Best

It's a toss up between here, Landini's in Little italy, new York Pizza in Carlsbad and Sicilian Thing. All are so good I honestly can't choose which ones I like the best.

Worst

Pizza is good, no doubt but the guy at the counter was arrogant.

Hands down, the best pizza in San Diego. 4/16/2009

I was born in Manhattan and grew up in the Bronx and Long Island. I've been eating pizza forever (excluding 2 years outside Chicago as a child where one cannot find NY style pizza). My wife claims my body is comprised of stacked pies. Matt's guys bake a truly superior pie - better than you'll find in 99.9% of NYC pizzerias, including Ray's. Thin, crisp crust with excellent flavor & texture. Premium tomato sauce & cheeses (yes, there is a major difference between premium ingredients and what you'll find dumped on most pizzas), and properly seasoned ovens. Be sure to eat in. Transporting the pies causes them to lose their crispness. Pros: Authentic NY pies & slices served with NYC attitude. Cons: Parking is always a challenge. No salad. more

Awesome & Authentic NY style pizza slices in SD!! 12/9/2008

Bronx pizza taste great and has done a superior job in capturing the authentic nyc style- in their dining area, service and in their pizza. Great news! They now deliver in designated zip codes. Pros: get a delicious nyc slice in sd more

East Coast Style At Its Best 10/28/2008

Im from Jersey and moved out to SD about a year ago and a friend told me about this place. Let me just say it is the most comparable to the amazing pizza at home back East. It is the best pizza in SD by far! Its funny how one person said they have NY attitudes as well it is true, but hey thats what we're all about. If you want to experience the great food then deal with the attitude! more

Awesome NY Style Thin Crust Pizza 9/23/2008

I have an obsession with thin crust pizza. There are a lot of places in So. Cal. that make thin crust pizza nowadays - but very few make it right - thin AND crispy. Bronx Pizza gets it right. I was there for the first time this weekend while visiting a friend in San Diego (I'm from L.A.). It was so exciting to find my much searched for combo of thin/crispy pizza but I'm sad now that I'll have to travel so far to get my fix.\r \r The review below mine gets it all wrong. The topping combinations were plentiful and delicious. The red sauce was simple but tangy. I also tried the pesto and white (no red sauce - garlicky) slices. The cheese is high quality and fresh. The atmosphere is casual and the service is about what you'd expect to get at a pizza stand in NY. The guys were all very nice to me and I look forward to my next visit back! Pros: Thin and Crispy, Variety of Toppings and Fast Service Cons: No Delivery - hopefully this will change soon more

The most overrated Pizza place I've been to. Rude Service, too. 9/18/2008

You're serious, right? THIS is one of the BEST pizza joints in San Diego? \r \r I JUST got back from this dive. I sampled three pizzas, veggie, mushroom and something I think was the ""Deluxe."" I like thin crust, but I ALSO enjoy a little FLAVOR to go along with it. The cheese was probably plastic, the sauce would take a back seat to Ragu, and I think there MIGHT have actually been some veggies & meat on these slices, but I'm not sure. \r \r The crust was OK, I'll give them that. But I suspect that they have cut costs by buying the lousiest quality cheese, sauce and meats possible, just so we can have something ""Authentic."" Hell, I went into a a pizza dive near the Met in New York last year and it put this ""Bronx"" stuff to absolute shame.\r \r Never again. Save your time & appetite. Try someplace else.\r \r more

Bronx Pizza is best when you buy a whole pizza made fresh. Occasionally the pizzas are overcooked, but for the most part they are pretty consistent. The crust is thin and crispy with a soft middle, the sauce is perfect, and the toppings are fresh. It is definitely authentic...i eat pizza twice a week, and i order from Bronx Pizza twice a month. \r \r i have to disagree with the other ""New Yorkers"" who say that San Diego does not have good NY-style pizza. Sure, maybe they don't speak the lingo and don't have the attitude, but there are several places from Hillcrest to downtown with good East Coast-style pizza. Ciro's, and even Gaslamp pizza offer a good fix for those of us homesick for our homestyle pizza. And you can get tri-state suburban style pizza at Basic Pizza near Petco Park. Much respect.\r \r more

You will dig it!! Cash only , dinner for two $12 bucks!! 5/13/2008

This place is an institution that has spawned others (former employees). Nice thin pizza, red with sauce or the white, no sauce, there are usually six to 10 varieties with an even split between white and red. I like the pizza cause it goes light on the cheese...no mounds of government cheese here! \r if there is a line out the door, not to worry, it moves fast. You select your slice(s) \r (usually 2 slices and a soft drink for $6Bucks) and they are put into the oven. the slices come out nice and crispy hot. I have seen parties bring their own fine wine to have a pizza party in the rear seating. Come on down and enjoy!!!! Best pizza in town. Pros: GREAT pizza served nice and hot Cons: lack of fine dining experience, ha ha! more

This is probably the best pie in town, but the competition is not all that great in SD. Just moved from New York City and this is as close to NYC pie as you'll get. But realize that there is a joint like this on EVERY block in all the five bouroughs in NYC. I knew it wasnt completely authentic because when I asked for ""two slices"", instead of warming up two cheese slices, the guy asked, ""uh...what kind?"" Still good to see that there is a reliable pie in town. PS. Do not order the pizza at the Venetian restaurant.\r \r Pros: this crust Cons: none really...could use some more pizza sauce more
