My reservations for a special birthday dinner were confirmed for 7:00 on a Saturday. We came at 6:55 and are told to wait, the table was not ready yet. As the bar was very crowded and they had no waiting room, we were forced to stand in the breezy doorway for over an hour, without a seat or an apology offered. At 8:15 we were seated at a junky-looking iron table directly behind the bar in the cafe area. When we spoke to the manager about our wait, we were offered nothing more than an apology. By that time we were so frustrated and disgusted that we decided to leave. I had thoroughly enjoyed the French Laundry and expected much more from another one of Thomas Keller's restaurants.
