Quick, reliable, and great value 4/21/2010

I dropped my lawnmower off for service on a Friday and had it back the following Tuesday. It's running like a charm and they even salvaged and sharpened the blade which I was sure would need to be replaced. \r \r They also did such a nice job cleaning it up I almost didn't think it was mine - and I thought I'd been keeping it pretty clean! \r \r Love to support these mom & pop businesses - especially when the mom & pop are so nice! Pros: Friendly, helpful, knowledgeable, reasonable rates more

Lawn & Garden Tool Sharpening & Repair 3/8/2010

Worth the price to keep quality tools doing what you want them to do. Pros: Up front, no nonsense pricing/advice more

The only place north of the ship canal for service 7/9/2009

I've always gotten great service and recommended the place to many. I started sharpening my own blades to save money. So I haven't been in for a year. Reading these reviews I miss this little shop even more. (Love the hard root beer candy, so does the Larry.) I've been in line while Claudia tries to help people on the phone. Why do customers call and waste a shops time to diagnose a problem over the phone? I'm happy that customer went to the other place. Hope she got good service from the p*t head. Bad hire! When you use the place on Aurora get ready to wait weeks for equipment to be fixed. I love how they stack mowers three high. And move them outside daily. more

Benefits of ownership 5/4/2009

On days when I don't feel like being snippy and boorish, my choice of lawnmower repair is Brewer. I like a business that is willing to fire a customer. This alone is reason enough to patronize a mom and pop business - they have no boss to fire them for refusing to kowtow to an unreasonable customer.\r \r If you need a doormat for a repairman, take your rusty, old bike to Aaron in West Seattle - he'll hand you a hanky at the door.\r \r Way to go, Claudia and Larry! Pros: Reasonable rates, honest service Cons: Can't be snippy with them more

right on! 10/26/2008

I like these guys, they are straight forward honest. \r I have owned a push mower for my house for 15 years and always get it sharpened there. The last time I took it in I was dissapointed to learn it was warn out and beyond repair but at least they had a new one available for a reasonable price. And took the time to explain to me what all was wrong with my old one. Basically all caused from leaving it out in the weather year in and year out.\r \r more

Best Lawnmower & Sharpening Shop 9/23/2008

I will have to dispute the crabby review that this ""Mom & Pop"" shop got... Anyone that has ever been to Brewer's knows they will be greated at the door by Benny the Beagle, if he wakes up... They will be offered a piece of home smoked salmon that Claudia or Larry caught in Alaska fishing. These hard working folks work long days when most sensible people would have already retired and they offer their services at a more than reasonable price. And if they turned down work that they cannot do that someone else has monkey'ed around with, so be it. People and businesses have the right to refuse service. You have the right to go somewhere else. But for the 5,000 satisfied Brewer's customer's, and yes, they have thousands of satisfied customers, Claudia and Larry go the extra mile. They stay late, come in early, work on Saturdays and Sundays. Ask yourself if you would want your parents to work this hard and perhaps you would rethink your question. If it costs $200.00 in labor to fix a $50.00 item, is it worth it? Even if the customer wants you to do it? Then the customer goes and tells everyone how you ripped them off by charging them $200.00... Or what if you tell them it cost $200.00 in labor, then the customer decides after you did the work they don't want to pick it up? hmmmm... Keep up the Great Work Claudia and Larry! and you make the best smoked salmon in town! more

Atrocious customer service & flat out refused my business. Unbelievable. 7/23/2008

i was sooo apalled by the level of disrepect in tone & demeanor on the phone by these people that I had to write a review. I called and told them the problems with my lawnmower after having my father-in -law look at it & him telling me what was wrong with it. they responded rudely with, ""we don't work on lawnmowers worked on by other people, because it takes too long."" I replied, ""you're gonna flat out refuse to service my lawnmower?!? I've never heard of a business that refuses to give service."" she replied, ""well, you have now"". the tone in this lady's voice was so incredibly rude, it was unbelievable. needless to say I will be telling EVERYONE i know how rude & inconsiderate I was treated. who refuses business?!? if her contention is that they don't know what happened to it prior to coming to the shop, why would that matter?!? i WAS willing to pay whatever it took, within reason, to have it fixed. if it took longer, that's just more business for them. who refuses that kind of EASY money?!?!?!?\r \r this place is an absolute joke. \r \r needless to say, I'll be taking my lawnmower to Aurora Mowers, where I told them the EXACT SAME STORY. Guess what?!? they were polite & WANTED my business & expressed appreciation for me even calling them. \r \r BOTTOM LINE: AVOID BREWER LAWN MOWER & REPAIR SERVICE!!!!!!!!!!!\r \r Pros: NOTHING POSITIVE WHATSOEVER! Cons: ATROCIOUS CUSTOMER SERVICE! more
