Dr. David Bright 1/25/2011

I am a middle aged man and I've seen Dr. Bright for years and am completely satisfied with his care, knowledge and referrals. He is a no-nonsense doc who really cares for his patients. I also am pleased with the efficiency of the administrative side of Durham Internal Medicine. more

Durham Internal Medicine 8/27/2010

I just read these reviews and they were so strangely the opposite of my years of experience with this practice I just had to join citysearch to disagree. It's as if a group of people got together and planned to dis this clinic...I've been going here for many years, staff are just like other clinics, usually quite friendly, some outstanding, never a rude experience, rarely do I wait. The doctors themselves were recommended by other doctors in Durham and have an outstanding reputation. I've used Dr. Bright and think he's great - very smart, very careful. If you're reading this, ignore the other comments. Maybe there's a Durham in another country they're writing about... more

Awful Practice - Find another one! 12/4/2008

This practice was AWFUL. The staff is rude and the physicians (I saw two in the practice), although very nice, are not competent! Look for another practice. more

Very unorganized and not patient friendly 5/15/2008

Where do I even start. The Dr is afraid to make a diagnosis and sends you on your way without an examination. They charge you $1 per minute for perscriptions over the phone, even when they tell you that you are to sick to come into the office, even when you are allergic to the perscription they provided. They are not friendly or helpful at all. You call ahead to have a perscription or form ready and they have no record of it when you get there. The line to register is always out the door because they are so slow. \r Patient beware more

Great Doctor - Terrible administrative support from the office 11/30/2007

This is a tough one because the quality of the doctor I have is the only reason I stay. I have seen comments about Dr. Susan Isbey that I totally agree with, she is thorough, caring and professional.\r \r I would award 5 stars to Dr. Isbey and her staff (Nancy, her nurse is terrific also).\r \r I would give 0 stars to the facility. They have a very inefficient method for making appointments and their staff is often rude. They do not employ email and they often do not answer the phone. You have to leave a message which you are never certain anyone ever receives. If they do receive it someone MAY call you and of course if you are not home you get the message after hours. Then you have to call again ad nauseum. I would send a fax so that you have a documented record of your needs. It's not the doctor's fault, it's the totally out of touch administration. Not a very effective way to run a medical facility. They need to do some housecleaning over there unless their tactics are deliberate to ensure only the really tenacious patients ever get any care. If that's the case I would advise finding a different facility.\r \r 4/7/2010 Update\r When I call the facility these days I am finding that someone answers the phone right away and they are more helpful than in the past. They now connect you right away to your doctor's nurse via an answering machine where you can leave a message for your doctor. This is definitely an improvement. I now have a reasonable expectation that my rare call will be heard the same day by the nurse and I have a great deal of confidence that I will contacted when time allows. \r \r I have been with this medical center for many years. I do not intend to change my doctor for as long as I live in this area. She is the best doctor I have ever had and that goes for her team also. Pros: Fantastic doctor (Dr.Isbey) and nurses (Dr. Isbey's) Cons: Inefficient administrative methods (see update) more

Worst Practice in Durham 8/20/2007

I have also joined this practice after my doctor left his previous practice. It has been a nightmare to get an appointment. To schedule an appointment you must leave your information on a recording and someone will get back to you within 24 hours. If you need to speak to someone immediately for an urgent appointment, you have not option. Not even zero for the operator. I have found those who answer the phone to be rude and unhelpful. They do not have enough staff to handle the volume and the only reason I am going to this practice is to see my doctor. I?m at the point of changing doctors because of the way you are treated at this practice. more

HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE 8/14/2007

My physician of over 10 years recently moved to Durham Internal Medicine, while my doctor is wonderful, ( I followed him to this practice) the staff are horrible to deal with, they are rude and treat patients as if they are a bother. The wait is too long and the staff are SLOW to check people in and even slower to check them out. While I can't comment on the quality of the medicine from other Doc's, I can tell you that if you have a choice to go somewhere else, you should. It is unfortunate enough that medicine today is about money and not people. Some offices are able to mask this horrible truth, but DIMA is not able to mask that at all. I am sadly disappointed in how the staff treat patients. Pros: I know my doc and have followed him to this practice and he is the only reason I stay here. Cons: Office staff are horrible, rude and act as if they are bothered to serve patients more

The Best 5/4/2006

Dr. Isbey has been my physician since 1998, and more recently has treated my husband and my daughters. Our experience has been only positive. Dr. Isbey's knowledge of her patients is nothing short of remarkable. In my nearly 52 years, I have never had a physician who communicated so effectively, taking the necessary time to insure questions are thoroughly and respectfully answered. She is patient and kind. Our family is indeed fortunate to be the recipients of her extraordinary care. more

State of the Art 5/1/2006

The previous review was negative, and so inaccurate! Dr. Isbey is thorough, dedicated, and up to date on medical information. She's the best physician I've ever known, and I come from a family of physicians! She solicits questions and answers them thoughtfully and thoroughly. She's very professional and simultaneously compassionate. She tries to stay on schedule, but I find I don't often get seen on time. However, this is probably due to her taking the time that's necessary with each patient (including me)--I've never felt rushed during an appointment. Pros: Up to date Knowledge, Thorough, Compassionate Cons: Lab delays long more

Does not respect patients 11/13/2005

Talks down to her patients...shows no compassion...rude...interrupts...does't want patient ro ask questions more
