Great food and great service 8/3/2005

I have dined at Bouchon many times and each time the food has been excellent and the service great. I have also recommended this restaurant to several friends and all of them have reported that they greatly enjoyed the experience and can't wait to return. Kudos to Thomas Keller and the staff of Bouchon! more

Bouchon provided a variety of tasty dishes in a great setting. I look forward my next opportunity to visit! more

Great Food, Great Service 7/6/2005

I have eaten at Bouchon three times now and will return again soon. The food is excellent - high quality, flavorful and interesting. The service is superb - knowledgable and friendly staff who are attentive and responsive. I highly recommend Bouchon. more

a little bit of france 5/11/2005

If you are looking for a bistro that has delicious food, wonderful atmosphere, and fantastic wine, this is the place. When I walked in, I was very impressed with the sexy interior. The mirrors and candles make everything light up. Our dinner was perfect throughout the whole evening. We shared the french onion soup and beet salad. Both were excellent. For dinner our sever suggested the leg of lamb, it was perfect. My dates trout was equally as good. The server was very knowledgeable about everthing from the wine list to information of all of the food. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone. Pros: Food, Service, Winelist more

Charming setting but terrible service 7/7/2004

I am always looking for new dining experiences and Bouchon lived up to my expectations: a cozy but classy atmosphere tucked away in Napa Valley with well-presented food. The biggest impression that I left with, however, was the incredibly slow and poor service that I received - even bought the bottled water (not great-tasting) but had to constantly refill my glasses myself. The wait for appetizers and dinner averaged 45 minutes each. Still, the service might have been an exception to the rule... Pros: Romantic, Open until 12:30am Cons: , Above-average food more

Sorely dissapointed 2/16/2004

We went to Bouchon while on our honeymoon in the hopes of enjoying a famous Thomas Keller meal. Unfortunately, we were sorely dissapointed when we were served what tasted and looked like London Broil with Lipton Onion Soup Mix slathered on top. The pot de creme for dessert was good, but not good enough to redeem Bouchon in this diners opinion. more

french classics in bustling space 2/15/2004

Everything we had was great, especially the steak frites. For the portions, the entrees were not overprices ($20-30, but the portions were huge). The only complaint I have is that tables are right up against one another and there is no privacy in conversation. If you're looking for a bustling place with lots of energy, Bouchon is great. If you're looking for a romantic place, the atmosphere does the trick, but you'll be right up against other diners. All desserts were $6.50-$7.50. Nothing totally creative or outstanding (profiteroles, creme caramel, pot de creme), but good French classics (once again). more

Terrible experience 1/4/2004

My reservations for a special birthday dinner were confirmed for 7:00 on a Saturday. We came at 6:55 and are told to wait, the table was not ready yet. As the bar was very crowded and they had no waiting room, we were forced to stand in the breezy doorway for over an hour, without a seat or an apology offered. At 8:15 we were seated at a junky-looking iron table directly behind the bar in the cafe area. When we spoke to the manager about our wait, we were offered nothing more than an apology. By that time we were so frustrated and disgusted that we decided to leave. I had thoroughly enjoyed the French Laundry and expected much more from another one of Thomas Keller's restaurants. more

Rude Staff 10/22/2003

Attempted to make reservations a week in advance for dinner. Was informed that 9:45pm was best they could do. Cancelled 9:45pm for a lunch reservation at 1:30pm the following day. Making sure to leave enough time to make our wedding event later in the early evening. When we arrived at 1:26 we were told that we were early and to have a drink at the bar. We informed them that we were not too early for our 1:30pm reservations and were snubbed by staff who said that our reservations were not until 2:00pm. I indicated that I made reservations for 1:30 and the woman was quite rude in her attitude that she would not accomodate us any earlier and in fact that it might be even later. Ironically, I had heard a few simular stories and am sad that I did not heed the warnings. Cons: snobish staff more

A Napaland Theme Restaurant 10/15/2003

Bouchon is a poor excuse for a bistro. Perhaps because it's the only game in town, everyone is in awe of it, but being a bistro habitué, I was sorely disappointed. Let's start with the room--it looks like the shoe department at Lord & Taylor, a big sterile cube with faux bistro touches. No flair, no energy, no style. In spite of having a firm reservation, we were seated after 20 minutes in the cafe at a table that rocked side to side. The drinks were terrible. The oysters were miniscule, some were old, and dirty. My date was offended. Her mussels were passable, my steak (the waiter did not understand ""steak frites"") was merely routine. The fries may have come from MacDonald's. We could not get out of there fast enough. For anyone with a modicum of dining experience, Bouchon is a fraud and a disappointment. Sorry... Pros: hard to think of any Cons: Phoney room, poor service, bad food more

better to sit outside on the patio 6/18/2003

We went to Bouchon for dinner. The only table available, with reservations, was outside on their patio which turned out to be a good thing. Yountville is a beautiful place and being able to sit outside and enjoy the small town was great. The food was very good, but expensive. more

Sitting outside on a clear warm day 2/2/2003

was nice. The service was not as finely detailed as you'd for a place that costs so much, BUT it was very friendly. Everything we had was delicious but nothing that was exquisite, or at least worth raving about every once in a while throughout the meal, and maybe mentioning again in the car later. The local honey on the cheese plate was pretty incredible though. And it IS an excellent place to sit on a sunny day and have a good lunch and take pleasure in how quaint and beuatiful Yountville is. more

So So.. 1/21/2003

Very nice Frech Bistro atmosphere. Comfy and not too loud. Oyster bar that looked good. Limited menu however, and a bit pricey for what you get. more
