The atmosphere is nice. The food is expensive and the portions are small. The bar area is fun. I prefer ""7 Fish"".

Mixed Feelings 9/3/2010

Ok, this place is ecentric to say the least. Very worth the visit, because I personally have never been to anything like it. Our wait was very long and we got there early like 5:00ish. It probably was an hour an a half wait. Most of the seating is outdoors, which is cool, but what's not cool is all the cats running around. They're all over. In fact they were underfoot while we were eating! more

Great Bar at Night & Great Breakfast 2/17/2010

Had the best Lobster Eggs Benedict with lime hollandaise - unbelievable food - live jazz in the morning - awesome! Went back at night & had a great time. Outdoor bar was the coolest place in Key West. Pros: Best Breakfast & outdoor bar more

luved this place! 2/13/2010

you have to go at non-peak hours. we went early for breakfast and were seated inside right away. AND served right away. We had the lobster omlet and it was so good I practically inhaled it! the mimosa was perfect as was the service! When I read the reviews about the chickens and cats running around I didnt want to go but heard from the locals how good it was we went anyway. The cats and chickens are in the outside eating area not the inside AND we only saw 2 cats. We came outside after eating and it was starting to get busy and they were serving coffee to those waiting AND had heaters going! Go here! you wont regret it! My mouth is STILL watering for that food! Pros: great lobster, excellent homemade bread, tasty tasty tasty! Cons: non more

Funky Food in Key West 3/22/2009

Gourmet but unpretentious food. All food is made from fresh local produce. Cats sleep under the menu table and chickens running around. The coffee is fabulous and the mimosa are to die for.A definite stop for any visit to Key West. more

A Really Good Lunch 2/27/2009

My husband and I had a really good lunch recently, when we visited Key West, at Blue Heaven. It took us a while to find it, but it was worth it. My lobster sandwich and key lime pie were great. We didn't even mind the chickens. They kind of added to the character of the place. I recommend it. more

Coolest spot for breakfast 1/14/2009

My husband and I are on honeymoon in Key West and had our first breakfast here. This place is soooo cool. The food was excellent and our waitress was very responsive and nice. The atmosphere is out of this world. I love the openess and flora. I would recommend this as a must see spot for anyone going to Key West. more

My Blue Heaven 8/4/2008

This place has the most excellent breakfast foods. The banana bread is to die for! Great people here, service was wonderful. You'll love the cats and the chickens running around. Moderately priced, but well worth it. The food is classic island fusion cuisine that is prepared by someone's very soulful grandmother. Very diverse menu selections. more

Blue Heaven's Obnoxious Blue-Haired Hostess 3/19/2008

If you enjoy being insulted by an obnoxious, old sea hag of a hostess whose face looks like a wrinkled old catcher's mitt while waiting an hour for a seat, then this is your place. If not, then DO NOT GO THERE!!!! Because I know I never will again. So much for Key West charm. I guess when a place becomes a well-known tourist attraction, courtesy and customer service take a back seat. I will be sure to tell everyone back home to boycott this place on principle. There are plenty of other great restaurants on the island where you don't have to put up with a bitter old woman who hates her job while you are on vacation. If I were a manager at Denny's, I wouldn't even consider hiring her to wash dishes. Cons: Hostess was obnoxious, self-rightous, and flat-out rude. more

Best Pancakes ever! 9/28/2007

If you go to the keys make time to visit this restaurant. It is pricey but worth it. Do try to go when the rushes are over. My husband, my eight year old son and I went for brunch on a friday and were seated right away. This place was awesome. made me feel like i was in the tropics, my son loved the chickens and cats, i loved the whole place! Pros: truly an experience. You wont dine in another restaurant anything like this one. more

Best Key Lime Pie ... in a fun atmosphere! 11/14/2006

Stopped at many places in the keys to try as many key lime pies as possible and this place's pie was THE BEST!!!!!!! We went at lunch time (just after 1pm) and didn't have to wait for a table. Servers don't dote on you, so if thats the service you need then don't stop here. All dishes ordered at our table were outstanding ... the lobster was awesome as were the grilled cheese sandwiches and the JamaicanJerk chicken cesear. The bread there is to die for. If you do stop here, go when its not peak dining hours and definitely try their key lime pie. Pros: Key Lime Pie, Great Bread, Awesome food all around Cons: A little pricy but worth it really. more

Terrific! 10/20/2006

At the recommendation of our innkeeper at the Seascape Inn we walked to Blue Heaven for dinner. It was the middle of Goombay, and I feared that we'd never get in, but we had a table in 15 minutes. Pros: Great environment, wonderful food more

Blue Heaven 7/14/2006

Blue Heaven Restaurant 10/5/2005

Theres a quaint and special place to eat in Key West that locals and visitors alike just seem to rave about. I would guess its probably the most popular restaurant on the island if for no other reason then the shear numbers of people who inquire about it. Where else? Blue Heaven. Ive heard it called My Blue Heaven, Heavenly Blue, the place with the roosters and cats and numerous other configurations, but everyone seems to know about it. Is its popularity based on anything concrete, or is it just a faade? You will definitely find your surroundings on the interesting side with meals served at tables outdoors on a dirt floor, plenty of chickens and roosters are roaming the property, cats sleeping on fences, chairs, rooftops and on the bar and a parachute slung over the trees acting as a sun blocker. You could well be in the Key West of the 1920s if left to your imagination. The description of the environment alone could stand as the soul lure that draws in the clientele, but t more

Fantastic 7/31/2005

I went here one morning and had a breakfast tortilla. I wasnt expecting anything amazing, but its one of the few breakfast places open at 8 AM. I was pleasantly suprised, it was the best meal I've ever had in my life, literally. A group I went with after recovering from a night of boozing went a few hours after I did and they said the same thing as I did. Fantastic! more

too long of a wait 6/4/2005

dont expect to be seated in under two hours, this last november our freinds went to key west for the first time and because rachael ray stopped at blue heaven they had to go,after a two hour fifteen minute wait we were all seated ,a hour for our food to get there,25 minutes trying to pay the tab.we told them there are great little places all over the island that havent received all the hype Pros: good food, good drinks Cons: high price, horrible wait, poor service more

Great Place 6/2/2005

What an awesome place to dine...unique is not even a word to descripe it...The food was excellent...so was the service and ambiance/entertainment...i.e....chickens. We have eaten at many 5 and 4 star resturants and the food there equaled and surpassed. We ate at the Blue Heaven more than once during our stay.... Pros: Food, Inexpensive, Service Cons: Heat, Humidity more

Bring a Friend! 5/19/2005

We visited Key West with 4 other couples and have a tendancy to go seperate ways for breakfast. We went to Blue Heaven they went for ""tradition fare"" eggs and bacon. The wait was well worth it! Mimosas tied us over. The Lobster Benedict was superb - so good that we raved to our friends and they agreed to come with us the next day. We walked over and they complained about how far it was, but after brunch said it was well worth it. The chickens, the outdoor atmosphere and the homemade bloody marys are only a small part of the entire experience. We had the seafood omlet (YUM!). lobster benedict, pancakes and other omlettes. The coffee was so smooth and flavorful, I'm now hooked on Baby's and order it on a regular basis for home and work. We will definitely return every time we visit Key West! Pros: Food Quality, Atmosphere, Service more
