Great place for food & friends 12/21/2009

Right outside the metropolis of Atlanta there is a small hidden gem called Bistro VG. This restaurant serves French inspired cuisine. In my opinion the restaurant hosts a great atmosphere decadent superb cuisine. Also awe-some daily specials The service is also impeccable . One of the best restaurants in metro Atlanta. Well worth the trip. Pros: Great atmosphere Cons: Location in Roswell more

Great chic places for ""Women Who Lunch"" 10/12/2009

Although I will always be a tried and true Van Gohs fan, I have to say I can really appreciate the concept change. The menu provided a relatively wide variety for all palets, however the service can often leave something to be desired. I do have to say that I see this as more of a place for ""Ladies who lunch"" but, hey maybe I am just having cubicle jealously. Pros: Great atmosphere, unique menu Cons: Service can be slow more

Always a great choice! 12/1/2008

When we first moved to the Roswell area, my husband and I celebrated with Van Goghs restaurant-we loved it. When the concept changed over we were nervous. We should have know we wouldn't be let down! The food is always delicious, the service is attentive and they are willing to go out of their way to make your visit perfect. The bar is incredibly well stocked and the bartenders are very knowledgable!\r \r This is a perfect place for a special night out or a night out with friends! more

One of Atlanta's Genuine Treassures 11/17/2008

My wife and I hadn't been back to VG's for a few months, so it was a perfect place to go for her November 15th birthday. As usual, we were treated courteously and had a great meal. A call ahead ensured that cocktails greeted us upon our arrival. Butternut squash and pumpkin soup started our meal off right, followed by a flavorful spread of country pate-style pork loin, capers and mustard. Flatbread with goat cheese & sable topping preceded our entry, perfectedly grilled red snapper. All the dishes were well presented; all portions were generous; service was expert and prompt.\r \r We've been to dozens of fine restaurants in Atlanta, and consider ourselves lucky to live in a town that has so many fine establishments. Bistro VG is one of those genuine treasures. more

Fantastic Atmosphere!! Great staff! Good drinks! Innovative Menu 9/15/2008

I love places like Rathburns, Two Urban Licks, etc. Bistro VG surpasses them!!!\r \r The Bistro Mojito is fantastic. \r \r The menu is french influenced, but the items are innovative. I have found the staff to be super. Most are older, so they know something. The patio is nice, but the real treat is the inside decor. \r \r Amazing find on the menu? Caramelized cauliflower!!! Please keep it there!\r \r Only down side is the fact that you're in suburbia and have to valet in an area rife with parking. How obnoxious. Pros: Carmelized Cauliflower, back room, bistro mojito Cons: forced to valet more

What are you waiting for? 4/17/2008

I went to bistro VG last night for a special occassion, and I was pleasantly thrilled with my whole experience. Without wasting your time, here are the things you need to know: The food was great, came out hot & fast. The service was spot on. I never had to wait for anything, our server was one step ahead of us. The wine & martini list was superb, not sure who put it together, but whomever it is deserves a raise! Great atmosphere, very chic, cool music. If you're looking for a sterile enviroment, then maybe you should try Panos and Pauls. Come on ppl, it's 2008! The hostess was friendly and so was the manager. I noticed the manager (long blond hair) was visiting every table in the dining room, it was nice to see cause it doesn't happen too often these days.......I will be back, and I will recommend this place to friends. Pros: everything Cons: non more

Wow! 4/7/2008

Like many in their late twenties and early thirties, I am always looking to get away from tired old bar scene and to find hip spot to bring my friends to show off my good taste without having to take an hour long trek downtown. That's why I fell in love with bistro VG! The atmosphere is lively, the decor breathtaking...very ITP only (the service is better!). The price range is affordable, and everyone I bring, even the pickiest of eaters, is able to find something they really enjoy. I haven't had a single thing on the menu that wasn't artfully presented and delicious...I highly recommend this place. more

bad time lots of money 1/9/2008

Love the Update! 12/27/2007

My husband and I went to the old Van Gogh's only once. I was stuffy, pretentious and over priced. I have been to the new Bistro VG several times and it's really nice having a restaurant that is comfortable, updated and fresh like this so close to my house. Pros: Comfortable, Hip and Great Ambiance Cons: ? more

Very Good Food! Great to take company for dinner or lunch during the week. 9/15/2007

I really like Bistro VG and feel really special while eating there. They are very original in their food preparation. Last time I went I had pumpkin ravioli and it was outstanding. Never have I had an unpleasant experience. Pros: THE FOOD! Cons: Can't really think of any.. more

Reservations Ignored....Beware. 8/26/2007

Unfortunately i am unable to comment of the food quality since my party of 8 never got to eat. Our reservations were for 8:00 and we actually left the restaurant a little after 9:00. Yes they were busy but give me a break and be honest. We were lied to most of that time with statements like ""your table is being set up now"", ""just a few more minutes while the tablle is being bussed"". After an hour they advised us that they would try and get us seated at table for 6, they must have forgottrn that we were a table of 8. Well, at this point VG you are forgotten.....by the way our bill later that night at your competitor down the steet was $1,136.13. more

Very chic and charming restaurant! 6/13/2007

First impression - very chic and surprisingly charming in roswell! My husband brought me here for our anniversary and i was so impressed first, with the decor. Then the service also was great. The martinis were wonderful and the wine recommendations were fantastic. The entrees were very tasty and moderately priced. I ordered the crab cake entree (wonderful) and husband ordered the tuna / barley dish. Both were excellent. I am very eager to try this place again as I was very satisfied on all levels during my first visit in June. I do agree, that Valet is probably not necessary but it just so happened it was raining when we arrived so it was actually quite nice! \r I am looking forward to my next visit! Pros: very chic decor, menu is not fussy Cons: none! more

Worst Anniversary Dinner 5/21/2007

We were looking for a romantic dinner and thought Van Gogh's would be perfect restaurant to celebrate 23 years of marriage. When walking to the entrance, I thought it was silly to have valet parking considering all the ample parking in the strip shopping center. The hostess was wonderful, and seated us right away upon arrival. But, there was no romance in this place! We found the restaurant too loud and felt as if we were in a screaming match just to be heard. It was so loud, you could not enjoy the music. There was no privacy as the tables were too close. Our waiter seemed ok, but was a bit on the cold side. I ordered the ravioli and my husband order the roasted chicken. I could have done better by preparing it myself at home. My pasta was over cooked and tough. The roasted chicken was under cooked and dark meat. We were not offered any refills on wine or water. Needless to say we are planning another dinner to celebrate our anniversary , and will not return back to this restaurant which in it's former days was one of our favorites. Pros: Parking Cons: Ambience, Food, Service more
