They don't even deserve 1 star, except the drivers helpers were very good at moving the items. As the previous reviewer stated, all the bad reviews are true. I was given a quote...

HORRIBLE!!!!! 9/20/2010

These people were awful! Contacted them to move my college bound son's things from MA to CA. Contacted them initially and explained the date we were looking to have his stuff arrive and scheduled a date for pick up. Was lead to believe it would take only a week or two.\r \r On moving day the fine print changed and i found out after the date wqs pushed out weeks beyond what i originally expected. Yes it was in the fine print, but shame on this company for switching terms in the middle of a very hectic moving day.\r \r Find a mover that actually cares about its customers. more

Really great service at a great price 8/9/2010

Boston Flat Rate Movers moved me last Monday from the South End to a new apartment in Dorchester, and their service was great, in every way, from start to finish.\r \r E-mail and phone advice was all friendly and helped with the estimate as well as preparing for the move. The movers themselves were not just prompt, but a little early, and they were a really hard-working crew--as well as friendly and careful. \r \r All in all, these guys took the stress out of a stressful situation, and outperformed Gentle Giant and Charles River on both customer service and a low bid. A colleague at work tipped me off to Boston Flat Rate Movers, and I'm glad he did. I'm already recommending them to everyone I know who has a move coming up.\r \r Thanks, guys!\r more

Recently, my firm placed a high level candidate with one of our Biotech clients in California. Boston Flat Rate Movers worked with us to come up with a cost effective relocation plan. Both my client and candidate were very pleased with the price and service. From the start they were by far the best service provider we were considering. Took special care of all my itmes 4/9/2010

i really like this moving service. they helped me out so much with a move i could never have done by myself or even with friends. i collect rare antique furniture, and they took such careful care with everything. i was so impressed. the only negative is that they showed up about 15 minutes late...no big deal really. love the service and the price. Excellent Moving Service 3/22/2010

I recently used Boston Flat Rate Movers for my move from Quincy to Hull. The team arrived and got right to work. I've moved many times, using Gentle Giant in the past. These guys were much less expensive and just as efficient. They took extra care to make sure fragile furniture was wrapped and packed on the truck properly. I will definitely use this company again for my next move. Highly recommend. Pros: Fast, courteous and efficient service Cons: cost of packing tape, etc. not included in estimate more

Don't use if you have nice furntiure 2/19/2010

First these guys were late, called after they were ALREADY late to tell me they were gonna be late. REALLY!!! So then they show up and start moving our stuff. I specifically told them to be very careful with our bedroom set and I don't want it scratched because it's easily scratched. Well, they listened. They didn't scratch it but hunks of wood were missing from corners and it was in obvious places. It will cost us more than the cost of their lousy service to fix all the furniture they messed up. I am literal...EVERY PIECE OF WOOD FURNITURE WE HAVE WAS DAMAGED. They are talented because they used the blankets on our bedroom set and still managed to ruin it. I would not recommend my worst enemy to use this company. Only one spoke English, hello....this is america. Learn the language please. I don't really have any bad thing to say about this company. Tough to give a moving company 5 stars, but they really were everything I wanted from them...and they were very affordable -- very unlike Boston. Easiest most comfortable move I've ever done. My friends usually use Gentle Giant, which are good but very expensive. One of their employees pointed me toward Boston Flat Rate Movers while I was helping my friend move. Wow, was I ever impressed! Boston Flat Rate Movers handled everything for me! So easy and so inexpensive for what you get. Pros: everything Cons: nothing more

A moving company is a moving company, but I really liked Boston Flat Rate Movers' service. They were nice on the phone, helpful to explain everything in advance, called to let me know they were running a little late, and were very polite and kinds throughout the experience. more

I'm NEVER moving by myself again 12/2/2009

Okay okay, I know I should have known this by now, but wow, is it ever easier hiring someone else to move than to do it yourself. I will not miss the money I spent moving, but I certainly regret the headaches and time it took to move myself before. Boston Flat Rate made everything easy. Billing was clear and laid out at the beginning and they took it from there. Worth every penny. I wish I had learned this lesson years ago. Pros: I don't have to move Cons: they do : ) more

I almost lost my kitten! But good company 11/19/2009

Well, I almost wanted to kill the movers after they left a door open and my dear kitten nearly escaped. Luckily, one of them noticed it as he was coming back into the house and brought it back inside. Poor thing! Anyway, the moving service was actually quite good, as is pretty obvious from all the excellent reviews. I hope to never move again, but I would probably use them again if I did -- but next time I'll keep my kitty in the bedroom! more

Boston Flat Rate is what you need in a moving company 11/18/2009

Called them on a Friday to move out on a Wednesday. No problem. I ended up with some really tricky household items and unexpectedly narrow staircases. No problem. I had a lot of delicate items that could easily have been broken if handled poorly. No problem. I didn't have much money to spend on a move so I needed a cheap mover. No problem. Boston Flat Rate = No problems. Pros: punctuality, price, friendly more

Boston Flat Rate was simply the best moving company I've ever used. Quoted me a fair price, arrived on time, moved difficult furniture down a spiral staircase with ease, delivered my belongings on time, etc. I could not be happier with the service. Pros: cheap, effective Cons: none! more

TRAVEL TIME IS A FARCE I SPECIFICALLY ASKED AND WHEN I QUESTIONED IT, THE PERSON I SPOKE WITH WAS NOT AVAILABLE TO SPEAK WITH.\r THE GUYS DELIBERATELY SLOWED DOWN TO ROUND OUT TO THE NEAREST HOUR...THE CHARGED ALMOST A THOUSAND DOLLARS FOR A 3 ROOM APARTMENT MOVE 15 MILES APART!!!\r BE CAREFUL OF THAT DECEPTIVE LOW QUOTE...\r ALSO ELI IS VERY RUDE, WHOEVER HE MAY BE Cons: $67.00 DOLLARS FOR TAPE!!!! more

I used boston flat rate to move from brookline to the north end. I ordered the service months in advance and they were pretty much on time. the rate quoted was very affordable for me, especially being a student. The guys were pretty nice and careful with all my things -- which is important for me as I collect blown glass. I've heard horror stories about moving companies, so whoever you choose, be sure to book ahead and follow up multiple times. Pros: affordable, on time more
