I had been a longstanding fan of Bob Stevens Appliances having bought stainless professional outdoor grills, all the high-end appliances for a Hamptons kitchen renovation (Sub-zero, Viking, etc) so when it came time to do another high end kitchen renovation, this time in NYC, I went back to BSA for a Meile built-in refrigerator, diswasher, sub-zero wine cooler, microwave, etc. A fiasco from the start. They twice didnt call me back when I was trying to arrange delivery. At one point they couldn't find me in the computer. I asked in 4 different phone calls to have a receipt faxed so I could simply have my order number for when I called and that took over a week to accomplish. Each time I called it was as if I was starting over. Then they promised delivery on a date (I took the day off) and they never showed. I called and they couldnt explain what happened (I had the name and time of who I talked to etc.). Then a senior manager became involved and things got worse. The Meile refrigerator arrived heavily damaged and for 2 weeks BSA tells me they have called Meile and that the rep is supposed to call me (Yet BSA never gives me the name or number of the Meile rep). I have twice called to get the missing microwave delivered - Finally, BSA promised on a Thursday to have someone deliver it to Sag Harbor today (Saturday). I was making it easy for them and I was going to carry it back to the city myself. I had been waiting until noon so I just called to confirm and was told by BSA that they forgot (again!). Something has happened since I last bought from them... a total lack of professionalism and seemingly chaotic management. When I started experiencing this I also needed two large in-wall airconditioners and a Jenn-Air downdraft range which BSA does not carry so I went to PC Richards a few weeks ago. I was met with informed, professional salespeople, a flawless delivery team who called to arrange and confirm, who delivered in two days and within the time window I requested, all at a good price. I would have saved countless hours of aggravation by skipping Bob Stevens. Unfortunately, I still have to talk to them every couple days until my $5,000 refrigerator is fixed or replaced! Save yourself and run run run to PC Richards first. You will probably see that the prices are actually about the same.
