Awesome food, period; best portion-to-quality-to-price ratio in the area 12/15/2007

First of all, I don't get where this website rates the meal price $$- $21-30. You are going to pay $21-$30 to feed a family of 4 (3 if your family members are big eaters).\r \r That said, it's worth every penny. You get a LOT of QUALITY food at a REASONABLE price. A single taco here is equal to about getting 1-and-a-half fake, fatty tacos at Taco Hell (Bell). A single burrito is a meal. It is a good size (and I am a big eater).\r \r And speaking of tacos and burritos, that is where it is at. My favorite dish is the gulf shrimp tacos. You get BIG FAT SHRIMP in the taco (with healthy portions of cabbage and cheese)...not some wussy microscopic shrimp that will get caught between your teeth. And the chipotle sauce just brings a satisfying flavor to the taco. \r \r As mentioned before, a burrito is a meal. Each burrito has the perfect blend of flavor and fresh food in each bite. A problem with many burritos at many mexican places is they load up on the beans and the beans overpower the taste of the burrito- in fact, I just ate a burrito in Portland, OR on a business trip that was just this. Not at Bazos. In each bite you get the perfect blend of real succulent meat, savory sauces and spices, and all the mexican vegetable fixings. My favorite is the shredded beef burrito, but the fish burrito was surprisingly good. Most fish burritos are nasty and tartar-sauce filled where your stomach is sick. Not at Bazos- I believe it was that chipotle sauce they have that was the trick. \r \r I have also had the mexican pizza and quesadilla. Both great...you really cannot go wrong with any menu item there.\r \r Even the owner is friendly if you get the chance to speak with him.\r \r Bazos man...your stomach will thank you for it. Pros: Your stomach will be happy Cons: It's location is not perfect to catch your eye when driving more

Eat fresh Mex for a change 9/8/2007

Great tasting, fresh mexican food, if you are wary about eating right. \r Although I love mexican food, I am normally reluctant to eat mexican frequently, because most places make it too greasy and use a lot of pre-made/canned ingredients. Bazos has awesome tasting food, which is as fresh as it can be.\r The service has always been great for a corner restaurant that most people miss out because of its location. Strongly recommened checking out this place if you like good mexican food. Pros: Fresh food, great taste, reasonable more

Awesome Mexican Food 9/8/2007

I had my best Mexican food in Bazos. Bazos is clean, fresh and refreshingly good, qualities that you seldom find in a Mexican restaurant. They say they make all their food upon order and they mean it. You will not be disappointed with the experience. Pros: Food & Service more

Best Mexican Grill!!! 1/18/2007

Let me preface this by saying I've spent a lot of time on the West Coast and am quite picky when it comes to restaurants. When a friend told me that the best fish tacos he'd ever eaten were in Louisville, Kentucky I just laughed. But after eating at Bazo's, I'd have to agree - their fish tacos put Wahoos, Fin's, and Rubio's to shame. I don't know how they do it, but somehow this little independent restaurant in the middle of Kentucky is turning out some of the best baja-style Mexican food around. \r \r The restaurant can be hard to find if you're not familiar with the area (it's not on a main road), but it's definitely worth checking out. The menu is the standard fare of burritos, tacos, quesadillas, nachos, etc. but what sets Bazo's apart from the other chains is that they actually do make everything fresh onsite, including their salsas and guacamole. Their prices are reasonable ($4-$6 for most items) and the portions are pretty big. Their specialties are the fish and shrimp tacos, but everything I've tried there is great. They've got a decent number of vegetarian options, but the only one I've tried is their cream of black bean soup - it's to die for! They do have beer, but no margaritas or other alcoholic beverages. The service is adequate (never had a problem) and the place is always clean. It can get busy during lunch, but I've never had to wait more than 5 minutes. \r \r Overall, Bazo's is one of the best Mexican grills I've ever come across. The only way it could be any better was if they served margaritas. Pros: Fresh, Tasty Food at a Reasonable Price Cons: Only one location. No margaritas. more
