Black Lotus Tattoo & Piercing

Black Lotus surprised me the first time I saw it. It's not just a small place that gives you tattoos and piercings; it's a place with character, a place where everyone actually cares about how you are feeling, whether you are nervous or scared. When I arrived to the Black Lotus parlor, I had planned to get my belly button pierced. But when I stepped out of my car, a chill of fear ran down my spine. I walked into the parlor, and I was immediately having thoughts of backing out, though I had wanted the piercing for a long time. As I was having my thoughts of backing out, Joe greeted my friend and I. I explained to him what my fears were, and he reassured me that everything would be okay, but that it was my choice whether or not I really wanted to get the piercing. As he led me to the piercing room, I asked if my friend could come with us, and Joe allowed it. Having my friend come with was a big relief. The place was very clean, and everyone was helpful. Black Lotus is the best tattoo and peircing parlor to go to! I am a freshman at Sonoma State University and came to college really wanting to get my nose pierced. After about two weeks after school started I recieved a flyer on the door of my dorm with prices for all the piercing Black Lotus offers. Black Lotus is the choice I have made to go to, to get it peirced. Sonoma State University and Santa Rosa Junior College students go to Black Lotus if you want to get either a piercing or tattoo. The staff at Black Lotus is very friendly, talented, and extremely professional. Joe (the owner) is very welcoming. Also, if you are a student at SSU or SRJC you recieve a discount on piercings $35 dollars! (And it even includes the jewelry!) You can't beat that price anywhere! My roomate had her nose pierced- a ring on her nose and she wanted to take it out to put in a stud instead but was unable to. So, she went to Black Lotus to have them take it out for her and they did it for free! She said she loved the place. Everyone that has gone to Black Lotus has nothing but great remarks about it. It is very clean, sanitized, and a welcoming place. If you are planning on getting a piercing, definitely choose Black Lotus and you will not be dissapointed! I went a month ago to get a lip piercing at Black lotus and right when i walked in Joe started to talk to me. The place was really relaxing and he talked to me the whole time. I think he could tell that i was nervous plus i went in by myself. He was great and very professional. That night my lip started to swell because i bit the ring when i was eating and i went in the next day. He helped me out and told me to come back in a week to get it done again. He didnt charge me and was really cool about it. When I first started to go to SSU, I had a sudden urge to get my lip pierced. I went around asking people "where is a good place to get it done". A lot of people referred me to Black Lotus. As im pulling up to the place, some fear sets in. I?m thinking to myself, how this ?little hole in the wall? is going to do a good job. As I step foot in Black Lotus I?m immediately greeted by Joe (Owner). I start to look around the store, making sure everything seemed fine. Everything in the store looked up to par. I began telling Joe what I wanted done. As we walk back into the room I started to get a little nervous. He aloud me to bring my friends back with me. So you know that everything was legit. He starts comforting me with eases telling me that everything will be alright. It won?t hurt, if you start feeling dizzy let me know. The next second it was done, I didn't feel a thing. Joe definitely knows what he's doing. My lip never got infected. All I did was just follow the simple rules that he gave you. Maybe that?s why others get infected, BECAUSE you don't follow the simple guidelines that he gives you. I actually referred all my friends to go there. And they all came back with the same results as me. They love the shop, everything turned fine. He did a great job. I actually went by there a few more times and he gladly helped me out with any problems I had. Joe is a pretty chill guy and Black lotus is one of the few shops that know what there doing. All my friends got piercings/tatoos from there and they said that he did an awesome job. I would highly advise you going there. Try it out. You wont regret it more

So I just moved to the area at the beginning of the school year, and was looking for a new shop. I checked out a few differant places, but they were all kinda.. not my style. Any place that's gonna pierce me had better smell nice, look clean, and be relaxing. When I finally found Black Lotus it was just what I wanted. The fountans, the candles, even some cute bonzai tree things :) Everyone in the shop was super nice to me, and the piercing itself didnt even hurt! The guy who pierced me obviously knew what he was doing. It's been a couple of weeks now, and I love soooo much! I'll be sending all my friends in too. Thanks, BlackLotus! Seriously! I had never been pierced before going to Black Lotus and was incredibly nervous. I went in with my boyfriend of the time and my best friend and both referred to Joes professionalism and intuitiveness to calm me down. They werent lying. Since then Ive gone to him numerous times for numerous things. Sometimes I just go in to check in. Everytime I get pierced anywhere else it gets infected or they do a botch job. Joe never makes you feel bad about a bad piercing and always works with your wants to get you just what you needed. His attitude makes him the perfect piercer, calm and artistic. Id refer my mom to this place too. Its incredibly clean serene and interesting. Its legitimately a place where art goes down and I appreciate that. I dont want an experience that makes me feel like I should have just crawled out of a Chevy Pinto motor... and thats what the other places around town remind me of. Run down and dirty. Black Lotus not only makes you feel like your the only one in the shop but your shopping for something self fulfilling and couture. He is always down to order you custome jewelry even if its at a cost to the shop. His customer service makes me continue going back. This establishment is all sorts of WRONG. While I have had little interaction with any other employees, this Joe character is perhaps one of the most UNSAVORY and HATEFUL individuals I have ever come into contact with.... Venturing to Black Lotus in search of a new nose stud, I arrived to an empty tattoo parlor with my male friend. Happily and kindly greeting the man at the counter (Joe), I asked politely if I could survey the nose jewelry. Dismissively, he walked away, and growled "In a second". I waited for FIFTEN MINUTES, watching in confusion as this creep shuffled aimlessly about his ghost town of a parlor, pushing paper and disappearing into the back. I left shaken, but assumed that, perhaps, I had encountered this individual on a bad day. Willing to give him and his well priced establishment a second chance, I hesitantly arrived back at the parlor in need of a tongue piercing. Greeted in a semi-friendly manner by Mr. Joe, I was relieved that my suspicions appeared to be correct, and that this man, although moody, was actually willing to help me. Once again, I was wrong. After a brief probing of my tongue, my request for a tongue puncture was brutally rebuffed by him. According to the villain, I had a mystery vein that would most surely be sliced open in the event of a piercing, and, I quote, "it is impossible for you to ever get a tongue pierce". Dejectedly, I left, upset about my bad luck (apparently, this supposed vein I possessed was an extreme rarity). Saddened but still interested in an alternate modification, I ventured to Santa Rosa's Evolution, requesting a septum pierce. While lamenting my desired tongue piercing, my friendly and welcoming female piercer crinkled her eyebrows as I enlightened her to my rare vein condition. It turns out, as she looked at my tongue, that I had no such condition and I ended up leaving Evolution with a brand new tongue ornament. So, Joe is not only a terrible businessman, he is a liar. avoid black lotus like the plague. very unprofessional and the guy that does the piercings, Joe or something, is a creeper. like, seriously. he likes to flirt with the female customers and the staff like to gossip about their customers once they leave. the staff is also really...moody. i can't think of another word to describe it. one day, they love you and they're all up for talking and the next, they have an attitude and barely speak to you. i don't know any of the staff personally, but i've been there on numerous occasions (twice to actually get work done) and one thing is for sure: they DO NOT give clear aftercare instructions (which is a MUST for any tattoo/piercing shop you go to.) no one at black lotus ever sat me down and talked me through aftercare, so prepare to do a lot of internet searching and bmezine browsing. they rush through customers and don't allow you to choose your own jewelry for your piercings so don't even bother asking. i know they give discounts to SSU and SRJC students, but would you rather have an ugly, infected/rejected, and scarred body modification or save a couple of bucks? trust me, it's not worth it. if you're serious about getting a tattoo or a piercing, do your research and DO NOT go to BLACK LOTUS.
