We've been using Bob's for 15 years. They have never, ever pressured us into any repair. If we didn't want the work done they were always very polite about it. Every repair shop...

Avoid at all Cost!!!!! 4/13/2012

AVOID at all cost!!! I went here to get my state inspection done, the receptionists were very grumpy, and I overheard several of the mechanics talking and they seemed to be making mistakes left and right. They also called me and told me that I needed to brakes and rotors for a total cost of 580 dollars. I knew that these parts were fine so I got my car back and took it to API auto also in Charolttesville where I was told that there was absolutely nothing wrong with by brake pads or rotors and was promptly given my passing inspection. I know several people who have gone there and been ok but you shouldn't have to worry about whether you are going to get lucky that day or not. Go to API they were amazing! SHORT STORY::::: 1. Tried to charge me 580 dollars to pass inspection for parts which were perfectly fine 2. Mechanics seemed to be lost and very unorganized 3. Secretaries were very unfriendly 4. Go to API in Charlottesvillethey are awesome! more

Not happy 2/5/2012

They put on new brakes for me. They charged a lot, stating how it was necessary to put new this and new that but then gave me a year warranty to come back and get it fixed if I wasn't satisfied so I thought ok, that's fair. Now granted, my brakes have worked since then, so I can't complain about them not working, but they are the most annoyingly loud and squeaky brakes I've EVER heard. I can't believe I'm 'that person' with the annoyingly loud car that sounds like it's cutting through a steel pipe every time I brake. They told me this was normal at first and it would go away...well it's been since July 2010 and still hasn't gone away. I need to get it looked at by someone else...did not go back here, didn't want to have them look at it after this experience more

Disgraceful!! 1/22/2012

Stay away from these guys, they bent a new wheel whilst putting on tires on my car and then Bob tried to claim it was already bent. I wish I had checked into these guys before I had taken my car there, lots of poor reviews all over the net. more

Horrible Front Desk Staff not worth it! 12/16/2009

Bill's has a staff problem--at the front desk. The dark haired women has a tiny bit of power she likes to use. I was there for a tire repair, which led to additional work--which is ok, I trust the mechanics, and I was given a time estimate. I said I was on a tight schedule. No problem. So the time goes by, no updates, no info; it's. About 15 or 20 minutes past the time, so I asked at the desk. The dark haired woman yells out to the garage and then tells me, "they're finishing up." I asked how much time that might take and she did not ask them, she blew it off with, "they're finishing up." So I wait. And 30 minutes later I ask to speak with the manager. The woman now tells me Oh, I'm working on your paper now. But she didn't bother to tell me, though I was standing right there and she knew the circumstances. I'm going to write to Bob. He needs to know he lost a customer--who doesn't want to be treated like a beggar to be brushed off and embarrassed. Pity; the service dept is so good. more

Good service! 7/9/2009

We've been using Bob's for 15 years. They have never, ever pressured us into any repair. If we didn't want the work done they were always very polite about it. Every repair shop here in Cville, makes their money-up in different ways..I've tried a few places. I've never bought any tires from any repair shop because they don't have tires in bulk quantities(to offer discount prices) like a Sear's or Merchant's. I am not affiliated with Bob's in any way; this is an honest review. more

They are the Best 4/3/2009

Bob and his people are absolutely the best auto shop that I have even encountered. These people are professionals and their honesty and integrity cannot be challenged. You cannot go wrong with Bob's Wheel Alignment. more

Great 3/19/2009

Bob and the whole crew at Bob's Wheel Alignment were very courteous and trustworthy. The free shuttle service was a nice perk, so I could get errands done while my car was being worked on. Thanks, guys! more

Don't get taken to the cleaners! 3/1/2008

I had a very disappointing experience with Bob s Wheel Alignment, after they came recommended to me by coworkers who liked their shuttle service. I took my Toyota to have the tires checked and was told that I needed new tires (~$175) - plus a totally new front brake job (over $800), for a grand total of $1100! The salesperson even told me it was not safe to drive my car. Luckily my dad knows about cars and thought it was a preposterous estimate, especially because I had my brakes done only 23,000 miles ago. Dear Old Dad said I should get a second opinion from a place that would not use fear tactics to get me to replace my entire brake system. I then took my car to Merchant Tires where they said the brakes were fine - they had 9.86 remaining when the minimum required by law is 2 (mm?). So basically, I spent $285 for tires and alignment, when I could have been taken to the cleaners by Bob s. Beware, and get a second opinion if you take your car there! more

Good work 11/9/2005

They've done a good job on two of my cars, as well as providing before/after alignment specs when asked. Seems to be held in high regards around the area, but if you need to align an older Mercedes (<~96) they do not use the steering box lock or spreader bar called for to do proper alignment. Should be OK for most other makes. more
