Bouchon is a poor excuse for a bistro. Perhaps because it's the only game in town, everyone is in awe of it, but being a bistro habitué, I was sorely disappointed. Let's start with the room--it looks like the shoe department at Lord & Taylor, a big sterile cube with faux bistro touches. No flair, no energy, no style. In spite of having a firm reservation, we were seated after 20 minutes in the cafe at a table that rocked side to side. The drinks were terrible. The oysters were miniscule, some were old, and dirty. My date was offended. Her mussels were passable, my steak (the waiter did not understand ""steak frites"") was merely routine. The fries may have come from MacDonald's. We could not get out of there fast enough. For anyone with a modicum of dining experience, Bouchon is a fraud and a disappointment. Sorry...
Pros: hard to think of any
Cons: Phoney room, poor service, bad food
