Best Grilled Meat Service in Town! Great Ambience! Worth it all! 3/28/2008

I love Brasa because of its great food, especially the meat service, the ambience and the attentiveness of the staff. Im so glad that Raleigh now have a restaurant like Brasa. It makes you feel like coming home after a long time and and being showered with food and attention. I love their signature picana, filet mignon wrapped in bacon, garlic sirloin, roasted pineapple and fried bananas! It is so worth it all. Its a real treat to go to Brasa. Pros: Great food, excellent architecture, great ambience, great customer service! Cons: Makes me eat too much! more

Love it!! 3/16/2008

I heard from many friends about how I should go to Brasa because they enjoyed it, so I figured that I would go finally to see for myself. My friends were right. It was a great experience. The meat comes around to the table and you get a card with a green side and red side for when you want meat and when you need a break or done. My husband loves the place. Our server was really nice too. The food itself was good. I like my meat well done and so they let me request my meat well done and my server made sure it came to me first since it was a special request and then the meat runner went to other tables...so you can get meat made how you like it which was nice. I will be returning to Brasa next time with friends and family because it was great environment and when we are done with dinner we can sit next to fireplace and listen to the live music that they have in the lounge. Now I have to tell my other friends about this place!! more

Beware of Waiters Carrying Bloody Skewers of Meat! 3/4/2008

We went to Brasa Steakhouse with a group, so the restaurant was picked by someone else...normally we would not patronize a steakhouse. I am vegetarian, and frankly nobody needs to eat that much at one meal! The atmosphere is very nice, and you can go dressy or casual which is a plus. The prices are sky high, we had the Salad/Appetizer Bar for $25 each. They give you a coaster to let the waiters know you want them to stop at your table side with the big skewers of meat. I didn't have a coaster but they wouldn't leave me alone. And I guess that's how my husband came home with steak juice poured down the back of his shirt. Pros: large dining area Cons: waiters walking around spilling meat juice down customers backs more

Terrible Example of a Churrascaria 2/22/2008

I have been to many brazilian steakhouses and I once managed one. This is by far the worst churrascaria I have ever been to. The gaucho's or meat runners are not brazilian and know nothing about cooking the meats. The salad bar was terrible and had strange things like meatballs. Who comes to a steakhouse and pays for steak and eats meatballs. Clearly they are clueless as they do not know in a churrascaria white rice is traditional not yellow rice. I heard the owner is from India or something and this must explain why they don't know what they are doing. If you would like to try a good traditional churrascaria try Chamas in downtown durham at the brightleaf square shopping center. It is owned by two brazilian ladies and most of the people who work there are from brazil. The food is very authentic and the head chef for the meats is from Rio Grande do Sul in south brazil where churrascaria's originated. Avoid Brasa and try a real brazilian steakhouse. If you live in another city Fogo de Chao and Texas de Brazil are reputable chains that are always very good as well. The place is decorated very well if you can stomach the food Pros: nicely decorated Cons: food and it is not authentic more

Worth trying.. Once 1/9/2008

I was very excited to try this restaurant, as I had never been to a Brazilian steakhouse. The ambience was gorgeous, it was very beautiful and romantic. I took my boyfriend there for his birthday last week, on a Wednesday night at about 5:30, so the place was pretty empty except for the bar (they had martinis on special). My martini was pretty bad (much too strong on the liquor and not mixed well) , but his Brazilian sugar cane cocktail was pretty good, very limey. I was very unimpressed with the cold buffet choices, I could not have made a meal off of this food. It was overall very light and bland. Some of the meat was very good, but it really dependent on the cut the server gave you. I do recommend the house picanya (when they give you a good piece), the grilled pineapple, the chicken wrapped in bacon and the filet, they were all quite good. Definitely come hungry as you will eat more than you notice. All in all, it was quite good but I felt overpriced. We each had the meal with meat and one drink apiece, and the tab (with tip) was about $100. Pros: Overall good meats, Gorgeous Ambience, Unlimited Food, Fabulous Service Cons: Price, Some of the cuts were not very good more

Come hungry . . . 12/31/2007

I visited Brasa my first night in Raleigh. I had never eaten at a Brazilian-style steakhouse before, but had heard about the concept and thought that it might be fun. The atmosphere was really cool, the crowd seemed trendy, and the food was copious and delicious! The service was outstanding -- to the valet parking service to our very attentive waiter. Some advice -- come hungry! This meal amounts to A LOT of food and if you select the meat option, it's easy to fill up fast. We were there for a couple of hours, so we paced ourselves, but I can imagine that it's easy to overdo it. The only negative comment I have is that our waiter wasn't terribly knowledgeable about wine. He brought enlisted the help of another waiter he thought would be more helpful, but she didn't seem to know very much either. That said, Brasa's wine list is extensive and can accommodate most budgets (you just need to know what you like in advance). I recommend Brasa's for a small group outing -- it's a lot of fun sampling all of the different foods! Pros: Great food, service, and atmosphere Cons: Lack of a sommelier, located in a busy shopping area more

Did not meet minimal expectations 11/19/2007

I tried Brasa after first viewing their site, and I must saw the resturants decor looked impressive, the price was a little steep, but what I expect to pay for fine dining, so I decided to give it a Shot on a cold Saturday, and I was disappointed. The place looked just as beautiful as online, the service was good, but I did not find anything impressive about the food. I only enjoyed my salad. The hot and cold bar was even more disappointing than the meat, I thought how can you get this wrong. I think they are trying to get over with portraying themselves as fine dining, when they are nothing more than 1st rate ametuars. Nothing was freshly prepared on the bars. Pros: Ambience, Cons: Disgusting meats, unappealing hot and cold bar more

Great Place! 6/18/2007

I went to this restaurant on a Friday night and was highly impressed. There was no wait and we were seated immediately. I had never been here before and was hesitant about what to expect. The food was amazing and the service was excellant. I would recommend this place to anyone who loves steak and a nice atmosphere. Pros: ambience more

Bad taste 6/4/2007

My family and I went to Brasa to enjoy the Brazilian food, but we all had an unpleasant dinner. The meat was uncooked, unsalted and not warm. Waited long time to be served... My husband even asked the manager to bring a meat well done, since all the meats were raw and he brought a piece of meat that didn't look fresh. Pros: Good ambience, music and beautiful restaurant. Cons: The food and the price. more

Brasa, Brasa, I love this place! 6/3/2007

On a scale of one to ten I give Brasa an eleven. This place is great. A couple of weeks ago we went with large group of people and we could not have a chose a better place. The restaurant serves different cuts of meat at the table and then they also offer a huge hot and cold appetizer bar. All of this is included in your meal for everyone. There was something for everyone in the group. I don't know another place in town where you can get this much great food. I recommend this restuartand to anyone wanting to try something different. This place is great for large groups as well as if you're looking for a romantic evening out. Give it a try, Brasa is awesome! Pros: Lots of Food, Great Service Cons: n/a more

What a delight and great dinner at Brasa 6/3/2007

Last night my husband and I went to Brasa to find out what all the hype was about. We've been to a Brazilian restaurant before in another city so we were excited to find out that there was a Brazilian Steakhouse in Raleigh. The restaurant is beautiful! They have a grande piano and live music which created a very classy atmosphere. We made reservations but wanted to have a glass of wine at the bar first. The wine list was exquisite and the bartenders were very educated about the different wines. We we were ready to have dinner our table was ready and waiting for us. The staff at Brasa was very freindly and helpful. Brasa has a huge salad bar with tons of appetizers to choose from. I don't know how anyone could go hungry at this place. Also there is the hot bar with plenty of food you can find there like the tradtional fried bananas, black beans and yellow rice. This meal is fit for a King or Queen and at this point we hadn't even got to the main course yet. After we were done filling up on this we were ready to start the rodizio meat service. This is when the servers bring the large selection of meats to your table. There is everything from filet, top sirlion and bottom, chichen wrapped in bacon, pork loin, lamb just to name a few. Because at this place you can eat all you want I couldn't get enough. Don't let me forget my favorite cut of meat was the house specialty it's called picanha which is a very flavorful cut and the server told be it was similar to prime rib but it was a cut that is specially ordered for the restaurant. By this time I was so full but the servers brought dessert and I couldn't resist. I took most of it home because I was so full but the dessert were amazing. The servers told be that are made fresh everyday. I had the Banana Brule and my husband has Creme de Papaya. Which were great. For the food, atmosphere and the money there is no place better in town and we will be back often. Thanks Brasa for bringing this wonderful restaurant to town ! Pros: Everything, the food, the staff, the music, Everything! Cons: Absoluty None, the even have Valet for Parking more

Worst Brazilian Steakhouse, what a shame for Brazil.... 6/2/2007

We just got home from this steakhouse. We are Brazilians and we are used to eat at Brazilian Steakhouses, and we've never seen anything so bad like that. I won't talk about the money because we know that Brazilian Steakhouses are expensive in US but it usually worths the money. But at Brasa we had the worst experience. First: All the meats were cold as an iceberg, all very raw and unsalty. Ans the variety wasn't that good. The Brazilian sausage was TOO greasy and cold... Well... the salad bar was not attractive and also tasteless. The hot food wasn't a typical Brazilian food... even the black beans (feijoada) didn't taste as feijoada at all. Pros: Atmosphere Cons: Food and overall experience. more

Braza Steakhouse Good prepackaged Cheesecake Bad Steak 5/27/2007

Went out Saturday night out with the Wife, Thought we'd see what the experience was about. Unfortunately the experience was lacking. Got the gold package (buffet and meat). Tried the buffet it was unique; don?t see heart of palm on a buffet everyday. The Fried bananas was good but not great. Had fried mushrooms not bad cheaper and better at the local bar though. Descent selection of seafood Mussel, Oysters, and Prawn no real thought into the preparation boring. Moved onto the meat service very disappointing Alligator worth a try once but not twice. The Lamb dry overdone bland taste, the Beef products would have been better with a gallon of A1 sauce. Pork Ribs terrible Pork Sausage very bad fatty gristle funny taste. All the meat had a similar strange flavor. Service was Good initial waiter attentive but not annoying, kids with the skewers of meat hard to get hold of they kept finishing at the table ahead of us and not returning to our table. Wife waited 30 mins for mediocre Chicken. We opted for the dessert to get the bad taste of meat out of our mouths. It was the best part of dinner cheesecake was sweet but not heavy the strawberry reduction was nice it enhanced the cheesecake. Atmosphere nice Jazz Music soothing. If they would offer some good flavored meat or offer buckets no troughs of Steak sauce, and reduce the price it might be worth a return trip. But I'm not holding my breath. more

If you like expensive buffets, this is your place 5/18/2007

I always feel a little ripped off with buffets because I am not a big eater and usually only wind up making one trip, two at the most. I ate here once, not knowing what it was and was surprised to find that I'd be paying $20 or so just for a buffet and this was without the meat service. From what I remember the buffet food was OK, there were definitely some unique selections, but there was not enough there that I really liked enough to keep going back for more. I did not pay for the meat but I saw it being brought around on those skewers and it didn't really look like anything special to me. To get the most out of this restaurant, you'd have to come here really hungry, bring some friends, and be prepared to spend a few hours tasting everything to get your money's worth. Pros: you might try some dishes you will not see elsewhere, lunch buffet looks like the best value Cons: very expensive for what it is more

My New Favorite Restaurant! 4/19/2007

Brasa is definitely my new favorite restaurant and it's right in the heart of Brier Creek. This is definitely a restaurant you have to experience and know what your getting into before you go. The salad and appetizer bar is absolutely exquisite and I don't think I could get enough of those Fried Bananas. And from the meats, I even tried Alligator for the first time. If I wanted something cooked a little more or less the meat runners were more than happy to bring out a fresh skewer of whichever selection I asked. I also recommend there Sunday brunch, definitely the best omelets in town, I think it's only 18$ a person and you get the full salad and appetizer bar, chicken, fillet, garlic beef, sausage, ham, and prime rib. Also, Wednesday through Saturday when they have jazz and piano if your interested in that kind of thing. Pros: staff, salad bar, atmosphere, best service more

Don't believe the hype..this place is terrible. 4/6/2007

I went to this restaurant for my birthday. My aunt took me and I was excited to try this hyped up Brazilian ""steak house"". Mind you my birthday was in September, but still my dining experience (food quality) was horrible. I will give the following pro's: The place is magnificent when it comes to design. They truely spent a pretty penny for the layout and decore. I also enjoyed the level of service. The server was so knowledged about the endless cold bar and hot bar selections and specials. You may ask yourself why I give this restaurant such a horrible rating with all these sought after pro's they possess. The answer is simple: THE FOOD WAS HORRIBLE! Pros: Service, Server knowledge, atmosphere, design Cons: FOOD OH MY GOD HOW DO YOU PEOPLE LIKE THIS PLACE?! more

Great 3/27/2007

I ate at Brasa for the first time yesterday evening and was really satisfied with the meal. The price is high but so is the quality. The buffet items were delicious and the meats were great. For those of you chapped about the service, one of the meat servers told us that the management recently cleaned house - so maybe it would be worth another shot. We were seated right on time and our waiter was fantastic. Pros: Literally all you can eat, Service, Free valet parking Cons: Price is high more

Pretty Good 2/21/2007

I was a bit puzzled by such a wide range of reviews, so last Monday I took a large group from work there for lunch. It was the first time for all of us. Only 4 meats are served at lunch: chicken, sausage, filet mignon, and sirloin. They were all excellent. Keep these 2 things in mind: 1) on a long skewer, there usually will be a range of ""doneness"" among the chunks of meat, and 2) the servers are happy to bring you exactly what you want. So if you say ""Please bring me some of that filet that is much more red next time"", they will be happy to oblige. The salad and food bars are pretty good, though I would like to have more vegetable choices. The only disappointment though was the desserts. I tried 4 of them, and every single one was mediocre at best. Overall, Brasa provides a nice and comfortable atmosphere and very good food, but the desserts do not meet the expectations that would typically go along with a restaurant of this caliber, location, and price level. Pros: Excellent meats and very good food and salad bars. Cons: Desserts. more

Bravo Brasa 2/19/2007

My husband & I went here for dinner on a Saturday night. I made a late reservation for 8:30 pm. I was told if I showed up without a reservation the wait was over 2 hours. We were sat upon arrival. Our server was very nice, but a bit forgetful.... The decor & atmosphere was exactly what we wanted for a romantic evening out. Pros: Ambience & Quality of Food Cons: Expensive $$$$, Hot Bar Selection more

Horrible Food with Horrible Prices 2/14/2007

My husband and I ate at Brasa for Valentine's Day. They jacked up the prices by $7 per plate for the special day. Most the meat was very under cooked. The rice in the appitizer bar was crunchy and most of the food on there was nasty. My husband got the lobster which was undercooked and there were lobster shells broken off all over in the food. I have never felt more ripped off in my life. The food was not good although the service was great. Pros: Nice atmosphere Cons: Food is bad and too pricy for what you get. more
