I was very disappointed in the crabcakes considering that the City Paper critic loved the ""domestic"" crab meat. The meat was far from domestic. In fact, the crab meat was obviously the asian variety also known as Portunus pelagicus. For those of you who may be fooled by this inferior substitution to our delicious crab (Callinectes sapidus) look for skin at the ""knuckle"" of the lump. The asian variety of crab is not as sweet, not as fresh and has a mild fishy taste. I also tried the cream of crab which also had the same asian crab meat. The soup was on the salty side as well as the stuffed shrimp we purchased. I don't understand why domestic crab meat is not being used considering that the seafood case was full of it. I'll make my own crabcakes next time! more

Editorial review from Citysearch 6/24/2012

What a rip-off!!! I had a $25 Restaurant.com certificate where I had to purchase $35 AND dine in. This place is no more than a fresh seafood counter with some tables. There wasn't a clean table in the place, the floor was dirty, and it smelled so fishy, it made your nose burn. We ordered 2 crab cake entrees with fries and cole slaw, a bowl of crab soup and a bowl of cream of crab soup. We wanted the crab dip, but they were out. The crab cakes were good, but very little seasoning. Both soups were terrible. The Maryland crab tasted like a bowl of pepper soup. The crab meat was shreadded and there wasn't any flavor of crab, just hot pepper. The cream of crab had some lumps of crab but there again, tasted more like pepper soup and was very thin. Our biggest complaint was the service. The guy who took our order at the counter came out of the back when we walked in, but we had to decide what we wanted to eat. He went back into the back and it took yelling and ringing their bell for about 5 minutes to get him to come back out front. He had a really lousy attitude and no personality. After we ordered and went to pay, he added 18% gratuity to our charge. I realize the certificate says 18% would be added on, but there was no service. Lots of full serve, caring about waiting on their customers restaurants have that on their certificate, but most of them don't apply it to the check, and we usually tip more than the 18%. The only service we received was our food carried out to our table. They do the same thing at McDonald's if you have to wait and don't charge for a tip. He could have just as easily waived this 18% when we objected, but he was a real jerk!! For our 18%, we had our food carried out of the back and put on the table. We had to get our own pre-packaged plasticware with one salt and pepper packet in each, I picked up extra napkins, and we ended up drinking our soda out of the bottle because we have no idea how long the two dirty styrofoam cups had been sitting on the table by the plasticware basket. It seems their main business is carry-out and I really understand why. We feel totally ripped-off by the lack of service, the so-so food, the dirty dining area, and the guys attitude through the whole process. Even the cole slaw was already pre-packaged in a plastic container instead of in a dish. I would not recommend to ANYONE they eat at this place. Our total for two crab cakes, 2 bowls of soup, 2 bottles of Pepsi, and the 18% gratuity before the $25 certiciate was over $46!!! We have used many Restaurant.com certificates and gladly paid more than the posted 18% gratuity, but I feel we deserve our 18% gratuity back since there was no service involved. This is just a way for this fish house (I won't even call it a restaurant) makes money on Restaurant.com customers. more

Excellent Crab Cakes! 9/4/2009

I've been disappointed with crab cakes at restaurants lately; too much filler, tasteless meat... However, the crab cake I got at breezy point was out of this world. It was a lump of golden brown deliciousness. Highly recommended! Pros: crabcakes, parking Cons: wish you could eat there more

great food, revamped menu with awesome results 8/29/2009

You pick either a fish, scallops, or shrimp and choose a sauce to have them prepare it with and how you want the food prepared. It's that simple and what awesome results my family had. My son had a jumbo lump crab cake and it was the best we have ever had. Myself ordered a broiled orange roughy sandwhich with lemon butter dill sauce and all I can say is WOW. It was absolutely delicious. My wife had the salmon sandwhich sauteed with ginger teriyaki sauce. All the food is delicious now and was brought out hot and timely. We have been going there for crabs for years and have always been bored with the menu but now with this new menu we have no problem eating dinner or buying crabs. It is our new place to go. I recommend anyone to go there. And as for eating i recommend any fish with any sauce, dont get the fish fried. Believe me any way other than fry is the way to go. You wont ever leave a carryout place feeling more satisfied then i do when i go to this place. Pros: the great food and the nice chef Cons: annoying old lady more

Delicious Seafood Fast 8/28/2009

Every dish I've had from Breezy Point has been delicious... If you get a crab cake, I'd recommend getting it fried, not broiled because, anything fried tastes better! The crabs are big all year round. I've only had a couple of the fish dishes, but they have all kinds of sauces and marinades to choose from. The lemon pepper is killer. Oh, and their french fries are awesome. Enjoy! Pros: Amazingly delicious crab cakes and great crabs Cons: None that I've experienced more

Best Crabs We Have Ever Had 8/28/2009

Our church has crab feasts every year and this year we decided to try Breezy Point. We ordered 25 bushels of thier ""medium"" crabs, but there was nothing medium about them. The majority of our bushels were large and there were even some crabs over 61/2 inches. The seasoning was perfect and everyone was content. We'll be using Breezy Point for our next crab feast for sure! Pros: Exellent product and customer service Cons: More parking would be nice. Its a zoo on the weekends! more

Love It 8/28/2009

When ever I'm in the area I stop by this place. Although I love their crabs, there is no other place you can get a seared salmon sandwich with ginger teriyaki without tipping a waitress. Pros: Freshness of Seafood, Wont break the bank. Cons: Its kinda far away form me. more

bad attitude; crabs were reheated and dried out 8/17/2009

Our crabs from Breezy Point were totally dried out and we were disappointed. We called the store to say that it seemed liked they had been re-heated and we were told by the manager that that yes, they had been, and if you want crabs that haven't been reheated, that you have to request that specifically. We thought this was ridiculous. Later the owner called us and we repeated our complaint. He insisted that they do no reheat crabs, but when he asked the manager (his son, it turns out!) he found out that yes, this was what we were told. They refused to do right by us. We did not get what we paid for and their attitude was basically ""Tough sh*t"". Avoid this place like the plague!!! Cons: awful customer service; disappointing crabs more

False Advertising 12/31/2008

We reserved lobsters for New Years Eve. I stopped in to pick them up and the sign on the lobster tank said $2.99 lb. Right or wrong, that's what the sign said. Then they charged me $12.99lb. So I questioned the sign. They said it was wrong. Dosen't matter, the customer is always right, RIGHT! They wouldn't even meet me half way on the price because they claimed they would loose money. Not my fault they have the wrong amount on the sign. Everyone behind the counter was silent because they new that I was in the right to get the price shown on the sign attached to the tank. The guy thought I was joking. NOT. That's just bad Public Relations and FALSE ADVERTISING. Whether it makes a difference or not, I will never get anything from there again and I will definitly not recommend them to anyone. Pros: Parking was good Cons: False Advertising more
