ice.\r \r Make a reservation though! Pros: Fresh Sushi, knowledable staff, awesome rolls Cons: Tiny Hole in the wall sizes = long waits + cramped seating more

don't listen to the 'disappointing' comment 10/8/2008

I've been going to Brothers Sushi for 18 years, and they are hands down the best sushi i've had in America. I've been to Japan and i must say that Brothers is on par in terms of quality of fish and service. The person who made the 'disappointing' comment probably thinks that she is a ""sushi expert"" for loving crunchy tempura rolls, california rolls, and MAYBE EVEN EEL ON TOP, Don't listen to that. If you're a true fan of sushi and enjoy it more than just rolls, then you will love brothers sushi. The sweet shrimp there are incredibly large and fresh (living right up to the moment they're served) and the giant clam sashimi is amazing. The quality of fish like salmon, kampachi, yellowtail, etc rises above all other places and has great flavor.\r The roles they do offer are unique and aren't run of the mill california roll variations. Try the Kerry Roll and the Linda Roll and you won't be disappointed. Don't listen to people who don't know a thing about sushi =/ Pros: fresh sushi, uniqure rolls, good service. In short, everything. more

Always fresh sushi 6/2/2008

This place is as good as everybody says. If you want rolls, just ask the Chefs for the book where they have all the rolls written up. Try ""Rich Taco"" this is a very tasty roll. Also the seared garlic Tuna. The price is not more than any other good sushi place, but the fish is much moore fresh than many sushi restaurants. Highly recommended Pros: Great sushi and very fresh fish. good value Cons: Chefs dont drink sake with guests. more

disappointing 5/29/2008

after i read all the great reviews on this place, my boyfriend and i decided to check it out since we LOVE sushi. we were SO disappointed! there were only a few ""unique"" rolls to choose from and out of the 3 that we got, we only liked 1 of them. the 2 that we didnt like had no flavor to them. it was also on the expensive side. if i had to say one good thing about it- the fish was fresh. when we left the only thing we could think was what a waste of money it was and how we should have stuck to our usual sushi place. we pulled into the nearest coldstone so that we could eat at least ONE tasty thing that night! more

yum yum 8/7/2007

brothers sushi is all about freshness. the fish melts in your mouth and is hand picked by the owner himself who is a sweetheart. you must try the paul roll not only is a burst of flavor, but the presentation is beautiful as well. Pros: fresh fish, creative rolls Cons: parking, pricing is a bit high more

great rolls, fresh fish 7/30/2007

You can really taste the quality of the fish at Brothers. Its a typical small, simple Japenese restaurant, but you notice a difference in the food. I have tried all the rolls and I love Kerrys (with no rice) and the other with cucumber on the outside. The service is quick, especially on week days, but make a reservation on weekends as the secret is getting out! Pros: specialty rolls Cons: c more

Our favorite sushi place 7/22/2007

We moved to Woodland Hills a year ago, and luckily discovered Brothers soon after. It's very unassuming from the outside with it's funny neon sign, but this little sushi joint is true find. As some of the other reviewers noted, it's best to sit at the right end of the bar, as you get to chat with and watch the head sushi chef do his magic. \r \r My favorite is the Hawaiian Poke, although this may come and go on the special menu. Fresh tuna, avacado... really delicious. My only warning is that some of the rolls are so big they are difficult to handle and eat. But everything we've had there has been great. Pros: Fresh and delicious Cons: There is often a wait due to the small space. Come early or be patient. more

Yummy Yummy!!!! 5/28/2007

great fresh fish and service. the owner so sweet, very friendly, kind and always smiling. the rolls are amazing the presentation is extrodinary. it is a bit on the expensive side, but you leave happy so it is totally worth it. you must go!!!! Pros: good service, fresh fresh fish Cons: not enough parking no resverations more

Sushi you dream about 1/29/2007

There is a reason that there are regulars at Brothers all the time, this place hands down has the freshest and most unique sushi you will ever try. If you like sashimi their cuts will not disappoint you. They have big creative rolls are tasty and a must try like the Kerry Roll. Try to sit at the bar all the way on the right side in front of the owner himself who will create you rolls off the top of his head. My wife and I crave this place all the time. I have been eating sushi for 15 years and this is one of the best! more

Our favorite for a long time 1/6/2007

My family LOVES this place, it is pricey so we go on more special occassions but, you will NEVER be disappointed. i have been to Japan many times and brought my Japanese friends to Brothers and everyone agrees that this is as good as it gets especially for a neighborhood place.\r \r it is small and cozy, lots of special reccomendations from the chef to try. if you like unique items and not just California Rolls, this is the place Pros: Unique sushi items and great family atmosphere Cons: very little parking behind the restaurant more

It is a little pricy but worth it. 4/14/2006

We only go there once awhile because it is a little pricy but everytime we left happy. The sushi Chef is really friendly and fun. The only drawback is that if you go on the Fri. nite or weekend the wait would be long, if you want to sit at the bar. more

Very Fresh Sushi.... 4/3/2006

Friendly, fast service..... fresh sushi; Kerry Roll a must! Highly recommended!!! :) Pros: Service, Fresh Sushi, Friendly more

User review by kathycake 3/13/2006

the service is absolutely wonderful-the servers are friendly and very attentive, while the orders come quickly. The orders of sashimi are generous and very fresh. Like others said, order the kerry roll! This will be me and my boyfriend's new sushi place. We had a great dinner for about 40 bucks! However, the desserts can be rather pricey. Two mochi icecream balls cost $3.00. That's $1.50 a ball! Pros: Friendly service, Reasonable prices Cons: Little parking, small, casual ambience more

It's the fish 2/14/2006

Absolutely delicious, not cheap, but a real value, as they put HUGE amounts of fresh fish in every order. The albacore sushi, special rolls (the Kerry, btw is delicious, but too big too eat), everything, really are as much as double to triple the amount of fish you get at other places. more

Best Sushi Ever! 8/15/2005

I've been eating at Brothers since I was a fetus and I've never been disappointed. Everyone I bring also ends up agreeing that it's the best sushi they've ever had, even if they have their own favorite places. The sushi is big and fresh and delicious! more
