Quite a place! A smallish venue, but the size of the menu packs a wallop. Stylish but a little old-school is how I describe Bread and Porridge. I've eaten here more than a few...

after reading mostly positive reviews about this place, i was disappointed to find myself not very much...

the pancakes and omelettes are great. i love how fresh the ingredients are. the wait wasn't bad at all on a saturday afternoon. plus the waiting area next door is relaxing with comfy couches. service was great too. Pros: food, price more

Call ahead to put your name down! 12/1/2004

This is a great breakfast restaurant. Food is just like home cooking and everything tastes delicious. However, the wait to be seated is verging on ridiculous. On a weekend, expect to wait about 30mins to an hour. The owner, who is the host as well, is sort of rude and seems to pick and chose who he wants to seat and when...but, the food makes it all worth it. more

Ample lunch menu, breakfast is the main draw. My favorites include the smoked flavored sausage and a variety of egg dishes. The dinning area... more

One of my favorite breakfast places! Great food, prompt service. Love the OJ and french toast. One of the ways you can tell the management is good (owner Mark is really nice!) is that you see the same staff there everytime you go. Weekdays aren't too crowded...expect to wait a while on weekends if you arrive past 9am...but you can make reservations. Pros: Great food, Good Service, Prompt food more

Breakfast 8/6/2003

They weren't kidding with the sign outside that states"" Best Breakfast in LA"". The food is fabulous. This quaint hole-in-the-wall is tiny with a rustic atmosphere. Seating is limited, but they take reservations for parties of 6 or more. The prices are a bit high, but its definitely worth it. The coffee is served in a coffee press for either 2 or 4 cups, no refills. One of my favorite breakfast places. Pros: Food, Atmosphere, Service Cons: Parking, Prices, No Refills on Coffee more

I lOve Breakfast Foods 2/26/2003

I've been to many breakfast places, and this place is one of the best. There was a long wait, but as I like to state, if there's a wait, it's a good place. The food was good; I had the breakfast quesadilla. That was great! and their coffee is one of the best. It's a small but cozy breakfast house. *I also heard Julia Roberts was spotted eating here* more

Delicious? Yes! Crowded? Yes Pricey? Yes 9/10/2002

Bread & Porridge offers the most consistent, high quality, breakfast that I know of in L.A., and I really love going out for breakfast, so I've tried lots of places. But, I have to concede that it's prices are quite high, and it is always very crowded. If you can wait and you don't mind paying more for fantastic quality, then you should try this restaurant. The breakfast quesadillas are wonderful. The coffee is wonderful. The bacon is wonderful. It's all top-notch and fabulously fresh. The waitstaff is very nice, too! Pros: Fresh, Delicious, Cute Cons: Crowded, Pricey, Noisy more

well worth the wait! 8/15/2002

You might wait a while for a table in this cozy restaurant, but once you order, the food comes promptly. And it's well worth the wait- my fav is the breakfast quesadilla! Their coffee is fantastic too. Pros: can accomodate groups Cons: parking can be hard, can have a long wait more

Sunday Morning Habit! 8/5/2002

This is hands down the best breakfast place on the Westside....Creative, fresh, healthy and all of the ""comfort"" foods one looks for in breakfast food such as light fluffy pancakes, omelettes etc. You might have to wait, but it's well worth it. Especially good is the shepherd's omelette with goat cheese. A must try if you are on the west side for breakfast... more

Breakfast worth it's weight in oats! 7/22/2002

If you can stand a bit of a wait (a long one on Sunday morning) the breakfast is worth it! This little cafe has the feeling of a little British breakfast nook, with food that brings comfort and happiness to your tummy. A first time try would be good on a weekday morning. So you can enjoy your breakfast without the stream of Sunday brunchers. Pros: Great Food, Good Price Cons: A bit crowded, Very little seating more
