Last month I read earlier reviews and emailed BHCAH what I found. Not believing those posts for a minute, mind you, as they sounded like sour grapes to me, having nothing to do w...

The staff whom I spoke to are nice enough, but lack any attention to detail, or are poorly trained on using their own system for recording charges. I went in two weeks before Than...

They have no shame 9/7/2010

Good: The location is the only good thing about Block House. It is close and convenient. That is the only good thing. However, I would drive hundreds of miles before I would ever go back to that vet.. Bad: They appear to be in business purely for the money and could care less about the animals. They are very unorganized and you always have to wait a very long time to see the vet and then it takes forever for them to check you out. When you ask why it is taking so long they have no answer. Nobody seems to know what is going on. It was a terrible experience from beginning to end. I would never go there again. The staff is clueless & one of the staff, Kim Messanger, was extremely rude and arrogant.. Improvements: There are too many things wrong with that place. They would have to fire everyone including the vets and start all over again. It is very upsetting to think about how the animals that are taken there are being treated. Why would anyone ever take their pet back for a second visit.. Other: Kim Messanger, overcharged me and when I confonted her about overcharging me, she became very irate. She had charged me $9.28 for packaging & shipping the Coggins blood test to the lab. Vets never charge for packaging/shipping blood tests to the lab. She also charged me $21 for an equine exam. My horse did not get an exam. I asked her to check with the vet because I was with my horse the whole time & he did not get an exam. She refused! I could not believe they cheated me out of $31. Unbelievable!. more

Treat staff worse than animals 3/2/2009

They may know how to take care of animals, that is their job, but they certainly do not know how to treat employees. They have a high turnover rate and now I know why. Dr U curses his staff, calls them names, belittles them, calls them idiots, and Cookie is no different. She is rude and puts down staff in front of clients....They dont give breaks or lunches unless you work over 8 hours, no holiday pay. They don't pay well to begin with, no benefits of any kind. You would be better off working at walmart. And the kicker...Dr U has no problem taking his anger out on the animal when he gets mad at his staff...and everyone thinks he is wonderful. I would never take my animal there, and I definately would not work their. more

Problem After Problem 8/21/2005

This is a nice facility, BUT they have not impressed us with the medical care for our animals. First off, we adopted a Cocker Spaniel from the Humane Society who has an undiagnosed eye problem. There is a mass on his eye, so they took a tissue sample of it to get is analyzed in College Station. Well, the report came back with nothing according to one Vet there. I decided I wanted a copy of that report and guess what it read -- the tissue sample was not done correctly so it couldn't be tested! They should have told us that, our poor dog has a terrible looking eye because of this and they didn't even admit to an error. They let us think that there was nothing wrong! The next thing is that even though we submitted all his paperwork about his shot history, they treated us like we forged his information. They said that they needed to call and verify that we actually got the shots that we said we did, because we could be using our other dogs paperwork as his. We care way too much about our 3 Cocker Spaniels to ever think about doing this. This is also one of the biggest nickle and dime clinics I have been to. We have talked to several other pet owners and they all say the same thing. You won't walk out without paying for some test, medication or special food. They make you feel like a subpar pet owner unless you buy buy buy. We switched to another vet clinic and they are wonderful. We had an issue with our belated cat, that BlockHouse Creek animal clinic could never diagnose but charged us over and over without any results. Well, the first visit to the new clinic -- we had our answer! Diabetes. I am sure that some people love this clinic, but we have had a lot more negative things happen than what is stated above and found better fit elsewhere. more
