Brake Specialists Plus

We were preparing for a trip to visit folks in Canada so, wanting the car (2005 Cadillac - 44,400 miles) in good shape, the fluids and brakes were to be inspected and serviced as required. During inspection it was determined that the rear shocks should be replaced and OOPS! the steering rack was deemed bad and so was replaced. $2,100+ later we were on our way and lost the power steering near Wichita, KS. The dealer that repaired the car said that the connection in the steering gear (rack and pinion) was cross threaded causing unrepairable damage. We returned the damaged part to Paul Goocher (Hutto Manager) who inspected the rack and said that the connection was damaged and assured us that therre would be compensation. About a week later he said that he needed to return the part to the manufacturer (A1 Cardone) for inspection. Some time later he said it would take 30 to 90 days for inspecting. After several phone calls and a subsequent visit to Hutto there was no word on reimbursement. After waiting 90 days (several visits in between) I went to the Cardone website and found that they have a 3 to 5 day turn around on repair and replacement parts! I also found a ProTech bulletin stating that ""Damaged thread/housing due to improper installation will VOID THE WARRANTY. Coul this be a reason for the 90 day delay? The part was returned to Paul on August 4. Today is December 6 and still no word. The lesson? BEWARE, especially if you're if you are a polite, patient senior citizen! more

My turbo went out on my Ford diesel and Ford wanted my first born for payment. I read the reviews for this place and inquired about them installing a turbo I bought for the truck. They were more than happy to help me out. I am back to blowing black smoke and taking people at the line. Nice waiting room too! more

All I can say is I LUV THIS PLACE! Paul is the first person you see and you know what they say about first impressions,,,he is very friendly and will always take the time to chat with you and explain anything you dont understand. He saved me almost 700.00! Firestone told me I had a bearing out and wanted to charge me almost 800.00 so I took it to Paul and all that was wrong was the axle nut had come loose! They put it back on and I was good to go! Hard to find honesty like that these days! we take all our cars and our 40 ft RV there because of the fast and friendly service (plus Paul is so dang awesome) !!! more

Paul and his staff where exceptional... excellent customer service, knowledgeable repair technicians, and an excellent repair facility. Got me right in, inspected my vehicle and found I didn't need brake repair and showed me why. I appreciate honest service, a rarity these days. First time customer who will come back time and time again! Paul was so friendly and helpful; took the time to give me prices over the phone. DID NOT nickle and dime me....actually said I didn't need a couple things another shop recommended!! And not only that but he saved me over $800 dollars in the process. Very clean shop, friendly, knowledgeable staff and excellent value. I will certainly be a return customer!! more

With all the glaring review, I was not happy with the way they nickle and dime you. I wanted my brakes bled, period and thats all I wanted. They come back and tells me that a bolt needed to be replace and they took the bolt out. It cost an extra $30.00 to replace it. This people should not be removing parts from my car unless the customer can see the real problem. Then they use the good old scary tactics and the ususal sales pressure. I was referred to Break Specialist Plus (Hutto) because of good customer reviews. I do not recommend them at all.\r The real sad part is that I have another car that needed a part. I told them to order it and install it for me. I found out that their part was more expensive than the dealer and their labor cost was more expensive. I called and cancel my order because a specialized shop for my car will do it much less. They gave me a hard time cancelling my order. The team at Brake Specialists are experts! My daughter gave me the multi-special coupons as a gift a couple of years ago which introduced me to Total Car Care. It was a great gift that saved me a lot of money and introduced me to a knowledgeable, kind and caring service team. I drive around the metroplex with complete confidence that my car is in excellent repair. They have maintained just about every working part on my vehicle and give me timelines for future car care needs. My AC was on the fritz and appeared to be a big expense this last summer. The guys worked tirelessly to find a small leak - then charged me very little. Just recently my car was in for a 90k service. Afterward, it was purring like a kitten. I believed I needed brakes and tires here at Christmastime, but Paul assured me that I have many more miles to go. WooHoo!\r \r Hats off to the best car doctors at Brake Specialist. I CAME TO BRAKE SPECIALISTS FROM A SALESMAN AT ANOTHER REPAIR SHOP! I WAS SHOCKED THAT HE TOLD ME TO TAKE IT TO BRAKE SPECIALISTS TO GET A SECOND OPINION.WELL I DID AND WOW WAS I SO GLAD I TOOK HIS ADVISE. PAUL THE MANAGER WAS SO PLEASENT TO TALK WITH,HE EXPLAINED EVERY STEP HE AND HIS GUYS WERE TAKING TO LOOK AT MY CAR.ONCE HE LOOKED AT IT AND GAVE ME THE ESTIMATE,I HIT THE FLOOR. I COULDNT BELIEVE THE ESTIMATE WAS $375.00 LESS BUT TO TOP IT OFF PAUL SAID THE OTHER $900 PLUS THE OTHER SHOP IN HUTTO WANTED, MY CAR DIDNT NEED. MY CAR HAS BEEN RUNNING GREAT AND I RECOMMEND EVERYONE IN HUTTO AND THE SURROUNDING AREA TAKE THEIR VEHICLES HERE!!!! I took my Nissan Titan in to the Hutto Brake Specialists to get my six inch lift kit installed. They got the kit installed and the vehicle aligned in about four hours. The truck looks awesome now. Thanks for installing my lift kit and I will definitely send my friends to your shop. more

My husband was constantly warping rotors and wearing the pads out too quickly on his F350 work truck. I brought it over to the Hutto Brake Specialists and had them look it over. The front calipers were sticking bad and one was leaking some brake fluid. They replaced both of the front calipers, resurfaced the rotors and installed severe duty pads. The brakes have been working great over the last month for him and I just had to write this review as a thank you to Paul, the manager, for helping me out. more

I came in for a state inspection and an oil change the other day and met the nicest auto shop manager I have ever dealt with. Paul Goocher should be cloned. Usually you deal with very unhappy and rude managers at several of these local repair shops, but Paul is the complete opposite. His facility is clean. His waiting room is extremely comfortable. They got me in and out in no time. I was kind of bummed, since I almost got to take a cat nap in his waiting room. I will definitely be back to get Paul and his guys to work on my vehicle. more

I had several check engine codes that a couple of other shops have been trying to fix. I figured I would try them, since they were so highly reviewed. They ended up fixing all of my issues early in the day. I then drive the vehicle about 50 miles to get my vehicle ready for inspection and then they fit me in before the end of the day for the inspection. I was pleasantly surprise with my experience here. I will be back in the future for any other repairs. more

I know the building used to be a huge bus barn, but this place is a hidden jewel in Hutto. It is on the other side of TX130 from the rest of Hutto, so it is kind of secluded. I feel that this place is going to be around a long time due to the class act that runs this place namely Paul, the manager. I have been bringing both of my vehicles to Paul, since this place opened last year. I have been very happy with the work done and it is always a pleasure to deal with Paul. I highly recommend this shop as a wonderful place to get your vehicle repaired. I totally agree that the waiting room is really nice at this place (apparently I am not alone on this). more

Run, don't walk to Brake Specialists in Hutto. They did an amazing job repairing my brakes on my Toyota 4Runner after I pretty much trashed them. They even repaired my rear axle seals that have been slowly leaking for the last 9 months or so. My brakes feel like they did after I drove the vehicle off the lot at the Toyota dealership. I gave the Brake Specialists in Hutto a chance to earn my business on a set of tires. They came back with several good options for my truck. I ended up going with a set of Yokohomas. They replaced the tires quickly and I have been enjoying the ride of these tires for the last several weeks. They also aligned the vehicle for me and the truck has been driving straighter than it has in a long time. Thanks Paul for the good service. more

I had the Brake Specialists in Hutto change the oil, fuel filter and fuel/water separators on my diesel truck and my 42-foot RV all in the same day. They were fast and knowledgeable. The cool thing about this location is that it used to be a tour bus barn before it was converted to a Brake Specialists, so they can easily pull in RV's for maintenance. I also noticed that they had several large International trucks in their bays for service. The guy who runs the place is Paul Goocher and he is really great to deal with. I also thought that their waiting room was very comfortable. I will be back with the rest of my vehicles. Thanks Paul. more

FIRST OFF, THIS SHOP HAS A GREAT WAITING ROOM. IT IS COOL, COMFORTABLE AND CLEAN. IT HAS VERY NICE FURNITURE AND VERY COMFORTABLE CHAIRS. THEY ALSO HAVE A NICE LCD TV TO PASS THE TIME. YOU MAY EVEN FALL ASLEEP, SINCE IT IS SO COMFORTABLE (TWO CUSTOMERS ACTUALLY DID EVEN THOUGH THEY WEREN'T WAITING VERY LONG). PAUL, THE MANAGER, IS EXTREMELY FRIENDLY AND A PLEASURE TO DEAL WITH. THEY GOT ME IN AND OUT FOR MY STATE INSPECTION AND SCHEDULED MAINTENANCE. I WAS VERY IMPRESSED WITH THEIR PROFESSIONALISM AND THE TIMELY SERVICE. I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS SHOP TO ANYONE FROM HUTTO OR GEORGETOWN. more
