Blanchard's Bakery

Until this past weekend, I had only positive things to say about this bakery. I placed an order for my son's birthday cake a month in advance. Ella herself took the order. She made her notes and asked that I email pictures to her that I wanted incorporated into the cake. About 3 weeks prior to the date, the images were emailed as requested. I never received a reply. I called 3 days prior to the day of the party, never received a return call. I called back the day before the party and she was totally lost. She could not recall the conversation she and I had when I placed the order so much that I told her to disregard the whole conversation. The day of I go to pick the cake up, it was totally wrong. I asked for a white cake, the whole cake was yellow which was suppose to be one of the colors of the decorations not the entire cake. I expressed to them that my cake was not correct and that I was not happy because it was not what I ordered. They tried to sell me on why the cake was ok despite their mess up. Nonchalantly I was given $10.00 off a $100 cake and thrown my receipt on the counter by the other employee. We cut the cake...again wrong. I asked for chocolate flavored cake, I got a german chocolate cake. Tasted awful. I had previously read the review on here an other sites about the poor customer service and now I have had the same experience. Its really sad that when you patronize a business that could potentially have a good product that it is destroyed with such poor customer service/etiquette. I received a call today, after the fact, from a lady stating that she was following up to the message I left last week. I told her that I placed the order and already picked up the cake. Also told her about the poor experience and she too was nonchalant. IF YOU VALUE CUSTOMER SERVICE, CHOOSE ANOTHER BAKERY BECAUSE THIS IS NOT IT. more

I have ordered cakes from Ella for many occassions: Christmas party, 1st birthday, Sweet 16, anniversary, open house to name a few. I have always been very pleased with the quality of the baked goods, always moist and fresh; and the buttercream icing is the best I have ever tasted. (Red velvet is a new holiday tradition in my house!). more

Sorry that the previous reviewers had such a bad customer service experience, but I have had exactly the opposite. I have placed 4 orders in 2007 and this is the only bakery I will ever use! The cakes and petit fours are the best I have ever had. I MADE A MISTAKE on the date I wanted a sheet cake ready for 100 and Miss Ella adjusted and had the cake ready for me the very next day. Yes it's a small business, yes it's mom and pop, but hey....if you want corporate, dry, run of the mill cake, then go to that type of shop. These are down home desserts for down home people....just like with any other good restaurant or business in Atlanta...there may be a short wait....but it's worth it!!! I bought a birthday cake and although the taste was fine, the cake looked and tasted like a box cake. Duncan Hines Super Moist Yellow Cake to be exact. I was very disappointed that I paid so much and drove so far for a cake that came out of a box. I could have made this cake myself. I will not go this bakery again! more

I understand the previous customer's frustration and disatisfaction. I had a long wait myself on the day I picked up my Grandson's Birthday Cake, and it was very frustrating. However, the cake itself was worth whatever aggravation I may have suffered, and will definately order from there again.... Maybe a little ahead of schedule!!!! It is a tiny shop, in a tiny place, and extremely busy !!! But this is now MY BAkery!!!! more

They did not have my cake ready on the day I specified and, to make matters worst, the owner made it seem like it was my fault that they screwed up the date. She even went so far as say that I should have given her my phone number. Excuse me, but shouldn't a professional business person know that it is their responsibility to acquire any pertinent information in order to conduct a smooth business transaction?
