Black Pearl! 8/14/2009

I enjoyed Black Pearl. It was the first restaurant we saw when we arrived in Destin and we decided to try it. I really liked the ocean view and the shrimp and scallops were superb. more

Tries too hard to be special 3/19/2009

My sons and I ate there. We tried three different items from the sunset menu. I was excited about the wood fired grill. If they had of stopped there it would have been great, but they tried to do the extra touch to make it fancy and that is where they bobbled. They offered a bisque that had potatoes and corn....sounds like chowder to me. I love bisque but not chowder. I passed. I had the sunset platter that had mahi mahi, scallops, and shrimp. The garlic potatoes were cold. The fish had onions and papaya kind of like a Hawaiian dish. I wish they had of just grilled it plain. The toppings didn't work. I prefer the fish to be more raw or more cooked. The way it was was ok, but not great. What you could taste of the smoke flavor was very good on the scallops and shrimp. The cocktail sauce was good as well. My son had the seafood au gratin and again it was ok. My other son had the Blackened Chicken Alfredo. It was the best of the three dishes. The service was friendly and very good althoug more

One big glitch 4/23/2008

I traveled from Destin to Fort Walton 15 miles on a Tuesday nite to eat at the Black Pearl. There were five people in our party. We arrived at the restaurant around 7:30 PM there was a sign out front saying closed for a private party. They recommeded we try other restaurants in the boardwalk complex. Since it was late we tried another Restaurant in the complex. Later I was walking around and saw someone out front at the Black Pearl. I walked up to find out why they would close their place to the walk in public for a private party. The owner or manager said he would do it anytime there was a chance to rent out the whole place. I told him I never heard of a restaurant doing this to the walk up public. If you want to eat there you better call ahead to see if it is closed for a private party. Pros: may be good food Cons: you may find this place closed for a private party more

Great Seafood, Stunning Gulf Beach View! 10/30/2006

After dining at many places in Ft.Walton/Destin, during our Atlanta getaway weekend, we came across The Black Pearl. It's located within the up and coming Boardwalk Pavillion of restaurants/bars/shopping establishments. It's only open for dinner, and offers a stunning beachfront view of the Gulf of Mexico. Very contemporary interior, with a slick bar area, and professional servers. Their specialty here is Wood-Fired Seafood. Oh goodness what a treat. My partner had large grilled prawns with a Mango-Chutney sauce, over rice cakes. And of course, I had the house specialty, blackened wood-fired red snapper. A casual-dressy atmosphere, was perfect with that memorialble view. We will be back! Pros: Perfectly Wood-Grilled Fresh Seafood! Nice Service! Cons: None! Are You Kidding! more
