Friday night 12/20/2009

I had my going away party at Friday at Carnival and was really happy everything ran smoothly. I had roughly 150 people and reserved the entire Funhouse area. The event planner worked out a pricing for the party which surprisingly wasn't too expensive. The waitresses made sure each tables had drinks all night. I'm really glad the party went smoothly. Pros: DJ, Doorman more

Who thought bowling would be cool? 12/16/2009

Last week we were in the union square area and walked passed Bowlmor. After the movies, we stopped in and decided to bowl for a bit. The place was PACKED! It was in it's own little world. Although it was little on the pricey, we found out that Monday night there's some type of special deal there. Pros: DJ, party scene Cons: Pricey more

Corporate Party 12/16/2009

I recently hosted our company's holiday party at Carnival. We heard a few things about Carnival and figured it would be good to try something new. The event planner was very help the whole time...and was even there on the day of our party. Although the pricing was a little pricey...the service was great. It worked out really well since our clients were there as well and had a good time. Pros: Professional, great services Cons: Pricing more

Bowlmor 12/13/2009

We celebrated our friend's birthday at Bowlmor. Instead of the usual nightclubs...we went with Bowlmor. We called up to reserved 4 lanes. The lady in the office was so helpful in setting everything up. When we arrived the hostess sat us immediately. Overall it was a great time. Definitely recommend it to everyone else. Pros: Fun, Friendly Staff, Great Music more

Carnival 12/13/2009

I decided to have my 23rd birthday at Carnival since it was new. I called up and the event planner was kind enough to show us the place. It was really nice...finally something different in New York. The event planner was nice enough to set us up with a table in the Fun house. The DJ played the typical music (hiphop, 80's and top 40's). Overall Carnival was perfect for my birthday party...all my friends had fun and had no issues getting in. Pros: Unique, Friendly Staff, Good Music Cons: Long Iine for coat check more

So not worth it 11/28/2009

They give you 5 tickets, enough for one thing. Most of them suck. Why would I buy more tickets? more

:( :( Did not meet my expectations :( :( 11/22/2009

I went there on 11/21 to celebrate my Birthday with friends. 1st of all, we made up the hand-full of blacks and minorities in the place. When we went to the bar, it was crowded with whities and some of them were looking @ us like "what are THEY doing here" as if we couldn't afford the place. The tickets for the games were pricey and they wanted @ least 4 tickets per game. They have this coat check which is included in the $10 admission but they messed up my ticket and gave me the wrong coat- I just bought it the day before for about $200!!! I'm going there later to speak with a manager and if they don't cut me a check, I am reporting them to the Better Business Bureau and Dept. of Consumer Affairs AND taking them to small claims court!!! I wil let you know how this plays out! They did not leave a impression on me to want to return. Despite this I still enjoyed my night! Pros: Theme and look of the place Cons: Coat check, water down drinks, 95% Whites more

I have mixed feeling about this place 10/31/2009

Like i said this place had its good parts but the bad parts far out way the good. The female bar tender was a bitch, they were mad stingy with the liquor, the drinks were horrible and watered down, the snow cone liquor was shit, and the games were expensive. The general admission was 25 but its usually 50 dollars and that's too much for such a crappy place. ITS SO OVER RATED Pros: nice games, fun house part was banging, dancers were great Cons: female bar tenders are bitchy more

SKP THIS PLACE - it is garbage 10/30/2009

A recent incident at a Chicago night club garnered national media attention when a black patron was not allowed in on the grounds of a strict dress code - no baggy jeans, etc. After switching clothes with a white student, of course the white student was let in with the baggy clothes while the black student was not. The club was busted, and labeled ?racist?. They deserved it. If you think about it, dress codes are intended to keep certain people away, and to get everyone to conform to a standard. But in NYC, style is as much a part of anyone's expression of their individuality as anywhere else on Earth - and yet, when I walked haplessly into Carnival on the horrible advice of a desperate promoter (go figure), I was told to remove my hat. ?Why??, I asked. It was explained to me rather condescendingly, that, "Carnival is trying to become a 'premier night club', so take it off, now." Exact quote. Now look, this club flat out stinks, whether they asked me to take off my hat, or not. It's gimmicky, trashy, cheesy, over-priced, crummy service, etc. But the whole concept of trying to be a premier night club is astonishing to me. How dare they? First of all, premier night clubs actually try to - if you can believe this - cater to their clients!! No way. It?s true, I swear! They have long lists of loyal customers because the customers are treated nicely. When you go to a premier night club, you should feel welcome, relaxed and free to express yourself with style - even if it includes a hat. If you can afford to be there or can get in, goes the business model, enjoy yourself in any way you?d like. Any wonder Justin Timberlake shows up to Marquee in sneakers and a hat, or Jay-Z shows up at wherever else in whatever clothes he damn well pleases? At a premier night club, you are who you are, and you do what you can pay for. At a crap hole trying to keep "riff-raff" out, you need to take your hat off. So from the second I was told to remove my hat, I knew this place would be a total waste of time. And as predicted, the club ? in its herculean failure to create something interesting ? didn?t disappoint. And no, management - hiring the least interesting, most ?yesterday's news? loser of a celebrity - Paris ?plow me on YouTube so I can tell the world I have herpes? Hilton - to host the opening won't make you popular. Nice try. This place is a dump, but if you're up for a laugh, check it out. Just don't wear baggy jeans, sneakers, hats, or anything else that might make you seem black. more

The Most Unique Club in the City!!! 10/11/2009

This place is amazing!!!! I had no idea what I was in store for when I attended the opening on October 8th. They legit shut down the street for the red carpet- and when Paris Hilton arrived, I knew this place was gonna be...HUGE!!! Clearly, Bowlmor Lanes knows how to throw a party. They have a working dunk tank (I actually heard Simon (gross!) from Real Housewives of NYC was dunked there on Saturday) and then they have a drink called the Dunk Tank- its like over 2 gallons of alcohol. And it took all night to drink! Needless to say, we didn't do too well at the games...we were a bit tipsy. I am 100% having my birthday here...and possibly my wedding, I loved it that much! I am a true kid at heart and I think this place speaks to the inner child within us all! Pros: Dunk Tank (the drink and the game!), Spiked Snowcones Cons: Where was this all my life?! more

Bowlmor is such a fun place! 8/9/2009

My friends and I had the best time. We made a reservation so we didn’t have to wait for lanes. And in 2 ½ hours we were actually able to play 4 games each, and we had 5 people on our lane! So, not only did we avoid waiting in line, we actually saved money by making the reservation. The server took our order and brought everything straight to us so that we didn’t have to leave the lanes. It was a great night and we will definitely be back soon! Pros: awesome nachos!!! more

Wednesday night special is ridiculous! 8/5/2009

OMG the Wednesday night special is ridiculous! $4 games and $4 drafts?!? There is not a better deal in nyc for bowling and drinks.. A huge help to me and my “formerly employed” friends. Awesome crowd, music was great and just because I’m out of a job doesn’t mean I can’t go out and have a little recession-friendly fun! more

make sure you clean your plate before heading here... 7/3/2009

I'd love to know what it's like inside, but I'll never know because I made the mistake of showing up with a doggie bag from the place I had just eaten dinner. The bouncer (bowling alleys need bouncers?) held firm - there would be no left over fish tacos entering his bowling establishment. After all, they serve food in there, and if he let someone in who had just finished dinner ten minutes ago and was carrying a doggy bag, then, well, who knows what might happen. Hey keep up the good work buddy, one day you'll graduate to bar bouncer, where even greater challenges await you. In the meantime, someone else will get my entertainment dollar. Nice work. Pros: vigilante security Cons: none - unless you want to go inside more

This is by far the coolest bowing alley I've ever been to! 6/23/2009

Last night was my first time going to bowlmor lanes in union square. A bunch of us went since there is a killer deal on monday nite - 4hrs of unlimited bowling for $24 (which covers shoe rental). the place was packed, but service was very good. Our waitress was on top of everything making sure we always had enough beer and food for the lane. The sliders and potato skins were outstanding and the pizza was pretty good too. This is definitely the place to go on a monday night in nyc.\r more
