Great service.. bit lacking in the food area. 8/15/2009

I was introduced to this place on a ""date"" with a friend.. I will say that I've had MUCH better tasting food. The calamari was interesting in that it was in an appealing looking sauce with onions but it needed seasoning.. the chilean sea bass was a bit dry but it was tasty.. for dessert, I had the flan which was not good at all... didn't taste authentic by any means and it was smothered in vanilla ice cream.. really weird combination.. But, I have to say the people are very friendly.. all the way down to the fellow diners. Great time in that area.. The owner is wonderfully sociable. Pros: Great service, friendly atmosphere, wonderful owner Cons: Food is lacking in taste and the prices are too expensive more

May have excellent food, but not accomodating 7/13/2007

I've heard the food is excellent, and I guess it must be because they certainly are not making any effort to get business. I called to ask about making a reservation for a 25th wedding anniversary dinner for my parents. I was immediately told, ""We don't take reservations"" in a very firm voice. I then asked, if that was the case even for larger parties, and was asked what day and how large - which got my hopes up. When I said Monday, July 30 for 12-14, the tone turned absolutely snobby and I was informed that they do not serve large groups after 5:30 pm, the whole group must be present and must be seated by 5:30 or we would be turned away. They didn't even try to soften the rejection with a ""so sorry we can't accomodate you, hope you will come at another time, they just disconnected."" Believe me I won't make the mistake of offending them with my business again. Too bad, because my parents were very fond of the restaurant and now have a poor opinion of the attitude. I guess business is booming, even on a Monday night. Maybe if it were a winter anniversary the response would've been diffeent. I grew up in NJ, I should've remembered the rudeness that amplifies in the summer tourist season. Living too long in the friendly Midwest has really given me false expectations. Pros: I heard the food was excellent. Cons: No reservations, does not accomodate groups more

My Favorite Restaurant 10/26/2005

Bistro Ole is absolutely fantastic! The food is delicious and consistent - I recommend the Dijon Lamb Chops, Chefs Best-Seller Sea Bass, Calamari appetizer. It is BYOB and they will make your wine into Sangria if you prefer. The owner and staff are welcoming as is the atmosphere. The wait for a table can be long but they will take your cell phone number and call you when your table is ready. I have been there many times and always been pleased. Ole is a 10!!! Pros: Food, Staff Cons: Long Waits, Minimal Parking more
