The People who like it-won't/don't accept negative reviews 8/29/2010

Very Scary. A person writes a negative review on here, and someone has to remark about it like it shouldn't have happened. It happened to us too. Our party tried to park on the back lot for dinner, but they had a chain across it-and wouldn't permit us to park there-even though we had called and said we were coming. They told us the girl that we spoke to on the phone ( who agreed to try to help us get a table when we got there ) "didn't work there anymore"...well she worked there a day before when we called, so she must have left in a big hurry...anyway...the smoke from the outdoor cooking kept getting in our eyes...the wind kept blowing it in our faces...oh, and we paid $10 to park by the way..after we said we were coming the next day and specifically inquired about parking and were told it was free....Of course I completely expect a fan of the place to remark on how "Cool" the place is...well it was not for us-so we cannot write a positive review..we have to tell it like it is more

Best bartender in the city 3/20/2010

Ive been a fan of BOB forever. But, if Dan is not behind the bar, find another bar! The food is wonderful. I hate reading the one bad review posted.I have never seen them charge a parking fee (sure you at the right park lot? )- I have felt, from my observations, that during dinner time, they could benefit with a hospitality person...going to the tables, making sure everyone happy... sharon Pros: diverse crowd - friendly staff - usually, good music Cons: need a hospitality person more

HORRIBLE FIRST IMPRESSION!!! 8/1/2009

This was our first visit to this restaurant. We called ahead to see what the parking situation was and they told us the restaurant has a private parking area for patrons and street parking if that was full. When we got there, there was a $10 charge to park in their lot (and no available street parking due to a ball game). I personally was very excited to get a Muffuletta which is listed on their website on their menu. I'm not big on Cajun food, so this really was the only thing I wanted to get from there. It was my birthday so we had a party of 6 and needed a minute to look at the menu. The waitress came back to our table several times and never mentioned anything that they didn't have. When we tried to order Muffulettas, we were then informed that they didn't have the bread so they couldn't make them. I asked the waitress if we could have one on a different kind of bread, she went to check and came back telling me they now had none of the ingredients needed to make a Muffuletta. We decided to leave since it was my birthday and I didn't like anything else on the menu. Our drinks (that we had ordered as soon as we came in) cost us $18. So we spent a total of $48 to spend a few minutes in their restaurant and didn't even get to eat the food. The owner (who was standing 10 feet away from our table) didn't think it was neccessary to come over and apologize himself....he sent the waitress over with a very condescending "apology" stating that they are a family owned business and they are more busy than usual (there were MANY empty tables around us at lunch time) and therefore couldn't be prepared to have enough food. Not to mention the fact that they have been around for at least a decade because their website has reviews from 1999. They should be prepared for the large baseball crowds as this is a standard in St. Louis. And they should be prepared for familys to come out to eat on Sundays. I thought they were very rude and not willing to even try to please their customers. They said they are "constantly trying to adjust to the new crowds so they can do better for the next time we come in". Well I'm sorry but....I spent $48 and didn't even get to have food!!! No way am I ever stepping foot in this place again! Pros: NO IDEA Cons: BAD SERVICE more

great Cajun theme 2/8/2009

The crawfish bisque was probably the most authentic I've had and though I prefer catfish with a cornmeal (not flour) it was still very good. overall, I think it was very good food. the real test of a cajun restuarant is the gumbo and etoufee, but I will be back to try that. repeat customer! outside seating wasnt that comfortable, but thats part of the charm of eating bayou food. sometimes the smell of the city will get to you, but nothing that can not be overlooked. more

BOB is great 8/20/2008

Was driving downtown and ran across this great bar..i sat at the outside bar located on their patio, they also have a nice inside bar. The bartender sheila was great as was the ice cold beer and the grilled chicken grinder (i will try the cajun/creole next time i visit), the live music at 5.45pm on a thursday was also a plus. I will be going back most likely sometime next week after work. Watch out for the cards game as i hear it can get very crowded before and after. Pros: Good food and beer Cons: The barstools at the outside bar made me feel like i was 4 feet tall sitting at the bar more

ALLWAY FUN AFTER A GAME 11/3/2005

Usually packed after an downtown event, wide range of ages, lots of fun more

Fun bar and very good cajun restaurant. 9/5/2005

Broadway Oyster Bar (BOB) is a wonderful place to have a good time. The best part of the place is the outside patio. With a variety of cajun and blues bands the place is always hopping. Above average cajun food should be checked out early in the evening before the bar business get rolling. Pros: Good times. Cons: Sometimes crowded., Noisy. more

open mic 6/12/2005

I have been able to sit in with the Soulard Blues Band on Monday nights and have also gained a lot of knowledge, respect and friends of the music they offer. Monday nights in the patio are outstanding. Simply sitting underneath the stars and hearing the soothing sands of local talents who come together to display, combine and improve their craft is the most fun way to spend a night just after witnessing another Cardinal victory. Pros: music, crowd , music Cons: space, parking, drink size more

Dance on the tables 3/22/2004

The last Tab Benoit show at the BOB was outstanding, perhaps the best blues experience I've had. Raining outside so the crowd was forced inside where you stepped on the toes of your newest friends. A little dancing on the tables and stools, and Tab Benoit rocked the night away! And the outdoor stage can't be beat during the 10 months it is mostly available-- even during our comfortable St. Louis summers. more

7 out of 10 7/2/2003

A small, but friendly place with good live music and Cajun and Creole food. Also a short walk from Busch Stadium. Pros: Live Music, Good Food, Close to Ballpark Cons: Crowded indoors more

Great Outdoor Deck! 10/27/2002

Although I have never been inside Broadway Oyster Bar, I love going after Cardnial games. The deck is perfect for late spring to early fall weather. The blues bands are always great and the drinks are flowing! more
