Quite a place! A smallish venue, but the size of the menu packs a wallop. Stylish but a little old-school is how I describe Bread and Porridge. I've eaten here more than a few...

after reading mostly positive reviews about this place, i was disappointed to find myself not very much...

great for Sunday brunch 9/12/2006

I love the omlettes here, but I agree they can be a little overpriced for what they are. Ambience and service is great, as are the very comfy booths! more

Best brunch on the westside 4/24/2006

Wonderful atmosphere - the plush leather couches in the waiting room are very cozy and stylish. The waitstaff is prompt, friendly, and professional. The food - especially the sausages - is superb. more

plan ahead and be happy!! 2/3/2006

wow. home made food brought to the tables by professional waiters. a BIT of a wait (wink) but, since you can order drinks and sack out on what has to be the comfiest couches in LA while you wait, it's worth it. my advice is to come at off hours, or weekdays, no problem and same great food!! more

Not Worth the Wait 12/17/2005

The $11 Omelets Don't Even Come With Toast 11/28/2005

This place is ridiculous. Enough people have talked about the wait for a table, so let's get right to what happens when you actually sit down. It took 10 minutes for a waiter to approach our table, and when he did, he couldn't have seemed less interested in waiting on us. The prices are outrageous, any way you look at it. A bowl of fresh berries was $7.95. With tax and tip, that is TEN DOLLARS for a bowl of berries. Are you kidding me? And worse, the omelets, which average about $11, don't even come with toast. They come with potatoes, but toast is a side dish you have to order separately. I can not believe the nerve of this place. Whether or not the food is good is beside the point when you are being so shamelessly ripped off. Pros: none Cons: overpriced, bad service, noisy more

Perfect mid-week breakfast joint 8/27/2005

I have been eating at Bread and Porridge for over 4 years now. This place has perfect breakfast food and a good wait staff. The wait on the weekend is worth it but if you can come during the week I would suggest that. more

Delicious food, spotty service 6/19/2005

I'm willing to cut the service (and the attitude) a little slack, because we went on Father's Day. Still, we waited for quite a while to order even after we were seated. However, the food was fantastic. The pecan pancakes were perfect, and the sausages were excellent. (We each ordered a different kind to share; chicken-apple was my personal favorite, but the maple and the cilantro were also good.) They take reservations for breakfast and dinner, so I'd go back--but I'd call ahead first. Pros: Food Cons: Service, Long Wait more

Sunday brunch 3/8/2005

Definitely a great place to go for Sunday brunch. Always pretty crowded, but the wait isn't too bad. Omelettes are fluffy - great ingredients. Service is generally fast and friendly. I believe they're expanding the restaurant which is always a good sign more
