Brake Team

Brake Team caught my eye a year ago from their $88 brake job sign. I noticed that my front brakes were starting to make noise. Sorry this review is long, but worth reading! I dropped the car off and then went to go have breakfast. When we returned, I noticed that my car was still on the rack with everything still off. My husband goes into the office while I went into the shop to look at the brakes. Nice thing, I know my way around cars so I immediately knew my brakes had a problem. I had nothing left of my rear brake shoes, Also there was a crack starting to form in one of my drums. Still gets worse, they had to remove the rear bearings because they couldn't get them loose from the drums. Front brakes... the whole reason I came in- They were almost to the point that there were no pad left. My rotors were warped and unable to be turned. So, I needed new rotors. Remember, I visually saw all this myself, before talking to anyone. I then walked into the office where my husband was talking to Jason about everything that needed done. I looked at Jason and tried to work together to see what we could do now and what we could wait on. Really, it would be a liability to not do any of it. Jason was amazing he worked on some numbers trying to give us the best deal possible. Once they had the ok to do the work, it took them no time at all. I have recommended brake team to anybody that asks. Jason has amazing customer service skills. There are so many reviews that are on here because your upset that the $88 job came out to be more. Their brake special covers brake pads/shoes and the labor to replace them. There are so many other components to your brake system. Its not their fault that I waited too long to have my brakes checked. Your suppose to have your tires rotated and brakes checked every 3000 miles. I am thankful brake team took the time to check everything and found all those issues. more

I went in for the $88 special. I received a call after the initial inspection from the manager and he informed me that there were some serious issues with my brake system. He worked with me a bit on the price and was very informative. I ended up spending $319, but I was happy when I left because everything was explained.\r \r Jason is awesome and does a good job explaining things. There are a lot of negative comments about Brake Team, but understand they went under new owners about 2 years ago. I was happy with my visit and will return again.\r \r To the guy that wrote below me that all the cars he's owned had dark brake fluid: DO SOME RESEARCH. Dark brake fluid is indicator that copper or other gunk is in your fluid and will eventually ruin your brake components. Brake fluid should look similar to apple juice. more

I took my 2001 Jimmy to this shop. They quoted $400 to fix ABS (light on problem). 3 days later they called and said there was more problems, ABS light was still on, and I owed $400 before I could get my Jimmy back. I refused to pay and they would not give back vehicle until I threatened to call police and report stolen! I finally got Jimmy back and there was 3 small dents on it that were not there when I took it to them. Because I did not pay, I got dents! I took the Jimmy to Meineke (6 blocks down the street) and they replaced same part that Brake Team replaced for $260 and Jimmy is PERFECT!! I then took the part back to Brake Team and gave it to them (because I am an HONEST senior citizen). What a SCAM they have going on here!!!TOTAL RIPOFFS. I would not ever go back or refer this $88 brake repair to anyone. In fact this is to warn other seniors so they dont get ripped off, or small dents, like I did more

the store manager running the computer was very nice to my boyfriend and I as we came in to get what we thought were just some new break pads. Come to find out it was alot more that just that. He basically told us that everything had to go. He quoted us at $900 to fix everything. We literally did not have that much money in our bank accounts and he got irritated with us that we asked them to take the car down so we could figure something else out. He was rude and sarcastic as we were leaving and said ""oh no problem we love doing inspections for free..."". We were both very irritated and took our business elsewhere. more

Jason is the best. He's professionsal and knowledgable and goes out of his way to get the work done. Jesus is a wonderful mechanic and I will continue to ask for him each time I need work done on my SUV. I have finally found a place where I can trust that the work will be done correctly and on time. Went in to have my tires changed over. Great service. The staff was really friendly. The tire change over was done and I got a call faster then expected. I appreciated the information that was given to me about the wear & tear on my current tires. I would go back due to a friend recommending the Brake Team. Thank you. more

Everyone was very nice and engaging. I always worry that I'm getting ripped off and the whole procedure did seem expensive but it all works now so I suppose it was worth it. But I was really impressed by the people there. Jeff was very nice and so was the guy who drove me home. They both seemed to be genuinely nice people.\r \r more

I would be interested in knowing if anybody gets out of there with the $88 brake special that goes in for it. I went in for a $15 oil change and $88 brake job. He called me to tell me that I needed $600 worth of brake repairs on the front alone. I told him I didnt have that money and he whittled it down to $178. That included the $88 brake job and a $98 flush (which he swore it needed because the brake fluid was dark - but all of my cars that have used brake fluid it them has dark brake fluid). Then there were some added costs for hazard and supplies. So they charge me for supplies? Isnt that included in the job? Lastly, they forgot to change my oil. This place is complete crap. Dont go there. Now I spent $217 after tax on something that could have cost $88. Sucks. more

I've had three experiences with them, all bad. First, they will not honor the $88 advertised price for the brakes, they will always find a reason to get out of it. Second, the pressure sales has to do with never doing brakes for $88, third they markup brakes pads around 300% of what they cost next door at Schucks. Third, they straight out lie. The recently told me that ""someone replaced the rotors with the wrong size"" and told me they were dangerously too small. They tried to tell me the pad was only touching half the rotor when I could obviously see the wear marks all over the rotor. They asked who did the job, I was able to show them a receipt that showed THEY did the last brake job on it. They then told me the rotors were just resurfaced by them, but would be happy to sell me a new set for $200. I verified myself elsewhere those were the OEM size rotors. Replacement rotors run $27 each at Schuck's by the way! Fourth - After seeing so many positive reviews here, I thought I would give them another try. Very bad idea. They're just plain dishonest. I received excellent customer service. I appreciated the no-pressure sale to have my struts replaced. I asked for a quote and wasn't able to do it at the time. Rocky, quickly diagnosed my brake problem and had the drums and brake pads replaced in 4 hours. He then explained what had been done and asked if I had any questions. He provided excellent customer service. I will in the future recommend this shop to family and friends. more

I just recently bought a used car from the Dick Hannah Volkswagen at the Vancouver location. Our sales representative was MaryAnne Randall. MaryAnne was knowledgeable, patient and kept my needs in mind at all times.
