Bivouac is a great store, a cut above REI and several cuts above most other outfitters. People say it's expensive, but the prices are suggested retail and often on sale. Plus, it's easy enough to get any price matched that you bring in, so stop crying about the expense. This equipment is expensive everywhere as it's highly technical. If your looking for a cheap winter coat to wear around town and you're used to Walmart pricing, go to Walmart. If you're looking for clothes that will last ten times as long, come with warranties, and protect you in the harshest of climates, this is the place to buy it. more

Great store and friendly staff! 7/5/2008

Bivouac is THE place to go if you're looking for any outdoor gear in Ann Arbor. They have a price match guarantee: I printed out a sale page from an online Northface retailer and they gave it to me for the same price. The staff are extremely helpful and know their stuff! Bivouac also sells men's and women's designer fashion (expensive, but sometimes goes on sale). \r \r I could spend hours in this store...Highly recommended. more

Bivouac is a great store which is centrally located right in the heart of downtown Ann Arbor which makes it close to everything! The store focuses on outdoors equipment, which will be able to help you with all of your camping, hiking, or backpacking needs. A vast product line that includes everything from shoes, sunglasses, tents and backpacks. more

Wide selection, but expensive 11/3/2005

This place has a great selection of products for your next camping trip or hike up Everest. They also sell fashionable clothes for women, which I never really understood. It usually seems like most of the people here are buying things because they say "The North Face" and not because they need them, if they even know what to do with them. For what it's worth, they did pricematch something from the internet, but that was 8 years ago. Your mileage may vary. more

Great Camping Supply Store 11/3/2005

Bivouac is a cross between a camping supply store and an upscale Abercrombie and Fitch. One half of the store has everything you could ever need to survive in the outdoors- tents, sleeping bags, portable showers, etc. They also have a really large selection of outerwear and sunglasses. Then the other half of the store sells popular clothing for women and men. Because it is right on campus, the lines lean toward a younger crowd, though. more

it is a great store that you should go visit. and if you live in ann arbor, you definetly will go. They have good selection of stuff you really want have. They also sell some unique skin care products. The cloth they selling is very different, and stylish. So, you can find good price shirt, pants, and sunglasses. You also will love the small funiture they sell. more

Bivouac 9/7/2005

This is a wonderful store for any of your outdoor or sporting needs. They carry a lot of name brand items. They have clothing, shoes, backpacks, etc..The selection is great, but the prices are very expensive. I could easily go to another sporting good store and buy the same product for a cheaper price by far. The parking can be a little difficult - its hard to find street parking, but there is a parking garage not to far from the store. Great selection/high prices. more

Intelligent staff, lots of good gear and clothing 9/4/2005

Although it largely caters to the wealthy student crowd, Bivouac has a lot of good stuff. Mens and Womens designer jeans, high end camping equipment and other good stuff. During the Ann Arbor Art fair most of it is on sale. more
